What keeps you playing the 3rd Generation?

It was my first Pokemon game and too many people play 4th or 5th gen. It's just way to stay unique.

i still play because after the hoenn pokedex the pokemon started becoming less and less creative

Hoenn is my second favourite region and I also like the majority of Gen III mons, so it's good when I have a lot of pokemon I like to choose from (also hard aswell, I guess). I just find them more enjoyable than some of the other generations.

I lost my Saphhire so my only Gen 3 game is FG,And the story is great

I had my emerald and spent countless hours on that game. Only game where i had lvl 100s. had my truly favorite tyranitar and blaziken in that game T_T. Who knows where i left it today lol. But gen 3 is by far my most favorite. might look into buying it again for the fun.

They have some of my favorite Pokemon (though my 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th favorite Pokemon are from gen4-5) and even beyond those I still like a lot of the Pokemon in the main stories.
Oh, and also there's no Toxic Orb Gliscors.

My biggest reason is probably because with the introduction of the Hoenn region pokemon started to look more and more wierd/less natural/dumb. On the whole I didn't like Hoenn region pokemon compared to Kanto/Johto, but they were much better than Sinnoh pokemon (and Unova since its come out). I completely lost interest when Sinnoh came along, I recently started a re-run of FR but before that I hadn't played for years.

I agree, I also lost interest when Sinnoh came around. Before the fourth generation, I had every single Pokemon game. I think LeafGreen would be worth another play just to add some more legends to my HeartGold game to use for trades.

I feel like the third gen is much faster paced. 4th and 5th are more story based and have much more "hand holding", if you will. There's nothing wrong with plot focused, but sometimes I want to play a more traditional Pokemon game.

3rd gen became my favorite when I realized that I didn't really care for 5th gen.

I'm considering buying a 3rd gen game since I don't have Ruby anymore. I can buy all 5 gen 3 games on Ebay for around $35 TOTAL.

I play them for shiny hunting really, it's fun to play through them as well.

Leafgreen was the first pokemon game I played, so that game made me play because of memories.

In my opinion, Emerald had one of the best story lines of any Pokemon game and the post game "Battle Frontier" plus extra safari zone areas just completed the game for me.

Hoenn is my favorite region but what keeps me playing it is when the weather crisis happens. And its music is the best of any game in my opinion until gen V happened. That Magma/Aqua boss music is awesome

I keep playing 3rd gen games because I like to juggle as many Nuzlockes as I can without going insane.

Okay, that's not entirely true. I've done Nuzlockes in LeafGreen, Emerald, I'm in the middle of Gale, and occasionally I'll mess around with the sololocke I got going in Ruby. It's a fresh spin on the games I used to play back when I didn't have AP classes and high school in general. It's like a semi-blind run for me when I do these Nuzlockes.

I didn't lose interest in Pokemon when 4th gen came out, but I didn't like the music of Sinnoh, either.

So it's mostly for the nostalgia factor, but it's also for the great music, the memories, and in the case of Gale, dex completion.

And yes, I'll migrate and shift the mons I have from 3rd gen to 5th gen. Most of my best mons are from 3rd gen.
