My current Platinum team nicknames are as follows:

Togekiss: Des
Blissey: Troy

Together they are "destroy" hee hee.

Continuing on...

Gardevoir: Twilight
Roserade: Acacia
Milotic: Aquadite
Froslass: Shiva

Dumb, I know haha.

I don't normally nickname my pokemon, because I can't think of anything, but a friend of mine nicknamed his Piplup 'Zac Efron'...

Oh and also (my name's Simon) he traded me a Cyndaquil, but before he traded it to me he named it "Simonisgay". And I couldn't change it because it was from a trade!

The OT can always rename their Pokémon, even if it was traded.

I only nickname the Pokemon I've fully trained, and ones I've been using until my team making possibilities expanded beyond those available before beating the E4. Examples:

- Donkey Kong/Infernape
- Predator/Garchomp (the first one)
- Kebab/Luxray
- Rak Odbytu (Polish for ***** cancer)/Scizor
- Waszka G (an once popular, exclusively Polish meme)/Yanmega
- Godslayer/Rhyperior
- Behemoth/Tyranitar
- Garfield/Snorlax
- Sothis/Starmie
- Om Nom Nom/Electivire
- Ducktard/Magmortar
- Blue b****/Garchomp (PVP one)

Pachirisu: Nutella
Umbreon: Black Cat
Bibarel: Beatrice
Plusle: Ami
Minun: Yumi (together they make the Puffy duo!)
Uxie: Zelda
Mesprit: Ganondorf
Azelf: Link
Gardevoir: Guinevere
Gallade: Arthur
Milotic: Dreamboat (yes it's a male...)
Lucario: Zorro
Espeon: Akamaru
Crobat: Batman
Gastrodon: Slughorn

I only named four out of my six main Pokemon in the game, because I was too lame to think of a name for the other two. ^_^; Names are:
Infernape - Thame (I was thinking of the song, 'Through The Fire and Flames' at the time, so I connected 'through' and 'flame' and came up with Thame.)
Palkia - William (Haha, yeah, I explained that I was lame, right?)
Bibarel - Dennis (Beaver/beaver like animals remind me of the name Dennis. I have no idea why.)
Roserade - Thorne (Again, I'm totally lame. I didn't realize my Roserade was a boy until after a while, and the realization struck that I had just named my poor Roserade a girly name. So I decided that Thorne would be his nickname. His real name is Thornton. XD)

I only nickname them when I can come up with something clever... or something memorable. These do not include the ones I got in in-game trades.

Charizard from FR: Blaze, later changed to Silanah (bonus points to anyone who gets the reference for the change)
My shiny Charizard: Anomander, after a favorite characters from the "Malazan Book of the Fallen" series. The character can turn into a black dragon.
(first electric Pokemon, used to be Raichu and now Luxray): Sparky
Moltres: Firestorm
Muk: Biohazard
Tangela: Ramen (that was rather random, but I see a resemblance...)
Octillery: Nu (named for a friend whose favorite animal is the octopus)
Another Pikachu: Tesla
Luvdisc: Valentine
Chatot: Polly (parrot...)
Ponyta: Firehoof
Staraptor: Merlin/-a (depending on gender)
Pidgeot: Tobias (after an Animorphs character... that was so long ago)
Ursaring: Rachel (see above about childhood Animorphs love)
Bibarel: Craig (inside joke with friend)
Krabby: Cancer
Female Houndoom: Isil (this is a joke-- "isil" is the Elvish word for "moon")
Male Houndoom: Telcontar (means "strider" or "walker" in Elvish, named for Aragorn who I adore, and also for his long legs.)
Vulpix: Donna. (Doctor Who reference, because Donna Noble is amazing. Fiery and red-haired/furred.)

That's all I can think of, off the top of my head.

I nickname every single pokémon I catch. I'll just go through my main teams, though:

Diamond:

Luxray: Clayton
I used to call my electric pokémon Sparky. Clayton is named after Adam Clayton from U2, who had the nickname Sparky. Clayton is also the name of my Magneton in Sapphire.

Golem: Geode (I don't think that needs explaining)

Staraptor: Tegan
I needed to think of a female name, and, as I was obsessed with Doctor Who at the time, this stuck. Staraptor's hair kind of matches hers, coincidentally.

Rapidash: Santuzza
Again, needed another female name. This one comes from the opera La Cavalleria Rusticana. I don't know why. EDIT - Now I remember. It's from the 'Cavalleria' part - which, as you can probably guess, means cavalry (i.e. horseback). There's a method to my madness, at least most of the time.

Empoleon: Beppe
Sort of taken from the 'Napoleon' reference in its name. Two of the main players in the Italian resurgence (which was around the same time as Napoleon's rule - well, some time after his defeat, but hey-ho) were named Giuseppe - Mazzini and Garibaldi. I shortened it down to Beppe and the name seemed to suit him.

Abomasnow: Yuki
After the Japanese names for Snover and Abomasnow.

Pearl:

Growlithe: Flame
The nickname for every growlithe I own. To be changed to Flike when I get HG/SS

Garchomp: Gary
Derived from its English name

Walrein: Celia
Because finding a decent name from its final evolution is nearly impossible, so I nicked it from its second stage instead.

Noctowl: Yorun
After its Japanese name. A long-standing tradition since I played my rather badly translated gold version, where only the first five letters of the name came up. Therefore, every time a noctowl appeared, the meesage would be, "Wild YORUN appear!"

Breloom: Loom
I was feeling lazy when I caught shroomish on Emerald. I couldn't rename it once I'd transfered it, so it had to stay that way.

Magnezone: Magnus
Again, taken from its English name, but I quite like the nickname as well.

Vespiquen: Vespa

Honchkrow: HONCHKROW (wi-fi traded, can't rename)

Blastoise: Jet
Tradition from Blue that I carried on throughout the games

Dratini: Tini
Uninspired derivation of its English name, will hopefully find something better and change it.

Yanmega: Mega
See Dratini

Infernape: Fernando
Taken from 'fer', for fire. Also starts ABBA songs playing in my head every time he's sent out.

Female Lucario: Lucy (and she is a girl.)
Male Luxray: Sparks (I wasn't in a creative mood when I nicknamed him.)
