evan i second ulver's kveldssanger, and agalloch's the white ep is also very good if you don't have it.
Just thought I would share something with you all. Stumbled upon a great offer that is valid until April 4th. http://www.theomegaorder.com/NOJOKE offers you 70% off on pretty much all music products, a bargain that is too good to turn down. They have lots of metal stuff (also other genres) and I ordered lots of stuff myself, and it was totally worth it.
This is what I ordered: (Note that if you live in the states, shipping is free)

Outta ****ing nowhere, what a shame. Well not exactly outta nowhere, the stuff they do is amazing and I would imagine the stress, but still. At least for Rhapsody it was known they had a bit of an issue with each other, here it sounds a bit like they got to that make it or break it point and things got too iffy. And yes I read the statement and by the gods of metal do I know not what to think. On one hand he says that everything's cool and all, and on the other NEIN RHAPSODY MEIN, oh yeah there's this other Rhapsody too in which Alex and Fabio decided to make after they decided to leave. What makes it worse is that the childish behavior("what they consider to be the perfect 11th Rhapsody album" doesn't give any bitterness off at all, none whatsoever!)is not helped at all by that abysmal trailer, what is March in Time doing there?!, the new singer sounds far too much like Fabio which hints that Trulli's not exactly happy with the split, and the orchestration is an exact example of why the two genres should never mix in the wrong hands. Oh and it doesn't help that I'm liking Dragonforce's new song more then the clips we got. I love Trulli, but he's gotten over his head in this case.

That dragonforce track is class. Far more traditional power metal than before, but it seems a lot more vocally melodic than the last album which is good. I'm loving this the more I hear of it. Definately glad I have the album on pre order now.
it's the whole metal vs metalcore vs hard rock with a metal aesthetic debate. We can get into it if you really want, but it's really not worth the effort![]()
Avenged Sevenfold can't really be classified. You can call them Metal, but then listen to A Little Piece of Heaven. They try different things.

I'm pretty sure you can classify them. Just 'cause their has changed over time, and a few songs do something different doesn't make them some sort of unique band.
There are much harder bands to classify then Avenged Sevenfold. Personally I dislike the term "Hard Rock", but I would call them Metal. Not sure which subgenre would fit them, as stated they do have a couple of songs "out of the ordinary", but many bands have that.
So yeah, if you think A7X is a tough band to define, you should look into Ulver.![]()
As a Dragonforce fan, I think the new voice will need listening to before I adore it. I found "Fallen World" and I had to listen to it 4 times before saying that it was a good voice.
I guess it's because I've known ZP through my favourite songs. Hopefully, The Power Within should be brilliant, and it's released the day before my birthday!

Ulver are only hard to define if your looking at them as a whole, which is silly.
You have clear styles on album be it black metal, neo-folk, trip hop, electronica, ambient etc.
I agree it might get some getting used to, but it sounds promising. I've had like 6 years of listening to them with ZP, I feel his voice was a very distinctive element which helped set them apart, and the 5 times I've seen them live I've felt he had great stage presence too, which won't be easy to emulate. But I have faith that the band have made the right choice.
I don't like metal too much, except Metallica. Even though Metallica is hard rock, not metal.
True. It's all a case of "They wouldn't have done it if it was a bad idea".
Is there a reason behind it as well?

Sure metallica are hard rock if you only know load/reload, and I guess the black album if I'm extending to the hard rock with a metal aesthetic thing again.
First 4 are undoubtedly thrash metal.
Death In June: i listened to But, What Ends When The Symbols Shatter?, which is solid enough i guess.
Ulver: i didn't like the black metal stuff i heard they did, i'll try something else.
the compilation: i had you recommend it to me before. haven't heard it, i'll look into it.
Agalloch's White EP: solid enough.
Syven/Nest: i'll try both.

also the main band that i'm getting tickets to see isn't Exhumed, it's Cannibal Corpse, but Exhumed are on the bill and i prefer them, so... i picked up the ticket yesterday though, along with new Black Breath and a reissue of Destroyer 666's Cold Steel on Seasons of Mist.
I actually don't care much for Ulver's earlier albums. Don't get me wrong, I think that Bergtatt and Kveldssanger are both good, but their last couple of albums (Perdition City, Blood Inside, Shadows of the Sun & Wars of the Roses) are much better IMO. Though pretty different obviously.
incomparable, obviously. i am a big fan of bergtatt, i am also a big fan of kveldssanger, and honestly nattens madrigal's production either isn't as bad as it's made out to be or i got used to it very quickly because regardless of production it's amazing. also very trve and kvlt.
although, those are the only three ulver albums i have, and i am content with those three.
Serious class. I never listened to Dragonforce as an album band, more so just for a couple tracks. Both Fallen World and Cry Thunder give us a sense of DF of old and a DF willing to change for the better.
while ZP was awesome, I got used to the singer fast. Only problem in Fallen World is he tried a bit too hard imo to emulate ZP.
Never got to witness a live DF with him as lead singer so damn jealous of you.
