Default Nintendo having to drop backwards compatibility next gen?

I mean, their next handheld would have to have a microphone, touch screen, two screens, and everything else the DS has in order to play DS games, and the next console needs Wii motion sensing. So that's a problem, right? I mean, it'll either raise the price(Nintendo doesn't like high prices, nor do consumers) or they just won't do it. Double edged sword of innovation?

Whoo. That's a hard one. Maybe we'll all just be better off with just the Wii and DS.

Yeaaaah, I doubt they'll drop out of both the handheld and console market because of this.

    If that's what you mean.

No I meant that we would be better off with those two consoles instead of trying to combine them.

I thing they'l stick to having the motion sensitive cartridges,

like yoshi topsy turvy and wario ware.

How are tilt sensitive cartridges anywhere near DS or Wii technology?

Or, you know, they could just build the next systems around the concept of their previous systems, like Sony and Microsoft do.
    Thanks Sammi!

Well the next handheld might use all these features and more. I mean they surprised us many times before. We saw the first DS screens and everyone's jaw dropped from how awkward it looked. Same thing for the wiimote. For the DS I wouldn't mind an advanced version of it. Like with all the feature just more power. Maybe a new toy or two

For the DS I can't say but Wii...

It can't be that hard to implement the controller wireless and fit the wii's technology. In a future console.

Isn't that a bit easier to do with those consoles? I mean, they were...standard fare.

Or they can just make completly new systems that dont have backwards capability...

They didn't USED to do that....and people didn't complain :0

Yeah, but that's sorta their thing now. They do it because it 'increases' the launch library, to everyone who does not have the previous system.

Nintendo would find some way to combine them if it came down to it, but why would they want to, or even have to for that matter?
    Jealous much?

That's why. For some reason, it helps push sales, plus it's convenient to be able to play several generations of games on one console.

I can see a way for nintendo to use backwards compatability for wii, DS would be harder IMO/

...What if the next handheld had a second touch screen? It would be the style of the NDS but still able to play the NDS games. With a different handheld to boot.

Ummm, the topic is that the next handheld might have to drop DS capability, not GBA, that's a given. (Also the wii too) Unless the next handheld had a mini VC! That would be awesome.

Your posting format is really bad.

Anyways, Gunstar Super Heroes, Drill Dozer, Sigma Star Saga. My trio of excellent GBA games during the DS's time.

Interesting point you raise, I'd say the most difficult aspect would be the problem of two screens in order to play DS...

Maybe Nintendo just wont revert back to only having one screen on its portable gaming consoles?

Two screens is probably the easiest part. A microphone, touch screen, and whatever else the DS has, on top of the threeaxis, is gonna be a bit weird.
