Default Linoone, to use or not to use?

Basically, after watching my friend battle Norman, and have a problem with his Linoone in emerald, I have been questioning his, or her usefulness. Linoone has a good speed, from what I can tell, so I am just wondering about the success/failure stories of those who have used Linoone. If the majority of you say he is good, I might use him.

Anyways, this thread is kind of selfish, to help me decide if I should use Linoone, but the information could always help others.

Linoone was just my lazy surf slave.

Not a good poke, in my opinion.

Linoone should only be used to breed and for pickup. It has good speed, but it's other stats are....lacking.

Linoone is one of the many Pokemon whom may seem good at first but are best for one thing only: HM Slaves.

If you want, you might bea ble to use a Linoone in battle, but I catch a Zigzagoon ASAP in Emerald simply because of the fact it has Pick Up as an ability and it can learn Surf, Cut, and a few other decent HMs you'll use quite a bit.

I used it in a team, and it was actually decent. At least I think so.

I was able to beat the whole league in Emerald with just a Linoone at lv 100 with:

    Surf
    Thief
    Return
    Thunderbolt

    It was really effective.

Linoone is usually an HM slave, but it has its usefulness, such as Pickup. I personally believe it can be used decently for actual battling purposes, as it's helped me beat the games every time I use it in my party.

I have used Linoone in my team and I think Linoone is very good Pokemon, because it has Pick up and it can learn many moves.

Linone is a good & useful pokemon in my opinion.

    I would teach it:
    Headbutt/slash (Both useful stab moves)
Thunderbolt (Only use on pokemon that it is super effective on)
    Surf (Same as above)
Shadow ball (Good for smushing those pesky ghost types)

I have left Serebii for greener pastures. These pastures, to be specific.

linoone is not good in battles, but pickup is worth it though. it may work in battles if you get a good set, though.

Please please please give Linoone a try!!!

I was using a Linoone since I started Emerald and he didn't fail me! In fact, he helped me in the tightest moments ^_^

If you breed a decent IV's Linoone, give him a try. I was lucky to get a 20+ stat Ziggy in the game and with 30 Atk.

    Anyway, try using this:
    Linoone@Chesto Berry
    Adamant
    252 Attack 252 Speed 6 HP
    -Return
    -Shadow Ball
    -Belly Drum
    -Rest

That's what I use because I don't have Box nor anything nifty.First Belly Drum, then either start sweeping or instantly recover the damage or any status using Rest. Linoone is usually fast enough to outspeed many things in the game, so yeah. Beware of Mach Punchers and confusion after a Belly Drum (you basically kill yourself if you hit yourself while being confused -.-) ;p Dunno, you can use some of smoggy moveset if you have a Box Zigzagoon.

Linoone's a double edged sword. Either you instantly lose it or if you pull the strategy off, it sweeps almost everything =D

Ah yes, Pickup's good too indeed =D

Oh, and another edit: My Linoone's got me second silver symbol in Emerald. First Tucker, now Lucy's got pwned by my Belly Drum Linoone... and I havent used any other pokemon to battle =D
Doubting the use of Linoone? Now, try it out .. NOW =D Linoone owns Battle Frontier =D

I find Linoone to be very useful.

Sure, it doesn't exactly have high stats other than it's Speed. But this little warrior is worth every experience point you give it!

First of all, being a Normal-Type makes a Linoone weak only to Fighting type moves. It also is immune to all Ghost-type attacks, so remember that.
Since it has almost "godly" speed stats, even when it is up against a Fighting-type Pokemon, it can usually land a decent hit before being hit.
One thing I really loved about having a Linoone was it's surprising versatility in learning moves.

With one Linoone, I can easily K.O Ice, Rock, Water, Flying, Grass, Ground, Dragon and Fire-type Pokemon! All it takes is giving it the right moves to learn.

My Linoone, affectionately called Missile, knows:

    *Thunder
    *Blizzard
    *Surf
    *Iron Tail

Thunder, Blizzard and Iron Tail are VERY strong attacks with around 120 power.
Surf is also a fairly strong attack at 90 power.

Now some of you might say: "But Thunder, Blizzard and Iron Tail have low accuracy!"
Well, I don't know if it's for everyone, but I've observed that Linoone's are quite the sharpshooters in executing these hard-to-get-a-hit moves.
In all the ten Linoone's I've raised from eggs, all of them have very seldom ever missed their target.

To get an even stronger effect on the moves you use, I suggest equipping your Linoone with an Expert Belt, since it doubles the power of an attack that is super effective.
All in all, a Linoone isn't JUST an HM slave. It can be a very reliable and sturdy companion in battle that can win you many a battle as long as you train it well.

So yeah, it's a good Pokemon to use.
