    Default The Official PMD2: Explorers of Time/Darkness Boss Walkthrough

    Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness Boss FAQ.
    *Credit to sites that helped me at bottom*

    A little note, if you are stuck on a tough boss, use a violent seed and then a super effective attack- instant win.***
    Also, there are certain items needed for some boss fights, noted at the bottom of this post.

    ========================================
    1st Boss of the game: Team Skull's Koffing and Zubat- Beach Cave
    ========================================
    Levels: Zubat is lv.3, Koffing is Lv.6
    Types: Zubat is Poison/Flying, Koffing is Poison
    Abilities: Zubat has Inner Focus, Koffing has Levitate
    --------------------------------------------------
    First of all, this is a fairly easy battle, so I don't think you are going to need a Reviver Seed. Also, Zubat should be pretty easy, so take him out first, and hope that your partner goes for Koffing. Koffing will be just a bit harder, but don't worry, you should've already grown 1-2 levels in Beach Cave. Just use your strongest attacks and you'll be fine.

    ========================================
    2nd Boss of the game: Drowzee- Mt. Bristle
    ========================================
    Level: 12
    Type: Psychic
    Ability: Insomnia and Forewarn
    --------------------------------------------------
    First of all, DO NOT use Sleep Seeds; they won't have any effect on Drowzee because of Insomnia. If you have Stun Seeds or (Recommended) X-Eye Seeds, use them. It's also safe to bring a few Reviver Seeds. Other than that just use your strongest attacks and you'll be fine.

    =======================================
    3rd Boss of the game: Groudon- Steam Cave
    =======================================
    Level: 30
    Type: Ground
    Ability: Drought
    --------------------------------------------------
    Trip up his movements with Sleep and Stun Seeds. Also, with Groudon’s drought ability on, it will halve the damage from Water-type attacks. Also, bring as many Reviver Seeds as you possibly can. Just because Groudon is a Ground type doesn't mean he only has Ground type moves, his Fire Blast can deal major damage to grass types, especially since Drought is on.

    ======================================
    4th Boss of the game: Luxray and 8 Luxio- Amp Plains
    ======================================
    Level: Luxray is Lv.33, The Luxio are all Lv.18
    Type: All of them are Electric
    Ability: All of them have Rivalry and Intimidate
    --------------------------------------------------
    This is probably one of the hardest bosses you'll face if you or your partner is a water type, but if you have a move like Earthquake or an Electrike to draw in all Electric attacks with Lightningrod, it should be easy. Just bring a lot of Reviver Seeds and use a Stun or Sleep Seed on Luxray, and then take on the Luxio one at a time. Also, if you don't win the first time, just keep trying until you do.
    =======================================
    5th Boss of the game: Mesprit- Quicksand Cave
    =======================================
    Level: 18
    Type: Psychic
    Ability: Levitate
    --------------------------------------------------
    Mesprit should be really easy, but it has the healing move Rest. To avoid that, use a Sleep Seed, and then just keep hitting it with your strongest moves. Just don't use Fighting or Ground moves. Also, since this is an easy boss, you don't really need any Reviver Seeds because you should be at a pretty high level especially if you had trouble with Luxray and his Luxio.

    =======================================
    6th Boss of the game: Grovyle- Crystal Crossing
    =======================================
    Level: 44
    Type: Grass
    Ability: Overgrow
    --------------------------------------------------
    Grovyle's tough if you're Mudkip. But if you are a Fire type, Grovyle will be pretty easy, but if not, bring a couple of Reviver Seeds. Also, you want to definitely bring some Sleep Seeds and X-Eye Seeds-They work wonders in this battle. Along with that, the only other information about this boss is be careful with Grovyle's Overgrow ability. Once Grovyle's HP is at about 25%, his Grass type moves are twice as strong. So be careful.

    =======================================
    7th Boss of the game: Spiritomb- Sealed Ruin
    =======================================
    Level: 37
    Type: Ghost/Dark
    Ability: Pressure
    --------------------------------------------------
    DO NOT use Normal, Fighting, and Psychic type moves. They will only deliver 0.7 times their regular damage. Along with that, bring Stun, Sleep, and Heal Seeds, along with any Reviver Seeds you can find. The reason you want to bring Heal Seeds is because Spiritomb uses tons of status changing moves. Also, keep in mind that this boss has no weakness.

    =======================================
    8th Boss of the game: Kabutops And 2 Omastar- Brine Cave
    =======================================
    Level: Kabutops is lv.42, The Omastar are lv.35
    Type: All three are Rock/Water
    Ability: Both have Swift Swim, Kabutops has Battle Armor, while the Omastar have Shell Armor (both do the same thing)
    --------------------------------------------------
    If you are a Fire type, this will be a hard battle unless your partner is Pikachu, or if you are Pikachu, use Discharge if available. Use Sleep Seeds to immobilize Kabutops, then take on the Omastar with Grass, Fighting, and Electric moves, and then go after Kabutops. Also, bring about 2-3 Reviver Seeds.

    =======================================
    9th Boss of the game: Dusknoir and 6 sableye- Hidden Land
    =======================================
    Levels: Dusknoir is lv.45, the Sableye are lv.38
    Types: Dusknoir is Ghost, Sableye are Dark and Ghost
    Abilities: Dusknoir has Pressure, Sableye have Keen Eye And Stall
    --------------------------------------------------
    This is a VERY hard fight, but thank God you have Grovyle with you, or this would be hell. You want to have Discharge on hand, but if not, bring some Reviver Seeds, Stun Seeds, X-Eye Seeds, and Sleep Seeds and immobilize Dusknoir first, then take on the Sableye. Also remember that Fighting and Normal type moves won't do anything here, along with the fact that Sableye has no weakness.

    =======================================
    10th Boss of the game: Primal Dialga- Temporal Pinnacle
    =======================================
    Level: 48
    Type: Steel/Dragon
    Ability: Pressure
    --------------------------------------------------
    Bring about 5-8 Reviver Seeds and use you're best Fighting and Ground type moves on this boss. Along with that, bring many X-Eye Seeds and Sleep Seeds and use them on your first turn to buy yourself some time and to keep Dialga from using his potential One Hit KO move Roar of Time. However, after Dialga uses it, he can't move, so use a Sleep or X-Eye on that turn, and just keep hitting him with Ground and Fighting moves, and if you don't have those kinds of moves, use multiple hitting moves like Bullet Seed, because that's what I did, and every time Dialga got hit by bullet seed, he would sustain 100 or so damage (but I was level seventy-something). If those kinds of moves don't work to well, use moves that are the same type as your Pokemon, they will do a lot more damage. Also, use ranged attacks, they circumvent Dialga's intimidate.***

    =======================================
    Post-Ending Bosses
    =======================================

    =======================================
    1st Post Ending Boss: Wigglytuff and Guild members-Mystifying Forest
    =======================================
    Levels: Wigglytuff is lv.50, Chatot is lv.45, Sunflora, Corphish, Chimecho, Loudred, Diglett, and Dugtrio are lv.35
    Types: Wigglytuff, Chatot, and Loudred are normal, Diglett and Dugtrio are Ground, Sunflora is grass, and Corphish is water.
    Abilities: Wigglytuff has Cute Charm, Chatot has Keen Eye and Tangled Feet, Sunflora has Chlorophyll and Solar Power, Corphish has Hyper Cutter, Chimecho as Levitate, Loudred has Soundproof, Diglett and Dugtrio have Sand Veil and Arena Trap.
    --------------------------------------------------
    1st of all, Sleep Seeds won't work here because of Chatot and Loudred's Uproar, which makes your enemies Sleepless. Along with that, Chimecho is extreemely dangerous so defeat it ASAP. Bring plenty of Reviver Seeds, cause this battle gets tough. Also, since Uproar affects all the enemy Pokemon, Stun Seeds are a no-go(correct me if I'm wrong, but I think stun seeds don't lose their effect on a Pokemon with the sleepless condition if they get hit by Uproar). Also, if you have any moves like Discharge or Earthquake, use them. Or you can go after Wigglytuff first, Because most of your enemies have Bodyguard and the attack you use against Wigglytuff will be directed to the others if she has low HP. If you go with discharge, keep in mind that Diglett and Dugtrio are ground types, so take care of them after everyone else has been defeated by discharge. If you go with earthquake, keep in mind that your partner will get hit too, and Chatot and Chimecho will not sustain alot of damage, so bring extra Reviver Seeds.

    =======================================
    2nd Post-Ending Boss: Froslass-Crevice Cave
    =======================================
    Level: 41
    Type: Ice/Ghost
    Ability: Snow Cloak
    --------------------------------------------------
    Before Froslass gets the chance to freeze you, use a Stun Seed, X-Eye Seed, or Totter Seed to immobilize her. Then hit her hard with Fire, Rock, Ghost, Dark, and Steel moves, but remember that normal moves will do only half the damage. If you are a type that is weak against the ice type, bring a couple of Reviver Seeds along and you'll be fine.

    ======================================
    3rd Post-Ending Boss: Gyarados-Miracle Sea
    ======================================
    Level: 46
    Type: Water/Flying
    Ability: Intimidate
    --------------------------------------------------
    Gyarados is a hard-hitting boss, so immobilize him with a Sleep or X-Eye Seed, or just hit him with a powerful Electric type move such as Discharge, and it'll do 1.96 times more damage. If you don't have any Electric type moves, you can use Grass, Rock, and Ice moves, which are regularly effective here. It's also a good idea to bring a few Reviver Seeds.

    =====================================
    4th Post-Ending Boss: Regigigas and the 3 Regis-Aegis Cave
    =====================================
    Level: Regigigas is Lv.49, Registeel is Lv.46, Regice is Lv.46, Regirock is Lv.46, and Regigigas's 4 Hitmonlee and 4 Bronzong are Lv.35
    Type: Regigigas is Normal, Regice is Ice, Regirock is Rock, Registeel is Steel, the Hitmonlee are Fighting, and the Bronzong are Psychic and Steel.
    Ability: Regigigas has Slow Start, the Regis have Clear Body, the Hitmonlee have Limber and Reckless, and the Bronzong have Levitate and Heatproof.
    ------------------------------------------------
    Part A: Regice:
    Regice is fairly easy to defeat, just use a Sleep Seed to immobilize it and then hit it hard with Rock, Fire, And Steel moves.

    Part B: Regirock:
    Like Regice, Regirock is easy to defeat as well, just immobilize it with a Sleep Seed and use Fighting, Ground, Water, Grass, and Steel moves to defeat him.

    Part C: Registeel:
    Again, like the others, this one is easy, just immobilize it and use Fire, Fighting, and Ground moves to win.

    Part D: Regigigas:
    This is the tough one, but luckily you get a little help from Team Charm. To defeat Regigigas and his 8 allies, you wanna bring a few Reviver Seeds, which can sometimes be found in Aegis Cave, so you can hang in there a while. Use a Sleep Seed to immobilize Regigigas, and then use Earthquake, it can kill of the Hitmonlee, but with Bronzong's Levitate, you'll have to rely on moves such as Discharge to take them out. And if you don't want to be confused, bring a Persim Band. Finally, go after Regigigas with some Fighting moves until he is defeated. Also, Bronzong has Sunny Day, which is great help if you have a Fire-type on hand, but be aware that Regigigas has Fire Punch. And lastly, Regigigas has the IQ skill Intimidator, so get as far away from him as you can and use ranged moves on him.

    =======================================
    5th Post-Ending Boss: Palkia-Deep Spacial Rift
    =======================================
    Level: 48
    Type: Water/Dragon
    Ability: Pressure
    --------------------------------------------------
    You have already defeated Dialga, and Palkia isn't all that different. It has the Intimidator IQ skill just like Dialga, but Palkia has Spacial Rend, a powerful move like Dialga's Roar of Time, but Palkia doesn't need to rest after it uses it, so to stop him from attacking at all, just use a Sleep or X-Eye Seed to immobilize him. Don't worry about having moves that are super-effective against Palkia, because you can't bring anyon into Spacial Rift, and I doubt you're going to have any Dragon-type moves. So use a long ranged special move like Bullet Seed to hit Palkia numerous times, and possibly KOing it.

    =======================================
    6th Post-Ending Boss: Darkrai-Deep Dark Crater
    =======================================
    Level: Darkrai is Lv.53, His allys, Arbok, Magmortar, Rhyperior, Aggron, and Magcargo are Lv. 36, while Mismagius is Lv.35
    Type: Darkrai is Dark, Arbok is Poison, Magmortar is Fire, Aggron is Steel/Rock, Rhyperior is Rock/Ground, Magcargo is Fire/Rock, and Mismagius is Ghost.
    Ability: Darkrai has Bad Dreams, Arbok has Intimidate and Shed Skin, Rhyperior has Lightningrod and Solid Rock, Magmortar has Flam Body, Aggron has Sturdy and Rock Head, Magcargo has Magma Armor and Flame Body, and Mismagius has Levitate.
    --------------------------------------------------
    First of all, you want to immobilize Darkrai with a Sleep or X-Eye Seed
    and then go after his allys with moves like Earthquake (Be careful when using Earthquake, it can hurt your partner too, but not Cresselia because of Levitate, but just bring a couple of Reviver Seeds if you are going with Earthquake.). But don't forget Mismagius has Levitate, Spite, and Confuse Ray, so you wanna go after it first. When you are finished with those guys, go after Darkrai, and use moves that hit numerous times such as Bullet Seed, or just use your best Fighting moves, but if Darkrai wakes up, immediately use a Sleep Seed, because if Cresselia faints because of Darkrai's Dark moves, you have to re-battle him, so bring about 5-7 Reviver Seeds and protect Cresselia at all costs, she is much more fragile than the other team members and will definitely lose to Darkrai.

    Although we have this information in the PMD2 Strategy Guide, I might have probably missed a thing or two when writing it. And seeing as how you've worked quite well on this, I'll just add a link to this in the rules/directory thread that is already stickied.
    Closing, because this doesn't require much discussion.
