Nope - the 3rd generation had awful music...

I really think the music was incredible, by the way, getting a little off-topic, which generation you consider it has the best music?

I don't miss the 3rd Gen. a lot, since I can play it everyday, and yes, a remake could be a good idea.

I have Ruby and Colluseum functioning and ready.

But yes; the clean sprites and interface (More than can be said for FRLG), the geographic diversity on a map that's half water, the music going in another direction, the incredible feeling of realzing that the first and third gen Pokemon are on two different sides of the asthetic spectrum and yet the fit together perfectly? Yeah, good stuff.

Don't know if I want a remake, though, great to introduce new players, but so far their representations have been less than perfect.

I really miss playing Emerald since I bought it on November 2005.
But because Diamond/Pearl came along, then there's competition...especially on the important changes in Game Mechanics such as the Physical-Special split, and Aesthetic changes like the Day & Night feature from the Crystal version.
Then Platinum came along, and HG/SS after a year.

I like to play the 3rd Gen again, but because it lacks the physical-special split, and other features introduced in the 4th Gen, it will be a bit tedious/boring to play it again...
That's why I'm wishing Nintendo will do a remake for RSE, after they'll finish the Black/White (I like to see how the Gym Leaders will "animate" LOL, and to experience the game in 3D)
And probably they will do a Wifi event for Deoxys (what was that island again where you "talk" to that triangle thingy before encountering Deoxys??), an Eon Ticket for Lati@s, and also that Mew event they had years ago.

(BTW, Nintendo probably have already forgotten that Hall Of Origin Arceus event)

Emerald was pretty sweet. I would like for there to be a remake of Emerald. It would cover RS also.

Sorry for feeding the topic straying, but I prefer the 1st generation's music

Somehow, the battle music and environment music were a tad cheesy, but had... an impact of a sort.

I'll admit it might be due to sentimental purposes, but that buzz is still there in those old tracks

I don't see why the graphics would hurt your eyes, it isn't like the GBA uses a dot matrix display or anything like that.

I have Emerald. It's decent enough and I really do like the Battle Frontier as it adds considerably more playability after the main storyline plays itself out. I need to get a DS-Lite so I feel more compelled to play it though.

I don't really miss hoenn that much. Considering DPPt expanded on everything Hoenn already brought to the table minus the constant surfing I'm not nostalgic at all.

Just to say it twice, I really missed Hoenn, because the year I bought the Emerald cart is one of the most memorable (I remembered I sold some of my/my family's things in desperation, just to buy that Emerald cart for 2799 pesos [that store was a cheater, because I saw cheaper ones after 1 & 1/2 years, which are also original, for only 1990 pesos])

And of course, I like it to have a remake, probably a year after Black/White, or after a possible remake of Black/White (just like Platinum after D/P).

And here are the things especially reminiscent of 3rd Gen:

1.) Acro/Mach Bike (I missed hopping around the Acro Bike, and the Mach Bike is 2x faster than that in D/P/Pt/HG/SS, IMO)
2.) Gym Leaders and their Gym puzzles (I love stepping and breaking each ice tiles just to get to Juan, and the fully pitch-black gym in Dewford {unlike in Hearthome from Plat, which has little light in it})
3.) Steven (he does appear in HGSS though)
4.) Making/Breaking the record in the cycling road through Mach Bike.
    5.) Trick House
    6.) Collecting soot
7.) The TM Hidden Power, which is cheaper than in D/P/Pt/HG/SS (which cost more because it's only available in casinos, 1000 coins = 20000 yen >> 1000 yen only in Slateport)
    8.) May/Brendan/Wally
9.) Secret wallpaper (although you only get one design, unlike in D/P/Pt/HG/SS which you can get 8, it's more customizable)
    10.) Diving underwater!!!
11.) Team Aqua/Magma, and their convoluted but interesting agendas.
12.) And of course, the Battle Frontier facilities (especially the ones not in Pt/HG/SS, although I slightly hate Battle Palace), and the Betting Guy.
    13.) Not to mention Deoxys...

I really miss Hoenn too. I was first really getting into pokemon back when R/S were released. That really was a great year, I think. I remember, I bought Sapphire and my friend got Ruby. She could not catch Groudon for the life of her, so I had to help her. xD I'm so partial to the Hoenn games because they pretty much defined my childhood. (Along with other things, of course.) Now, no matter what game I play, I always end up missing/thinking about Hoenn. I hope...no, PRAY that they do a remake with the new engine. That would be epic.

Why miss em, i mean you can play them on your GBA/SP/DS, so i dont miss them, but if what your trying to say is that they should make a game, then yes, i do....
I bet if the 5th gen where the first gen, and the first gen where this one, everyone would say it became kiddy and suckish, just tired of hearing those stupid negative comments!~GKJG September 13th 2010.

What I miss about the games personally is the thrill. Saphire was the FUNNEST game I have ever played. Mainly because I missed out on the 3rd gen for the first two years. I had been reluctant to buy it because my GBA had broken left and right buttons. And I didn't know if they were necessary or not. I had been playing the second generation for 5 years and it was getting boring. Also I didn't like the idea that some of my favorite pokes would be missing (but this was remedied by frlg) I will never forget when I first chose mudkip five years ago. Plus I didn't know anything about the game which made it even more of a blast. But pokemon saphire will always have a special place in my heart.

Alpha Sapphire --> Arceus is the Alpha pokemon --> Arceus is a generation 4 pokemon --> Sinnoh confirmed!!

(Yeah, get used to it now, because this is what you're going to have to put up with for the next 5-7 years)

There is an Armaldo fossil in one of the museums in B/W a possible clue perhaps?

^Steven going back to the Hoenn League in HGSS is also a clue my friend..

    *playing Emerald right now*

Good times :3 The original Battle Frontier is my FAVORITE place in Pokemon(or at least it is currently, next to Phenac city).

Although, I kinda have mixed feelings about an R/S remake. I mean I wouldnt mind one at all, I just think that having every region remade every couple of years is a bit dull..But since the GB slot is slowly leaving us, an R/S remake would be nice in a couple of years =D

I'm not itching for a remake--I think B/W will keep us busy enough, not to mention it's inevitable sequel. However, if a sequel does come I would be one of the first in line to buy it.

I really feel that R/S/E came before their time, and if it wasn't for the whole "You can't trade over your Lv. 100 Lugia from G/S/C" it would have been received must more positively than it did.

Until the now with Isshu we haven't had a region that was as diverse and just active as Hoenn, specifically Emerald. While Hoenn did have a lot of water it wasn't just empty space like in most other regions. You had the abandoned ship, the various islands, ocean floor, etc. But on top of that the land area of Hoenn was still far superior I think than Sinnoh, Kanto, or Johto (almost a 1/3 of Johto can be completely ignored after you past the forest before there is never a reason to travel back there again).

A lot of people made fun of the Hoenn Pokemon, but with the release of Gen V pokemon I think most of those objections have been muted.

Had Hoenn come out in Gen IV with updated graphics and etc I think most people would have applauded it as being quite amazing. And if it does come out as a remake in Gen V, I think most people will recognize it for what it was. Especially since you can basically get about three or four Lugia's legally at this point.

Ruby was my first game, and Gen 3 will always have a special place in my heart. It was better than D/P in terms of new mini games like the trick house and the mach bike race.

But I don't see what you hate about DP. You said night and day was a good thing, the 3D was absolutely stellar (for its time) and admit it, if they made a new gen without making any new pokemon, you wouldn't buy it. You love the new pokes, so stuff it.

Sure, everyone uses their starter and Staraptor, but in Gen 1, everyone used their starter and Pidgeot, and in Gen 3, everyone used their starter and Swellow. There is a forest full of grass and bug pokes in the early part of every pokemon game so far (Viridian Forest, Ilex Forest, Petalburg Woods, Eterna forest), and unless you picked the fire starter (yes, the twisted firestarter) then a flying poke is just too much to pass up. Few use lucario in game, as he starts as an egg you recieve in IRON MOUNTAIN, which is far beyond the point where you want to start raising a lvl 1 pokemon from the ground up. Plus, Riolu needs love to evolve, something that I'm not sure is imparted by EXP share.

And what is this you say about few competitve pokes from 4th gen? You already know Infernape and Empoleon are up there, and you've citied that 'those unnecessary evos' tend to be high up in the OU ranks, (Gliscor, Electivire, Mamoswine, Weavile, Magnezone, Roserade,Togekiss), so they obviously weren't unnecessary. Can you honestly imagine a metagame where Gligar, Electabuzz, Paloswine, Sneasel, Magneton, Roselia, and Togetic were top OU threats?

But others include the #1 lead Azelf, a beast who can't be OHKO'd by any unboosted physical hit Hippowdon, one of the best trick room and dual screen users Bronzong (note his high bulk and singular weakness), a monster with perfect coverage (Fireblast, Earth Power, Dragon Pulse), great typing, and 130 base Sp.Att Heatran, Lucario who needs no explanation, Rotom's forms, and Scizor, who is a Gen 2 pokemon, but was nothing before Gen 4.

Admit it, Gen 4 is amazing. You miss everything else because Gen 4 is current. But don't worry. You miss Gen 3, but Nintendo is undoubtedly making a revamp after B/W's third game comes out. By the end of gen 6, you'll miss DP, but you'll have the inevitable remake to look foreward to.

I do kind of miss it, since Saphire was the first Pokemon game I actually liked. There should be R/S/E remakes, but I know there won't be.

I got Ruby when I was 11 or 12 and I was so enthralled with the plot that when I bought Emerald, I played it all the way through, not just for the need to beat the game, but the joy of playing it. RSE ftw. REMAKES PLZ!! =D Unlike other people who bash RSE over this, I really can't stand D and P.

I love Pokemon as much as the next guy, but seriously; they're just a bunch of 1's and 0's mes amies. No need to get so defensive like they really exist.

Sapphire was the first pokemon game I ever played, so I do miss it. However, this problem can be solved by turning on the power to a game boy advance.
