How would Ash and May look if they were older? (Can be any age. 20, 30, 40, etc.) And how would their lives be?:

Depends on your perspective of 'older' Some like to see a 20 year old all buff and hot while others see a 20 year old still acting like they were 17. To me, if I do write a story where I say "Ash is 20, May is 18" which I don't do that much of anymore I would make sure their appearance would look different in each story I write. Like for one I might make Ash 20 but he still acts like he is still 10 while in another he is cold, snobby and mean. Same rules apply to May or to any character really.

LuciferIX and I actually collaborated on the revival of my fan-fic, and his reviews more or less got me back into this game to finish up my story.

When it comes to the actual appearance of the characters, I agree with what you brought up in the notion that the appearance should suit the type of story one tells. For instance, in a pure romance story, one might seek to make Ash lithe, because he does not need to be physically imposing to be in love, or to make him Fabio-esque with bulging muscles and long, rippling hair. Nonetheless, the appearance should suit what function the character plays in the story and their characterization. There's a great quote attributed to Matt Smith, who plays the Doctor on Doctor Who, that best summarizes this. He said that, originally, his version of the Doctor was going to look similar to a pirate with a long, black trench coat, so think Neo meets Jack Sparrow. He said that the costume "sounded like what someone would dress the Doctor in, but not how the Doctor would dress himself." This quote has always stuck with me, and I agree with it completely. You should always think about how the character would dress themselves or look if they themselves were in charge of their appearance given their circumstances in the story, and ignore your own opinions of what would "look cool." The characters come across as more real when they sound, look, and act like the author has sincerely taken the character's feelings into consideration.

For instance, in my first story After Hoenn: The Journey of Faith, Ash and May look radically different than they do in PKM Rangers, specifically because they're different people. In the first story, Ash is scrappy and compact, specifically because he has been living a hard life in Orre that has slimmed him down while retaining a great deal of muscle because of his fights in underground battles with Pokémon. Similarly, May is portrayed as a battered woman would, with a weaker body and little self-esteem, because that's what the story required. Alternatively, Ash is designed to be heavier in PKM Rangers, with a tanned body, huge muscles, and a new, distinctive accent because the story required he be as different as possible from who he is in the series. May is tougher too, and it shows in how tough her face and body are. She might not be as muscular, but her portrayal has an inner strength that has made her the core of the story. In both examples, the characters are radically different, but their portrayals sit right with what they are going through in my narrative.

Yes, I agree with you once more. In my stories I normally don't say to everyone "Hey, Ash is 20 and May is 19 and etc" I would normally write it once and completely forget about it or sometimes say that Ash has been travelling for X amount of years. I don't want people to read my stories thinking Ash and May are still ten because if I don't, why should they?

I personally don't see Ash all buffy like his been living in a gym for his whole life but if my story requires Ash to have physical changes like gaining muscles then so be it. But at the same time I like to think "Does Ash want to see himself like this?" I mean this is a boy who is happy to wear a shirt and track pants. If your going to change his lifestyle at least have a damn good reason behind it. If not, don't even bother. Stay on the safe side until you are confident to change him or any other character.

Kingdom Hearts Series

Ash would he Sora, which makes sense because he's an innocent kid who loves to battle, which Sora does with his final Fantasy friends and Riku. Riku would be Paul. In the animé, Paul is so careless and unsocial. because he's friends with Ash in Destiny Islands, he'll have to be nicer than what you're used to. either way, it Paul fits with Riku's search for power, even if it means choosing darkness. and of course, they both have secret feelings for Kairi, a.k.a. May. so May would the most caring person you can imagine, but she'll be about 13, meaning, like Kairi, she'll possess some childish traits. maybe Ash, while in his journey, can have flashbacks of May and him, some funny, some warmhearted, some involving Paul, and some that make you believe in true love. instead of Keyblades, Ash (and Paul) will use Pokemon. no one in Destiny Islands has Pokémon, so when the island is being eaten by Heartless, Ash will see a sleeping Pikachu, and the mysterious voice from the beginning of the game will ask him if he has the strength to fight? the courage to stand for what is right? the will to overcome? Ash accepts by petting Pikachu, who awakens.
the Heartless would still be in the fanfic, just because it's a bit ridiculous to make them all Pokémon. only the bosses would be Pokemon. they'd be similar to shadow Pokémon, meaning they would have shadow moves, some perhaps that are made up. when Ash arrives at Traverse Town, Donald would be Iris because she's so quick-tempered and she believes in mystical forces, so wizardry is right up her ally. I guess Goofy could be Brock, even though that means his character will be very different from the anime. for example, instead of wise and full of advice, he would be nonchalant and talk with an accent that people would interpret as assuming he's stupid, when he actually has his own kind of intelligence. Leon's crew could be made up of Gary as Leon, Dawn as Yuffie, Misty as Aerith, and Tracy as Sid. Leon is cool just by saying little to nothing, and he's strong, which makes sense for Gary. Yuffie, like Dawn, is very positive. Dawn would have to be more acrobatic than readers are used to. Aerith would be Misty, because Misty is the calmest girl in the animé when she's not being rowdy and tomboyish, meaning those 2 aforementioned traits would have to disposed of for this fic. I can definitely see Tracy being tech-savvy like Sid. plus, he's older than the others. instead of being nice like in the anime, he'll be rough n' tough, but still care about his friends. all of them, plus Iris and Brock, would have Pokémon. Iris' pokemon would specialize in Sp. Atk while Brock's Pokémon would specialize in Def. Ash could encounter new, wild Pokémon in the various worlds he enters, sometimes catching them, sometimes helping them (because if he catches all of them, then readers will see it coming the second each one is introduced). this may sound crazy, but it might make sense to keep the Disney villains and characters the way they are. there is no way you could replace them all with Pokémon characters. plus, it's a crossover, so maybe it's not so crazy. Queen Minnie and Daisy would be Delia Ketchum and Cilan, respectively. I'm not entirely sure if they're in the first game, so I'm doing it just in case. I chose Cilan for Daisy Duck solely because Iris is Donald Duck (I ship them). that duo could provide comic relief whenever the opportunity arises. I would make King Mickey a Sir Aaron look-alike. he's noble and powerful and already has the attire to rule a kingdom, so there's not much to change about him for this part. what about Giovanni? simple: he's Ansem.

so in conclusion, Ash, Iris, and Brock will journey together, fighting Heartless and shadow Pokemon, meeting/catching new Pokemon, fighting alongside Disney characters to defeat their foes, encountering Paul from time to time, which is usually followed by emotional dialogue and fierce fighting, ultimately to save May and the Disney princesses and put a stop to Giovannni's dark plans.

@flamebeam: Yes, Cameron is a BW character. He shows up in the league. If you do ever do want to catch up and see him, you'll see he'll fit into the role of Goofy quite well.

Call me crazy, but I think that they could fit into Sonic the Hedgehog. You can guess who I'd say Ash would be, and May would be Amy. She wouldn't be a crazy stalker, but maybe she could follow Ash around the Regions because she loves him. I know it's a bit of a crappy comparison, but could work if it was pulled off right. To be honest, I think that it could be quite a funny combo if it was made to be lighthearted.

Might as well say how I became an Advanceshipper because I can. :P I became an Advanceshipper because of the fanfics I've been reading over a few weeks. Fiercer Than a Legendary and Sapphire Desire to name a couple. They're both great and I already thought that Ash loved May since I was a kid.

I'd love for it to be a slow paced slice of life show. Just them living out their daily lives in peace, not to mention some humor and cuteness added in. There was a time when I mostly enjoyed shounen shows, now my tastes mainly lean towards the seinen slice of life genre as I grow older.

I would say "hero" by Mariah Carey as u know ash is always there to save and protect may from virtually anything and may would do the same too. Such as in the episode the land of the grass pokemon attacked may, despite the warnings ash persuaded the rest to save her.
