it's because he would be impossible to search if there wasn't that tag next to his name. just searching "N &" would bring up every character whose name ends with N. :c

Basically this. If your search params were " N ", yes you'd get a bulk of the results, but then would miss where he's in a moresome and listed with a comma (which is a separate possible search).

So yeah, without that tag, you'd have to searchfind:
" N "
" N,"
...just to find everything. And I don't particularly want to change "N (BW)" to "Natural". Because srsly, you wouldn't know that's his name as a casual gamer.

So virtually, I don't like single letter names to not have something accompanying them for 100% search returns (N not being the only one, because Hunter J).

Nope. He doesn't differ from game!N in the slightest, so he's not up for any sort of differentiation between 'verses. (And even those who are don't get exercised that much).
