There was this one-shot I read, where May was in love with Ash, but then while he's asleep he whispered Misty's name. It really broke my heart, but it was really good angst. I can't remember the name though. xD

Found it! It's called, "What You Can Never Have" by Seniya. That's sad.

I think the saddest fic I read was from a different fandom, but the author who wrote it based it off of herself. It made me cry. I'm probably going to read it again to get some inspiration for the advanceshipping fic then.
