You could invest your coins into the Casino to make them grow and teach him a TM or save up some candies and teach him an EM/MT at the Move Tutor. I remember when I first caught my Abra (my first capture, fond memories ^-^) I taught him MT Rock Tomb so I had a move for him to use and I still had him in a zone shortly afterwards.

EDIT: You do have to check the drop off days for shops, for the MT is Mondays only so you an't drop your Abra off until this coming Monday

Thank you for editing that last part. I was just attempting to drop Abra off at the MT. I thought somethings had to be on certain days put I must of missed it for the MT, apologies. I'll just wait til next Monday and I'll teach him Fire Punch.

I have two adventures in Serebii and one in UPNetwork... Plus no Pokémon suited to an Ice-type region. So, I'll be skipping on Glacier Islands too for now!

Your Pokémon don't necessarily need to be suited to a zone in order for you to travel in it. In fact, a type disadvantage can sometimes prove more interesting.

The thing about FB and RPing as opposed to the games and other battle-only type Pokémon forums, is that your adventures aren't only about whether or not your Pokémon can fight. Adventuring is a big part of RPing in FB, so if your Pokémon can't battle for some reason we'll make sure you don't need to.

Not that I'm trying to convince you to enter the zone, I'm just pointing this out so you don't mistakenly think you're unable to enter a zone when you can.

If I were an updator, I'd have that updatee put up against every Water/Ground type there is ever AND knock out that Cyndaquil. What will you do?

And that folks is why I'd make a horrible, HORRIBLE updator.
