umm... what genre(s) are you looking to expand in?
Possibly heavier genres of metal (but not death metal that is pure screaming) and some more core groups like some deathcore and more metalcore (can't get enough metalcore) I love screaming vocals but I also like clean vocals blended in the mix.
Edit: I like screaming but there were two death metal bands (I can't remember their names) that I absolutely despise because all they did was scream and play the same notes over and over. I believe there are different types of death metal but I am clueless because I only listen to "core" genres so I need to expand.

And the winner of todays most naive post goes to...dragonitea7x for her views on death metal.
Seriously though a few post up me and otaku posted a list of reccomendations for death metal (mimes better ) youtube a track from all those albums and then come bavk and tell me it's still 'pure screaming' I'm not even going to bother with the whole it's different technique to screaming anyway arguement either.
It Came From Beneath - Blue Turns Black (metalcore)
Conducting From The Grave - What Monsters We Have Become (Part 1) (metalcore / deathcore)
Darkest Hour - Convalescence (metalcore)
Oh, Sleeper - Reveries of Flight (metalcore)
In This Moment - Iron Army (metalcore)
Trivium - Suffocating Sight (metalcore)
Soilwork - Stabbing The Drama (metalcore / melodic death)
**** Your Shadow From Behind - Der Wahrheit Zweites Gesicht (deathcore)
The Molotov Solution - Corpus Imperium (deathcore)
Winds of Plague - Soldiers of Doomsday (deathcore)
here some stuff that you probably haven't heard that are 'core' bands
if anyone wants to contact me my last.fm username is Ascendence and i have msn/skype that you can request by pm.
i guess to contribute to actual metal discussion i've been playing my bass a lot more recently and i sorta want to start up a death/doom/winter worship band sometime. i can pull off decent enough grunts to do vocals and maybe i'll pen some lyrics eventually too.
>claims death metal is all screaming
unless Soilwork changed to metalcore like a lot of the shitty second rate melodeath bands, i've only heard Steelbath Suicide.
I would recommend Between the Buried and Me. Their earlier stuff is more Metalcore, and their latter stuff is more Progressive Metal, but seeing as they are one of my favorite bands, I would recommend them.
Albumwise I would say Colors or Alaska would work well as starting points.
I challenge any of you to find a better drummer than that of Fleshgod Apocalypse.
Lamb Of God & Devildriver 4ever \,,/
When it comes to measuring skill, it's tough. Personally I think playing fast doesn't always show much. Some people play fast to hide the fact that they aren't really that good. Anyhow, a couple of my personal favorites:
Blake Richardson (Between the Buried and Me)
Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree)
Attack Attack is crap, so it's expected.
