Official R/S/E Recent Happenings Thread - Fresh Edition

So, did quite alot today.
I decided that I was leveled high enough, so I went to see my father. Battled a few trainers to get to Petalburgh, but I made it eventually.
After that I was about to have a nice conversation with my father, when we were rudely interrupted by some strange guy with green hair. I don't know what subculture he belongs to, but he must love vegetables.
For some reason my father didn't think that he was as rude, as he gave me the task of escorting this boy when he was going to catch his very first Pokémon. Sure enough, that one was green as well, but it looked a bit white in his face, just like the boy.
After that I went through the forest, avoiding poisoning and paralysis. I did have to battle a few trainers though, but my Torchic roasted them, since they only had bugs.
More battles after I left the forest, and then I finally reached Rustboro City.
I rushed to the gym, without healing and I let Lotad take out the first trainer. He did so with ease.
The second battle was a double battle after which: Congratulations, your TORCHIC evolved into COMBUSKEN. And it got Double Kick, sweet!
Then I rushed to battle the leader, Roxanne. First Geodude. Absorb, down. Second Geodude. Absorb, down. Third, Nosepass. Absorb didn't do that much, swiched to Combusken right as Nosepass used Block. Double Kick did the trick though and OHKO'd Nosepass, giving me the badge.

After that I had to recover the Devon Goods, I went to see Briney after I beat May. I also gathered all the PokeNav numbers I'd missed.
I quickly delivered the letter to Steven, and then went back to Rusboro to get myself an Exp. Share, which I immediately gave to my newest team member, Zubat.
Then I went back to Dewford and went to train into the Granite Cave.
And after a bit of lvling I saved.

I returned to Slateport and wanted to the give the Goods to Stern but he was at the museum which was somewhat under attack by Team Aqua! Two grunts attacked me but Grovyle fended them off. I gave him the goods and then headed north to Route 110 and battled the trainers as well as took on the Trick House at which point Whismur evolved. With that done I continued north and May challenged me. Loudred beat Wingull with Uproar, Gulpin barely defeated Combusken with repeated use of Sludge, and then Grovyle beat her Lombre with Pursuit. She gave me an Itemfinder and then I continued on battling trainers until I reached Mauville City.

PROBLEM: My emerald deleted m progress! It said: Game file has been deleted by corruption or damage, the game can now be played. Does this mean my Emerald won't save again?

I battled all the trainers on the beach and got the Soda Pop and then dealt with Team Aqua. I beat them and delivered the Devon Goods safely. I then went North onto that route, completed the Trick House and beat all the trainers on the route West of the trick house. I then went East and battled the trainer and came across May. Sadly to say, I have battled her about 5 times and STILL cannot beat her. It's always her Marshtomp and Mud Shot that I get killed by. I did a little training and caught a few low levels to see if they could help in any way but still she beat me. I went back to Rustboro to get the Exp. Share and attached it to the newly caught Electrike that I have now decided to train. I stopped as I was getting annoyed by May.

Ok I am joining in the R/S/E playthrough group! Though I will not do new game because I am currently in Dewford so there's not much to re-do anyways XD

So after capturing the Aron I basically just trained it to level 18 before the second gym!! I finished the gym, mainly cuz of Marshtomp! After, I went back to Petalburg woods and caught myself my third team member, a Slakoth! I need it because I need another early game Pokemon since my next one will only be caught after the fourth gym (i think) and i dont wanna wait!

Looks like Kirlia doesn't even learn Magical Leaf and Combusken doesn't learn ANY good moves until ages away. Jeez I guess I really AM stuck.

Just try and see if you can save.

So yesterday and today I played more.

I trained my pokemon in Granite cave until they were around level 19-20, except for Kadabra who was lvl 16 and then challenged Brawly. I decided to use Kadabra for the trainers and other pokemon for Brawly. The gym fight wasn't really difficult, my pokemon were able to take everything down in a few moves.

So afterwards I went to Slateport. I went directly to the pokemon center and then decided to leave to Rustboro again to fight my Rival again, since I saw everyone doing that and didn't want to miss on the extra exp. ... And somewhere after Petalburg woods I accedentally teleported back to Slateport, yay -.- I was a little panicking because Briney was probably still at Petalburg. I defeated the Aqua gang, delivered Devon Goods and then defeated the beach trainers... and saw Briney, woot! Alright, once again I headed back to Rustboro, this time to fetch the EXP share and I got it too. Rival was nowhere to see. I guess the battle isn't included in Sapphire. I often forget I am not playing Emerald, like everyone else and there are some minor differences, obviously.

Afterwards I teleported to Slateport and headed towards Mauville. I beat the trainers on the way, visited Trick House and easily owned everyone ^^ Also fought the rival, had no difficulties either, Combusken was OHKO'd by Kadabra and the rest was easy too. In Mauville, I stopped at the POKE center, got Mach bike and went left towards Verdanturf. Cleared the route on the way, went back to Mauville and decided to challenge the Gym. Most of the battles before I fought with Aron, so that he can take down Wattson's Magnemite and Magneton if I am in a pinch.

The gym trainers were not particularly difficult, my pokemon could handle them easily. The occasional Magnemites were taken down by Aron's Mud Slap, same for Wattson's Magnemite. Voltorb faced my Grovyle and apparently my attacks didn't do a lot of damage to it. Then, it decided to Selfdestruct before I was about to deal the finishing blow, Grovyle fainted. Next was Magneton and I switched in Kadabra. Magneton used Thunder Wave and it got synchronized back at it, allowing me to take it down with Kadabra easily, despite the resistances.

So, gym badge aquired, I headed south-east to get Rock Smash. Then cleared that tunnel and happily watched the couple leave. My work was done here, so the only thing left was go north of Mauville. The last thing I did was challenging the Winstrate family. Had little problems there too, as my pokemon are properly leveled.

Anyway, I'm now back to Pokecenter and saved there.

Okay. In Ruby, surfed around Pacifidlog Town and fought trainers to make my team stronger.

Got a TM Return from the .... President guy xD

It should be able to save, but there is a possibility that it can happen again.

Did quite some levelgrinding, since I had a Zubat to catch up, and the first decent attack only came at lvl 21.
As soon as Zubat learned Wing Attack, I went to Brawley's gym, and I fought all the gym trainers with Zubat.
Then, by sheer luck, the last trainer I had to beat before I had to fight Brawley: Congratulations, your ZUBAT evolved into GOLBAT
Sweet, one more evolution, and just before the leader
Brawley got KO'd in every round. DING
Golbat absol-utely beat back Brawley using it's Wings. It managed to OHKO every single one of his pokemon, even Makuhita, his strongest.
Then, together with the Captain, I set sail to Slateport, to deliver the Devon Goods. There, in the Slateport museum, tho ordinairy team Aqua thiefs wanted to steal those goods. I didn't agree with them, so they left in tears, after their boss gave me a speech. Not sure what was in it though..

Well turns out I didn't save correctly, so I lost my Beautifly -_-
Oh well, don't feel like going back now, just gonna keep training Slakoth. I was at the granite cave, battling with Aron while Slakoth had the exp. share, but it was taking too long so I just kept going to Slateport city. We battled all the beach trainers, and that got our Pokemon a bit more leveled up.

140 xp is not that bad, just takes some time..

I had another battle with May and used a different strategy. I let Kirlia use Double Team so that I could get the chance to use a couple of Calm Mind's and then got a lucky critical hit Confusion which OHKO'd Marshtomp! The others were easy. I moved on battling all the trainers in my way until I reached Mauville City. I then battled all the trainers East from Mauville and then I challenged the gym. The trainers weren't that hard and Watson wasn't that hard except from Manectric because I was unprepared. I then proceeded West and battled all the trainers there, dropped Electrike in the Daycare for no reason (decided not to use it) and arrived at the next town. I done all that Rock Smash stuff and got the GM Strength. I headed back to Mauville, restored and went off North to continue my journey. I beat the Winstrates quite easily, used rock smash up ahead and saved after beating the interviewers.

Reached Mauville City. Time to go back to Slatport! Thankfully, I have a bike.

When I got to Mauville the first thing I did was get Rock Smash and I taught it to Loudred. Then I went and grabbed the Mach Bike and headed down the Cycling Path beating all the Magnemite with Loudred's Rock Smash. I cycled back to Mauville when I was done and I decided to take out the trainers east and north (including the Winstrates) for extra experience. While battling I decided that I didn't really want to use Altaria, which would have been my fourth team member. I'm not a big fan of the Flying types of Hoenn, and since I only want to use Hoenn Pokemon for this playthrough I decided I will just use an HM slave for a Flyer. But now I needed a new fourth team member and with a lot of consideration I went back to Route 110 to catch a new Pokemon.

Since everyone has looked at my team already I'm sure you all know it is Electrike. I've never beat R/S/E while using one before so I figured, "Ehh, why not?" It took EIGHT tries before I captured one that didn't have Lightning Rod or a -Sp Atk nature but I finally did it. The good news is that during all the wild Pokemon encounters Gulpin evolved! Once I had a semi decent Electrike I returned to Rustboro and got the Exp Share. Then I was taking on trainers west of Mauville for extra experience, as well as fighting wild Illumise for decent experience. When everyone was defeated I headed to the gym and took on Wally. Once he ran away in fear returned to Verdanturf I entered the gym and took on the 5 gym trainers before taking a break.
