Week 5 of the challenge. Over 50 hours clocked up on both games now. Again everything applies to both Red and Blue.

Restarted both the spare games in order to get the spare Eevees which were traded over to the main games. A couple of fire stones later and Flareon was added to both games.

Managed to get my aim of training the top 10 and any unevolved pokemon to Level 26 before tackling Erika and getting the 4th gym badge. I've done a bit more training and am just off to the Rocket Game Corner.

Here's the stats for the week

    Pokemon Red:

    Caught: 80/151 Seen: 91/151 Own: 70/151

Pokemon caught in past week: (1) (1 specie) (Total IVs in brackets):

    Flareon (62)

Pokemon evolved in the past week: (6) (6 new species)

Dugtrio (Diglett to Dugtrio), Persian (Meowth to Persian), Primeape (Mankey to Primeape), Machoke (Machop to Machoke), Machamp (Machop to Machoke and Machoke to Machamp) and Hypno (Drowzee to Hypno)

Overall Top 10: Total of IVs out of 90, Name of Pokemon, (Current Pokemon Type), Current Level

    1) 73 - Sandshrew (Sandshrew) - Level 26
    2) 71 - Jolteon (Jolteon) - Level 26
    3) 71 - Gloom (Gloom) - Level 26
    4) 70 - Weedle (Weedle) - Level 26
    5) 69 - Primeape (Primeape) - Level 28
    6) 68 - Machoke (Machoke) - Level 28
    7) 68 - Growlithe (Growlithe) - Level 26
    8) 68 - Pidgeotto (Pidgeotto) - Level 26

    10) 64 - Parasect (Parasect) - Level 26

    and the worst Pokemon is

    11 - Charmander (Charmander) - Level 5

All of Team Red's top 10 have reached their individual final evolutions. Good old Weedle is more than a quarter of the way to Level 100. Unsurprisingly the Red Flareon was the stronger of the two versions!

    Pokemon Blue:

    Caught: 80/151 Seen: 91/151 Own: 70/151

Pokemon caught in past week: (1) (1 specie) (Total IVs in brackets):

    Flareon (41)

Pokemon evolved in the past week: (6) (6 new species)

Dugtrio (Diglett to Dugtrio), Persian (Meowth to Persian), Primeape (Mankey to Primeape), Machoke (Machop to Machoke), Machamp (Machop to Machoke and Machoke to Machamp) and Hypno (Drowzee to Hypno)

Overall Top 10: Total of IVs out of 90, Name of Pokemon, (Current Pokemon Type), Level

    7) 65 -Raticate (Raticate) - Level 26
    8) 65 -Eevee (Eevee) - Level 26
    9) 62 -Arcanine (Growlithe) - Level 26
    10) 62 -Primeape (Primeape) - Level 28

    and the worst Pokemon is

    17 - Nidorino (Nidorino) - Level 16

The main pokemon for Team Blue, Persian, is now fully evolved and it's just Vileplume and Arcanine who are yet to reach the final stage from the Blue top 10.

Week 6 of the challenge. Things have progressed quite well over the past week. Again everything applies to both games.

Beat the Rockets and Giovanni at the game corner in order to get the Silph Scope and then it was off to Pokemon Tower where I beat everyone and spoke to Mr Fuji to get the Poke Flute.

I used the Poke Flute on both Snorlaxes, caught them both and kept the one the highest ivs. Off to Route 17 where I caught a couple of Doduos and beat all the trainers before arriving in Fucshia City.

Got the Good Rod from the brother of the Fishing Guru and then caught a couple of Goldeens and four Poliwags. The fourth Poliwag was trained up to Level 25 and then evolved into Poliwhirl and traded across for Jynx.

Then off to the Safari Zone where I just employed the chuck a Safari Ball option rather than messing around with baits and rocks and managed to catch a couple of Rhydons, a couple of Venonats, a couple of Exeggcutes, Scyther/Pinsir, Kangaskhan, Tauros and Chansey. On the spare games I then caught Scyther/Pinsir for the other version.

After that it was training time. All of the top tens and pretty much all of the non evolved Pokemon are now at Level 30. Once everyone reaches that level it’ll be off to take on Koga and try for the 5th badge. My aim is to have Articuno be the 100th owned Pokemon (Zapdos will be the 120th, Moltres the 140th, Mewtwo the 150th and Mew (via the Mew glitch) the 151st). So hopefully I’ll be the proud owner of two Articunos by this time next week.

Here's the stats for the week

    Pokemon Red:

    Caught: 105/151 Seen: 107/151 Own: 90/151

Pokemon caught in past week: (25) (15 new species) (Total IVs in brackets):

    Venonat (48), Venomoth (47), Poliwag (60), Poliwhirl (37), Poliwrath (37), Doduo (41), Dodrio (42), Gastly (55), Haunter (38), Gengar (41), Exeggcute (54), Exeggutor (37), Cubone (34), Marowak (38), Rhyhorn (59), Rhydon (38), Chansey (28), Kangaskhan (54), Goldeen (58), Seaking (64), Scyther (38), Jynx (32), Pinsir (63), Tauros (78) and Snorlax (55) (Memo: The other Snorlax was 41).

Overall Top 10: Total of IVs out of 90, Name of Pokemon, (Current Pokemon Type), Current Level

    10) 67 - Nidorino (Nidorino) - Level 30

    and the worst Pokemon is

    11 - Charmander (Charmander) - Level 5

Well it needed a good Pokemon to crack the top 10 and Tauros with a magnificent 78 out of 90 is certainly that Pokemon.

A fantastic week for Team Blue. 6 new entries in the top 10. Amazingly 4 out of the 5 Pokemon caught in Pokemon Tower fell in that category. The Blue Team have definitely closed in on the Reds and if it hadn’t been for Tauros they would have been ahead of them.

Week 7 of the challenge. Another fairly productive week but still plenty more left to achieve. As always this applies to both Red and Blue.

Got the squads up to Level 30 before tackling Koga and getting the 5th gym badge. Following that I battled the numerous trainers on Routes 12-15 and got the Super Rod.

I then flew to the various locations to catch 2 Tentacools, 2 Krabbys, 2 Psyducks, 3 Slowpokes (1 to train to Slowbro and then trade for Lickitung), 2 Shellders, 2 Horseas, 2 Staryus and 3 Dratinis.

Then off to Seafoam Islands to catch 2 Seels and to catch Articuno who was the 100th Pokedex entry.

Following that I caught a Ditto and then went to Saffron to beat the fighting gym and get Hitmonlee. Then I switched to the spare games where I did the same and got Hitmonchan which I traded over. Then I quickly popped in to Silph Co just to get the card key and defeat the Rival and obtain Lapras. I have the rest of it to do next week.

After that I left Silph Co and started training the newly obtained Pokemon. The aim is to get the top 10 and unevolved Pokes up to Level 33 before tackling Sabrina.

Here's the stats for the week

    Pokemon Red:

A great new entry for Team Blue in the form of Dragonite who will evolve into one of the game's most powerful Pokemon. The extra Pokemon seen was Golduck who is far more common in Blue at the Seafoam Islands.

Week 8 of the challenge. As always this applies to both Red and Blue.

Got the squads up to Level 33 before beating Sabrina and obtaining the 6th gym badge. In the meantime I'd earned enough money to nip back to Celadon to get Porygon at the game corner which cost 6,500 coins in Blue and a pricely 9,999 coins in Red.

I evolved Wigglytuff at Level 34 after it learned Body Slam and went off to the Power Plant to get a couple of Magnemites, Electabuzz (Traded from the spare game to Blue) and then the 120th Pokedex entry Zapdos who was a lot easier to catch than Articuno mainly because I had Articuno on my teams this time.

Then it was off to Route 21 where I got Tangela and then surfed over to Cinnabar Island. I revived Omanyte and Aerodactyl at the Pokemon Lab (And revived the Pokemon which will eventually evolve into Omastar in the spare games). Then it was off to Pokemon Mansion to get 2 Ponytas, 2 Koffings, 2 Grimers and a Magmar (With one traded from the spare version for the Red game).

I've restarted the spare games in order to get Kabuto for both games and will have to do the same to get the Pokemon that will evolve into Kabutops. Then I'll train all the unevolved Pokes and the top tens to Level 36 before taking on Blaine.

Here's the stats for the week

    Pokemon Red:

    Well, to give a quick rundown;
I started Red Version, picked a Bulbasaur, named 'im "Cool Beans", assembled a crack squad of
    Bulbasaur>Ivysaur>Venusaur - Cool Beans
Pikachu>Raichu - PK Thunder (name subject to change)
    Pidgey>Pidgeotto - Kazooie (want to swap with a Spearow/Fearow)
Dugtrio - Stooges (no numbers and couldn't fit "Three Stooges")
    HM Pack mule #1
    HM Pack mule #2
In the recent times, I have just defeated Giovanni in the Game Corner and I am now off to the Celadon Gym!

EDITEMUNDO: So, I went to the Celadon Gym. Wrapper's paradise! Everything knows Wrap! Grr! I send Kazooie out front 'coz she has resistances (or so I thought).
All seems lost, my pokemon are all Paralyzed, Poisoned or asleep... But wait! Kazooie got to level 33! Kazooie is trying to learn Wing Attack!
The rest was a breeze. Just a short little thing, but there ya go.

I just restarted Blue, just arrived at Vermillion and traded for a Farfetch'd.
Though I'm running through the game mostly because I'm bored, I'm trying to make it a little bit harder by doing as little leveling-up as I can.

Ugh, I think I did too much for one day, I'm trying to remember all of it.
So, I got into Saffron and decided that I'll first clear out Silph Co.. After I found the card Key I went to battle my Rival, and of course, in this battle, Venusaur didn't see any action. It seems like only the first two gyms are nice to Bulbasaur, after that it's just not too nice on 'em. But I digress. Somewhere in there I found TM Earthquake. Taught it to Dugtrio which pretty much made him immediately a powerhouse. After defeating my rival, I received my Lapras and named it "Tessie" (bonus points if you catch the reference)
I fought Giovanni and won, and at least this time, Venusaur got to knock out something...
After clearing out all the rockets (and being a little surprised that no one noticed there were humongous earthquakes being let loose in a giant building), went to the Fighting Dojo and got myself a Hitmonlee. After that I took on Sabrina, since I didn't have anything Super Effective against her, Pidgeot, Raichu, and Dugtrio did most of the work. And AGAIN, Venusaur stayed out.
After receiving my Marsh Badge (I think that's it), I decided to fly to Cinnabar, since I had already visited there once before. I got my Dome Fossil resurrected into a nice looking Kabuto. And I thus boxed it away never to see it again!
After doing some wandering, I found the Pokemon Mansion, and after being thoroughly P.O.ed by the puzzle, found the key, got out and headed for the gym. As typical, Dugtrio did most of the work with Earthquake, Pidgeot and Raichu helped a little, and I got my Volcano Badge. After that I surfed up to Pallet Town and up to Viridian to take on the next gym!

Week 9 of the never ending challenge.

Played through both of the spare games to get to Cinnabar Island and grab a Kabuto which I then traded over to the main games. Then I restarted both of the spare games and played through again to get another Kabuto which will eventually become Kabutops.

Then I trained, trained, trained (mainly in the Pokemon Mansion at Cinnabar although I did do all the trainer battles on Route 21) and managed to get the top tens and the unevolved Pokes to Level 36 and managed to get the game time past 100 hours in both versions.

Then it was off to Blaine's gym and, thanks to the load of water pokemon I've accumulated, he was despatched quite handily.

Then it was back to Pokemon Mansion for training. Got the Slowbros and the spare Slowpokes to Level 37 and they evolved and the spare ones were then traded for Lickitung. I used Leaf Stones on the Vileplumes at Level 38 as the lack of Sunny Day in the first generation makes me prefer Petal Dance to Solarbeam. The Muks also evolved at Level 38.

I'm currently training everyone to Level 39 before heading off to the final gym. Then it will be off to Victory Road where I'm hoping Moltres will become my 140th Pokemon. Just the 3 more Pokemon to catch now (Moltres, Mewtwo and Mew) and I've got 9 others to evolve.

Got going on my relaunched Blue again after a lengthy hiatus. Went up to Route 6 to train Sandshrew and it almost immediately evolved into Sandslash, much to my surprise (I had forgotten it evolves at level 22!). After arming myself with Sandslash and Diglett, Lt. Surge turned out to be a pushover. Getting into his gym was a bit of a challenge though. Those dang trash cans!

Anyway, got my Thunder Badge, got my Old Amber, got my HM05, got my bike. Taught Flash to Abra, then bait-and-switched it all across Route 9 until it evolved into Kadabra. Next time, it's off into the Rock Tunnel for me! First, though, I'm gonna catch me a Voltorb just north of the Pokémon Center. I'm trying to catch each Pokémon I don't have yet the first time I encounter it in the wild.

Once I'm through the Rock Tunnel, it's off to Lavender Town to see the Name Rater and give my team their original names back. I named myself "Satoshi", so it only makes sense that my Pokémon should have their Japanese names as well.

It's been almost ten years since I first played Blue. I'm a lot better at it this time around, not just because of ten years' worth of Pokémon RPG experience, but also because Generation I has become a little simpler in retrospect. I don't have to worry about natures or abilities or anything like that. Of course, at the same time, the game is lacking a lot of the luxuries that later generations introduced - I can tell I'm going to miss having the Exp. Share in my bag further down the line.

Well, after finally playing again after a few days...
I beat the Viridian Gym, and even though Tessie is only level 35, it took out 3/5 of Gio's Pokemon all by herself, which to me, is pretty freakin impressive! After a prompt healing, I head out for... whatever that route is west of Viridian...
I realised that I am severely underleveled, my highest level pokemon is only level 46 or something. Figures that out after battling my Rival, who knocked out 3 of my Pokemon. After that gory fight, I decided to put my Masterball to use. I'm not gonna bother with the other legends, since I have no sleep or freeze clause... I used my MasterBall on Moltres. I think I'm going to retire ol'e Kazooie, even though I'll miss her so, at least I'll have a decent leveled Poke and a good Fire Type (with some good TM's of course). So now, I am at the E4 Gate.

Boy, Rock Tunnel is a pain! I'm glad I held on to Diglett - otherwise, actually walking all the way back to the Pokémon Center would have slowed me down considerably. (Hooray for Dig!)

In any case, I made it to Lavender Town, meaning I can finally change my Pokémon's names back to their Japanese versions! Ivysaur is back to being Fushigisou, Kadabra has returned to being Yungeller, and Pikachu is once again...uh, Pikachu.

I hit Route 8 and captured a Vulpix (or Rokon, as it's known now) in preparation for my battle with Erika. I also plan to use Pidgeotto (Pigeon) in the battle, but there's a challenge - it won't learn a damage-inflicting Flying attack until level 31, at which point it'll exceed the 30-level mastery limit of the Cascade Badge and probably won't listen to me. Oh well, at least I still have Kadabra in the wings to take on the Poison sides of Erika's Pokémon (I'll let Vulpix have the pure-Grass Tangela).

Week 10 of the challenge. As ever this applies to both Red and Blue.

Levelled everyone up to Level 39 and then went to Viridian to beat Giovanni for the 8th gym badge.

After that I defeated the rival and headed to Victory Road to capture the Pokemon which would form the 140th entry in the Pokedex, Moltres.

I trained the top tens and the non evolveds up to Level 40 before heading off to the Elite Four whom I used for handy training. I evolved Arcanine and Cloyster when they reached Level 50 and Exeggutor when it reached Level 48. The main Pokemon however was Victreebel (Who I evolved at Level 49) as it was especially handy for sweeping Lorelei and Bruno.

After Dragonite reached Level 55 I had 149 in the Pokedex and therefore felt it was time to try my best to beat the Pokemon League which thankfully I did in both games. Red's Victreebel is currently at Level 87 and Blue's is at Level 81.

After that it was off to Cerulean Cave and a couple of Master Balls later I had Mewtwo for my Red and Blue games.

Then off to perform the Mew glitch, which worked handily both times, and I had all 151 individual pokemon in both Red and Blue. The first part of the challenge for both Red and Blue is over!

Here's the stats for the week

    Pokemon Red:

So, after blowing almost ALL of my money on goodies, I (think I am) ready for the Elite Four!

...Not exactly. APPARENTLY it's NOT a good idea to challenge the E4 when you're highest level Pokemon is only level 50. Oops.

So, because of that, I've been having to grind in Victory Road for so long, but I'm not even close to being done, since this sorta thing gives me NO motivation to play...

    UGH.

... This might be a while...

I've started again on Blue and i'm in the process of compiling a team that I can use on Pokémon Stadium to win cups.

I'm wanting a team that I can level up steadily, so it can compete and win me all 4 cups and also Gym Leader Castle, which means i'll have to keep them unevolved up until i've won the Petit Cup.

I've had to transfer a few Pokémon over from Silver to Blue in order to train them up, and in Staryu's case I had to breed a Starmie and hatch an egg to get it at Lv 5.

    Current Team:
    - Level 16 - Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, Quick Attack, Double Team
    - Level 16 - Poison Sting, Horn Attack, Double Kick, Leer
    - Level 15 - Fly, Fury Attack, Swift, Leer
    - Level 17 - Surf, Psychic, Thunder Wave, Rest
    - Level 8 - Teleport
    - Level 9 - Hypnosis, Bubble
    - Level 6 - Scratch, Defence Curl

So as you can see it's still a work in progress. I'm also looking for Chansey, Growlithe/Magmar and Dratini so that I can train them up and then i'll have a squad of about 10 Pokémon to choose teams from.

Spoiler:- Pokémon Stadium Pika Cup winning team:
