    Default Favorite R/S BGM

What is your favourite BGM from R/S.
Mine has to be the Elite Four theme and the Frontier Brain theme as they were both energetic and nice themes to listen to. I also liked the Rayquaza
    appears theme.

These games had another sweet soundtrack. My favorites would be the following:

    • Route 101
    • Regular Trainer battle Theme
    • Gym Leader battle Theme
    • Abandoned Ship
    • Rival battle Theme
    • Route 117
    • Slateport City
    • Mt. Pyre (outside/top)
    • Battle Frontier
    • Battle Dome
    • Battle Tower
    • Frontier Brain battle Theme
    • Lilycove City
    • Sky Pillar
    • Safari Zone
    • Route 119
    • Groundon/Kyogre/Rayquaza battle Theme
    • Regi battle Theme

There's probably more but this was all I could think of at the moment. A really good soundtrack all around, though not my absolute favorite in the series. I like it, and I have to say that overall, I prefer the R/S/E soundfont over the one in FR/LG. I haven't played the remakes so I don't know how the soundtrack was changed there, and whether it was for the better or worse, but I do enjoy most of the music in these Hoenn games at least.

There are many pieces of music from the RSE games that I love. I don't really feel like writing about all of them atm, though, so I'll just talk about my top 3:

Gym Leader battle - love this battle theme a lot. Hoenn definitely has my favourite Gym Leader theme out of all the regions so far.
Sootopolis City - probably my #1 city/town music in all of Pokemon. Sounds so mystical to me.
Meteor Falls - I only really came to appreciate this theme within the last year or so. I think it sounds lovely and kind of mysterious or magical I guess.

I absolutely loved the Route 111 Desert Music and Meteor Falls music
But I never liked the Trick House music that was really annoying! The bicycle music is annoying too!

I am a major fan of this theme too. I always have a battle against a Brain recorded on my Frontier Pass in Emerald so that I can hear the theme whenever I want.
There's something about it that just sounds so ominous to me. I love it.

My favorite - well, one of my favorites - would have to be the Mt. Chimney theme. As a theme it captures the grandeur of Mt Chimney very well and fits the situation its first encountered in perfectly. I particularly enjoy the solo percussion bits very well.

One of the things I like about the R/S/E soundtrack is simply how "exotic" the sounds were and are, in comparison to the (in my opinion) dull soundtrack of D/P/Pt and the more synth-esque B/W/B2/W2 soundtrack. And of course the X/Y/OR/AS sounds were very well for their games but truly I don't think it's a very good horn sound they have.

Take for example Mt. Pyre's Outer Wall. It starts slowly with the drums, then brings in horns with a dreary backing-sound before going to a more Middle-Eastern-ish sound, with the seeming mimicry of one of the instruments along with the strange synth-y sound and the 8-bit-alike beats. It goes back to the horns, mixing it with the Middle Eastern flavor a little before going right back to the ME-ish sound.

A real contender for my absolute favorite RSE soundtrack would be the Victory Road theme. In my opinion it's the only one that captures the challenge of Victory Road. It opens with rising horns before switching to something much grander, implementing bells to give it a more "epic" feel. (A grand musical tradition: take a grand horn and drums theme and add a bell or too in specific places.) It gives the impression of always rising, ascending, and the military-like drum beat that's always progressing through the piece adds to that feel.

Even if the instruments/samples and in particular the drums don't, in many cases, really sound like they're "real" instruments they're still one of the best-sounding and most "exotic" soundpalettes that Pokemon has ever had and it's for that reason that I still listen to some of my favorite tracks regularly.

Of the Emerald-exclusive BGM tracks, the ones that I really like are the Battle Frontier theme, Frontier Brain battle theme, and the Battle Pyramid's summit theme.

I think my favourite overworld tracks from the Battle Frontier would be the themes for the Battle Pike and Pyramid. Both of them suit those facilities very well imo. It's hard to explain why exactly, it's just that when I heard each of those themes for the first time I thought, "this music fits this place perfectly".
