I really liked their first album. I recently got their newest one. I didnt get to listen to the whole thing yet but I can already tell it is probably going to be pretty different from the last one. Not in a bad way. Just different. Hopefully I dont hate it


Is anyone else exited for Summer Slaughter ? Thy Art Is Murder will have their America debut ^^

They have some good lead guitaring playing but once they hit a breakdown, then it just turns into boring generic deathcore :/

It's not too bad for metalcore, I used to listen to Creatures when it first came out.

I've been listening to Converge a lot lately, they are among my top6 bands/artists for sure.

Never really got the fuss with Converge, but then I never gave them a full album listen, so perhaps it might 'click' if I gave them more time. Am I right in thinking Jane Doe is their best?

I've been listening to a Dead Can Dance again today, decided to try the follow up album to Within the Realm of a Dying Sun, to see if it was a one off, on if there's a wealth of good music waiting for me. Having listened a good few times I can Definitely say The Serpents Egg is a fantastic album. Which is definitely up there with WtRoaDS.

I would say Jane Doe is their best, and considered the classic for a reason. However, I feel like if your main music is Metal, you might appreciate the last album, All We Love We Leave Behind slightly more. It's darker, heavier and more "metal" in terms of sound. Really one of the best albums of 2012, and probably my second favorite from them overall.

I only streamed it the once via itunes, but the impression I got was that there was something about it which I'm going to call the 'comfort blanket factor'. Basically the familiar and comforting sound of classic Sabbath that hasn't really been heard for some time. However, I'm not convinced they really do anything of note with the music, it just sounds nice if that makes sense. I feel if any modern doom band, Lord Vicar or Procession for example, had put it out, people would just refer to it as a sub par sabbath clone. But somehow I think people are more forgiving because it is Sabbath and because of the sound of it.

But I think it's decently solid, overall. Not bad, but also not liable to set the world on fire. I'm not really paying attention to the lyrics much, though. This is an album whose first lyrics are "Is this the end of the beginning, or the beginning of the end?" -- not exactly Zevon-level material.
