Now that is a pretty cool song.

Anyways, I'm looking for a good death metal band. Can anyone give me some suggestions?

I am not sure if you would call them "death" metal but they are pretty close.
    Bring me the Horizon.

    Edit: Nevermind, they are deathcore

Chaotic Tyrant would probably be your best bet to answer, but I've not seen him post for quite a while.

A few suggestions from me, with the best album to try.

    Entombed - Left Hand Path
Dismember - Like and Ever Flowing Stream
The Chasm - Farseeing the Paranormal Abysm
    Electrocution - Inside the Unreal
Winterwolf - Cycle of the Werewolf
Morbus Chron - Sleepers In The Rift
Morbid Angel - Alters of Madness
    Massacre - From Beyond
    Carnage - Dark Recollections
Dead Congregation - Graves Of The Archangels
    Atheist - Unquestionable Presence
    Exhumed - Anatomy Is Destiny
    Nocturnus - The Key

should be enough to get you going.

Does anyone have some band suggestions? I want to expand the bands I listen to more. I like anything from Avenged Sevenfold to RED to Bring me the Horizon to Dead by April. (in other words, I am varied)
    Thank you.

Possibly heavier genres of metal (but not death metal that is pure screaming) and some more core groups like some deathcore and more metalcore (can't get enough metalcore) I love screaming vocals but I also like clean vocals blended in the mix.
Edit: I like screaming but there were two death metal bands (I can't remember their names) that I absolutely despise because all they did was scream and play the same notes over and over. I believe there are different types of death metal but I am clueless because I only listen to "core" genres so I need to expand.

And the winner of todays most naive post goes to...dragonitea7x for her views on death metal.

Seriously though a few post up me and otaku posted a list of reccomendations for death metal (mimes better ) youtube a track from all those albums and then come bavk and tell me it's still 'pure screaming' I'm not even going to bother with the whole it's different technique to screaming anyway arguement either.

i'm pretty much gone from this forum, but i might be here today and tomorrow because it's the weekend. i'd expand on the lists you and Dion made but i have no idea what his/her experience with death metal already is so i don't want to plug a bunch of random obscure swedish and finnish gems if he hasn't even heard Deicide and Cannibal Corpse already or something.

if anyone wants to contact me my last.fm username is Ascendence and i have msn/skype that you can request by pm.

i guess to contribute to actual metal discussion i've been playing my bass a lot more recently and i sorta want to start up a death/doom/winter worship band sometime. i can pull off decent enough grunts to do vocals and maybe i'll pen some lyrics eventually too.

    >claims death metal is all screaming
    >likes Soilwork

unless Soilwork changed to metalcore like a lot of the shitty second rate melodeath bands, i've only heard Steelbath Suicide.

I would recommend Between the Buried and Me. Their earlier stuff is more Metalcore, and their latter stuff is more Progressive Metal, but seeing as they are one of my favorite bands, I would recommend them.

Albumwise I would say Colors or Alaska would work well as starting points.

I challenge any of you to find a better drummer than that of Fleshgod Apocalypse.

Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan. That guy was a legend.
My opinion is bias because avenged sevenfold is my favorite band.

Whys that? Cause he can double bass really fast and blast at 240bpm?

I find a lot of metal drumming pretty simple, just really fast which gives the illusion of it being good.

I dont know if I could really pick a favourite without really thinking about it first.

When it comes to measuring skill, it's tough. Personally I think playing fast doesn't always show much. Some people play fast to hide the fact that they aren't really that good. Anyhow, a couple of my personal favorites:

Blake Richardson (Between the Buried and Me)

    Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree)

I like Attack Attack! But the new album isn't the best. The album art cover... *shudders*
besides, none of their new songs will be as epic as Shut Your Mouth! by Attack Attack

Yeah, I know. Compared to Someday Came Suddenly, and the others, respectively, This Means War just sounds horrible. The new vocals aren't as great as the vocals in SCS...
