AncientGreymon and AncientGarurumon because, let's face it, they're the originals. It's their power being passed down to those who would eventually become Aldamon and Beowolfmon. AncientGrey and AncientGaruru are stronger, no contest. And for an in-universe example, AncientGreymon and AncientGarurumon defeated Lucemon. Aldamon and Beowolfmon had trouble with Duskmon.

AncientGreymon and AncientGarurumon because, let's face it, they're the originals. It's their power being passed down to those who would eventually become Aldamon and Beowolfmon. AncientGrey and AncientGaruru are stronger, no contest. And for an in-universe example, AncientGreymon and AncientGarurumon defeated Lucemon. Aldamon and Beowolfmon had trouble with Duskmon.

While I'm inclined to agree, there really is no in-universe example to go on. AncientGreymon and AncientGarurumon 1) were probably much more experienced, 2) only sealed Lucemon away and 3) had the help of eight other equally powerful allies who were or were nearly killed in the process (I don't know the exact specifics). In some places it says that all 10 ancients died in the battle just sealing Lucemon away.

I suppose, but if Aldamon and Beowolfmon went up against Lucemon even with the other eight Ancient warriors, forget about it.

I think the Ancient Digimon count as Mega II vs Aldamon and Beowolfmon who are closer to Mega I level. So imo the Ancient versions are far superior to the new forms. However thats not to say Alda and Beo couldn't win against their Ancient forms.

Against regular Rookie level Lucemon? I dunno about that. It's that which makes me question just how powerful the ancients were to the hybrid forms. Here's how I figure it:

Lucemon, after being freed in Frontier, could have destroyed the Chosen Children if he were powerful enough. There'd be no reason to let Dynasmon and Crusadermon have their last go at it. Some might say it's because he wanted their power in order to Digivolve and wanted them weakened, in which case I'd say that if he were strong enough he would have just killed them and taken their power. No, he needed them weakened.

And while I recognize that there is probably a difference in power between the Ancients and the double-evolved hybrids, there's really nowhere that says the hybrids aren't equal to the ancients either. In fact, it's usually the opposite. Most places I've read actually suggest that they were split into human and beast spirit. Wikimon explains it as "they were separated into two spirits each." While the Digimon wikia lists the characters of Frontier and says each ancient "consists of Xmon (human) and Ymon (beast)." Now, these are fan sites and can be changed, so that needs to be kept in mind. However, there is some supporting evidence from the anime.

Because there was never a digi-egg of any of the ancients shown it can be surmised that all of their data went into these spirits, as the remaining/lingering data (whether egg or reincarnation) would have otherwise been a major plot point and something for Lucemon to concern himself with (as even just the rookie-leveled Celestials showed some pretty amazing feats of power). Furthermore while addressing the children (in Digimon form), Lucemon doesn't differentiate them from the Ancients (this is mostly when facing MGarurumon and EGreymon and Susanoomon). Saying something akin to "I'm not the same Lucemon you faced before" while speaking about his new, evolved form. While this topic is about their lower forms, if Susanoomon was indeed supposed to possess (or exceed) the power of all 10 Ancients, then seeing as how the only powers that made up Susanoomon were the 20 spirits, it stands to reason that both Aldamon and Beowolfmon were, in fact, equal (or about equal) to their respective legendary counterparts.

Exactly, Griff. They'd have no chance. BUT, Frontier has almost as many plotholes and inconsistencies as Savers.

AGreymon and AGarurumon sealed Lucemon, so at least they won a fight (and most likely weakened Lucemon to the point of sealing him away), but MagnaGarurumon and EMperorGreymon were plowed by Dynasmon and that pink chick. If they fought Lucemon, they'd be creamed. They'd be the main ingredients of Lucemon's victory sandwhich.

And don't anyone try to tell me those two are weaker than the Ancients. Cause they're not.

From his silhouette that appeared in various episodes alongside the story of the Ancients defeating him, to his silhouette that appeared at the end of the opening within the circle of the 10 ancients, to Lucemon (Rookie)'s actual profile page talking about him instigating a rebellion. All accounts point to Chaos Mode being something he acquired after absorbing Dynasmon and Crusadermon.

With the will says that both Lucemon (rookie) and Lucemon Chaos Mode started the rebellion, so it really could be either. As for the silhouette, that could be for storytelling purposes; they weren't ready to reveal Chaos Mode yet and spoil the surprise. It seems more likely that he just took his rookie form in order to preserve energy after being defeated and sealed away.

A few months ago, I started watching Digimon. I had abandoned Digimon since primary school. But I really liked. I love how Digimon have seven digivolutions, while Pokemon have max. 3. I also like how there is more freedom in how similar they will be to their previous evo (e.g. Patamon to Angemon). However, sometimes they overdo it.. (e.g. Rosemon looks like a sl*t!) My fav season was Tamers
