Joking aside, I would probably start with Eevee, so many evolution possabilities, along with one of my favs, Glaceon.

i'd like to repeat what about a dozen people before me said, and go with abra. great evolutions, and it's just a good pokemon.

plus it saves you the trouble of catching it, what with it's constantneed to teleport at the start of EVERY battle.

depending on the type of pkmn world we're in I'd pick Torchic, Chimchar, Riolu, or Pachirisu. If we were in a more anime-driven world, i would pick Pachirisu, cuz i know it has magic Icon powers like Pikachu =_=". but if we were in the game's context, id go w/ one of the 1st three, likely Riolu.
