RPG Ideas and Wishes

I think the various fighting styles of China and other closer countries would work, but I would think it unlikely that any European country would have influenced Japan enough to have it adopt the more Western fighting styles. I expect that most weapons will be from Japanese origin, and perhaps a few from other oriental roots as well. Plus, I'd like to keep this more Japan-centered.

Just to be clear: the RPG does take place in "Japan", but it is a much more mythical, monster-oriented Japan. Pretty much all of the locations will either be made up, or modified from a Japanese myth.

Keep in mind that weapons are not necessarily crucial to fighting. Many martial arts focus on using one's own body for defense and attacking. And not everyone will be a human either, so a character that is a Kitsune (for instance) may not necessarily wield a sword or staff. He/she may rely on various magic or empty-handed fighting-styles.

But in theory, English, Spanish, German, and several other styles, even if not influenced, could be made possible if someone came in from out of Japan, like an English man who happens to be a boxer.

Also, I'm guessing the "closer countries" are these: China, Thailand, India, Russia, both Koreas, and a few others.

I also note that weapons are not crucial (the only fighting style I listed that uses a weapon is Spanish Fencing), and I wonder how many signups you will get that aren't human.

Right, right. I'll probably give everyone the option of having two characters...just to broaden the amount of races...because having all humans just wouldn't be as fun. But anyway, I'll think about it some more, and hopefully work out all the bugs.

I...don't know what you're talking about, to be honest. I've never seen or read Shaman King in my life...and I used a Kitsune as an example, because it is one of the most well-known creatures of Japanese myth. So, yeah...

Anyway, I'll post again once I've gotten everything straightened out...and then I'll let you guys point out the flaws again. It's the Circle of Life.

anyway, i am thinking about doing a manga crossover RP. like almost any manga at all. just not stuff like death not. even digimon are allowd, as well as Naruto, Pokemon, Dragonball, Reborn, So on. even girl manga are okay. as long as they can do SOMETHING.

It's only really similar in the sense that two digimon/trainer/insert-theme/here RP's are. Seeing as we weren't told anything of the plot, we can't really judge its similarities.

On which note, lxdarknessxl, there's little we can comment on the idea unless you expand further.

It wasn't just shonen manga. If you read the rules, you'll find out the characters can be from any anime or manga, regardless of genre or type. However, despite your huge bump in the thread, the RP was posted months ago and left for dead to pursue other projects. I could re-launch it (with a few edits I made), but I have at least 1 other project to release to everyone before I go back to it.

Unless |xdarknessx| is making a plot about a bunch of tankubon books getting torn up and scribbled on by some guy's kid sister, causing major catastrophic events in the worlds... then yes, it would be more original. Even more so if he only allows shonen manga.

Given the fact that it is any Shonen manga as well as any Shojo character that can do something even remotely combative... I would guess that it is more like a manga variant of the Smash Bros games or RaZorLeAf's now-dead SMASH! RP.

Also, there is a portal that is keep sucking in characters, making it even worse. The reason is because the portal brings clones of characters as well, which are slightly more powerful than the characters themselves. so, they must find eachother, find the machines that created the portals, and defeat all Heartless, (from Kingdom Hearts) Peteysaur, (Mario Galaxy) Crimson Balrogs, (Maplestory) Oni, (Shaman King) Team Rocket, (pokemon) or etc on the way. in otherwords, ALL EVIL MINIONS FROM THOSE GAMES WILL ALSO BE CLONED!

I just thought I would point out that most anime/manga is made in Japan, so your point doesn't hold much water...

What about parodies of the originals (ie. Raruto by Jesuslink)? Do they count as well?

Well, it doesn't technically have a wiki- at least, an english one. The original is in spanish, and as such, has a spanish wiki. Anyways, we'll talk more once you finish it, eh?
