Here's an idea not too dissimilar to the Eevee concept-a Kung fu Pokemon that starts as fighting, and evolves into one of the five animal styles. Not sure what types, but evolution is dependent on what stat their nature boosts. Another idea is a three-stage monkey Buddha that's also based on "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil." It'll be Psychic with an ability making it immune to Dark type attacks, since Dark is considered the "evil" type
Aviklaus, the Gift Pokemon
Evolves from-Delibird when traded holding an item
Ability-Same as Delibird
Name origin-Aviary and Claus, but Claus with a K
Stats-Overall superior to Delibird, Aviklaus has its best stats in physical attack and HP. While not too defensive, it's high speed makes up for it.
Moves-Delibird is a healer for your team. It knows physical Ice moves like Ice Punch. Curiously, it knows Extremespeed
Basis-Aviklaus is a bigger, fatter Delibird with a sterner look, big beard, ice skates and reindeer-esque antlers. It's speed comes from the fact that Santa is fast and can travel across the world in one night

"The user severs one of its appendages, drastically raising its evasion, but reducing its Defense and Sp. Def stats."

"The user scares the foe, reducing its Speed stat as well as reducing its evasion."
"The user salutes the foe, reducing its Defense stat. On the next turn, the user strikes with all its might."

"Acid is spit at the opponent. It deals double damage to Steel-types."
"The user injects itself with venom to drastically raise its Speed stat. The user becomes poisoned."
The user generates a heat inside itself that raises it's Special Defense, Defense and Speed
The user slams the opponent full force with a rush of water, this may confuse the target
The user ignites the ground the opponent stands in, this may drastically increase the targets speed however
The user sends Thorns flying at the opponent that hits both/all opponents and may poison opponent
The user rolls at full force picking up stones along the way, the user will be hit by recoil
The user stomps on the ground this may cause recoil
The user sends a huge bubble that will hit all opponents on the field, this may sharply lower speed
When Zoroark was announced on the Japanese sight, I was banking on it being named Zoloark when it hit English.
I still think Zoloark sounds much cooler, and rolls off the tongue better.

Special Pokemon to get in Magma Ruby/Ocean SapphireMirage Island-A mysterious island that's almost as hard to get as before, but its thankfully easier. It is renewed every hour, and the chances of finding it randomly are one in 8192(the same as a shiny). A random number generater goes from zero to 8191. Every hour, you may call the guy in Pacifidlog Town. He will let you enter a number, and tell you if you're lucky. Similar to the lottery, you get consolation prizes-the better the estimate, the better the berry. Chances can increase: if you have a Pokemon of a nature pertaining to defense or special defense, the number generator is halved. If its a Calm nature, its quatered. Its also quatered if you already have a Liechi berry. Beating the Elite 4 results in halving, and filling the Hoenn Pokedex(minus Pokemon #000 and Pokemon #301-302) quaters it even further. Should you have all these, you can have a maximum of 1/64. On the Island there are Wynauts from Lv 5 to Lv 50, with a special shiny Wobbufett guarding the Liechi Berry at Lv 60. Beat/catch and get the Liechi berry, and Pokemon #000 is released. The Mirage Radar(with the old guy talking to you) is used to note the chances, Mirage Island appearing or not, fun trivia asked about rare Pokemon only found in one area(though you have to visit), and finally to locate the mysterious Pokemon #000.
Hidden Ability gifts-Certain trainers, after you beat them, will give you a Lv 5 first-stage of said trainers' main Pokemon. They are:
Roxanne's Sand Force Nosepass, Brawly's Sheer Force Makuhita, Wattson's Minus Electrike, Flannery's Shell Armor Torkoal, Norman's Quick Feet Zigzagoon, Winona's Cloud Nine Swablu, Tate and Liza's Magic Bounce Natu, Wallace's Adaptability Feebas, Sidney's Justified Absol, Phoebe's Prankster Sableye, Glacia's Oblivios Spheal, Drake's Sheer Force Bagon, Steven's Weak Armor Skarmory
Special starters-As mentioned, you can actually catch the three starters of Kanto. After beating the Elite 4, sightings report a mysterious Charmeleon wandering the area. It is Lv 50, catchable(WTF), and with Solar Power. Venusaur and Squirtle have already been mentioned. Once completing the Hoenn Pokedex(with the exception of event legendaries). Depending on the version, you can either pick one of the Johto starters or one of the Sinnoh starters(they do not have their Hidden Ability), given by Professor Birch.
Legendary encounters(main game)-Groudon and Kyogre are found in their respective versions(Lv 45), but to get Rayquaza(Lv 75) you must have both versions. Both are located in the Cave of Origins, filled with either sapphires(Groudon) or rubies(Kyogre) The Sky Tower can be visited prior to the Elite 4, but the Pokemon are still in the level 50s to 60s, so its not advised
With the Regis(Lv 40), I've already described that it involves meeting Brandon. While you must beat him to get the Regis, they will come back after being beaten after a day. Brandon will also help you find their leader Regigigas when you have the three, but its filled with Fighting types and almost as strong as the Sky Tower, with a Lv 70 Regigigas. The Regi chambers, while only having the legendary as the Pokemon, are quite more artistic. Registeel's lair has metal slabs for the walls and a machine sigil where it slumbers. Regirock's lair is an orante cave with stalactites around and stalagmites were Regirock is embedded. Regice's lair is a slippery, frozen region with a glacier containing Regice. All three are buried, and require a ritual to wake up. Regigigas is found in the basement of Sealed Chamber, which you need the Regis to access
With Latias/Latios, they're actually accessed when beating the last gym leader. At Lv 40, it is a roamer. The other is the same South Island event
Then there's mysterious Pokemon number 0. Uniquely, its not only a Pokemon that isn't normally Hoenn, but a Pokemon that you didn't think to find without an event-Mew. 'Course, so much effort to get to Mirage Island makes it worth it. Mew likes to go around the region, though it won't run away from you. The Mirage Radar tells you where to find Pokemon 0, but doesn't tell you what it is. You go into the grass, water or cave, trying to find what it is, and BOOM suprise Mew! When you capture Mew, you get another surprise-the region where Mew was captured will now a wandering Eccentric Ditto there once a day
Legendary encounters(after-game)-If you have Pokemon Magma Ruby, you can try and get the bird trio, and in Pokemon you can try and get the beast trio. Mercifully, they don't roam. You only get Articuno/Raikou at first though. To get Zapdos/Entei requires capturing the previous, and to get Moltres/Suicune you must share keys with the alternate version. All are Lv 60. Articuno is located in the Shoal Cave, Raikou is located in New Mauville, Zapdos and Entei are roamers, Moltres is located at Mt Chimney and Suicune is located in Sootopolis
Lugia and Ho-oh-When the trios are obtained, trade them to other version. Both are Lv 70, and require the trio they master. In Sapphire, the bird trio will unlock Lugia in a deep underwater tornado system, and Ho-oh on a ruined tower

I'd give at least dream world abilities to my favorite evolution of pokemon
New abilities via DW
-User cannot hold any items
Increases power, lowers accuracy
Raises Attack when another stat is lowered
Slaking is one of my Favorite pokemon and I can't even use him for online battling because of Traunt D: Honestly I'd be happy with anything as a new ability so long as it wasn't slow start or traunt...

Spoiler:- Sprites I've created:
Vigoroth - The ability you're looking for is Hustle. If you really do mean Huge Power, though, I guess that'd be alright, too.
Slaking - Truant is on Slaking for a very good reason, and that's to keep it from becoming too powerful. One of the ways to deal with an un-Truanted Slaking would be to lower its other stats to cripple its bulk. For Slaking to have an Attack increase after its Defense is sharply lowered is much too good for its foe. I can see where you're coming from with the idea, though.
Ability - Chamber Guard: Increases Defense stat, until wielder unleashes a damaging attack. Thus, status moves do not affect the ability.
Example Pokémon: Cofagrigus, Cloyster
Move - Bouy Mine
Water-type equivalent to similar moves such Spikes or Stealth Rock.
Floating debris is cast out, detonating on impact. Damages an opponent once switched in.
Lick - capable of hitting Normal-type Pokémon for neutral damage.
Bonemerang- capable of hitting Flying-type Pokémon for neutral damage.
Black-2 FC: 1034 - 9555 - 8683
White FC: 5243 - 6137 - 1070
I'd just change Game Freak's formula for starters so that they're actually good for OU or Ubers gameplay with the standard Blaze/Torrent/Overgrow abilities. Or, if they don't feel like making awesome move pools and base stats for the starter pokemon, they could always start you off with better abilities.
Signature movesFrost Storm, Volt Storm and Flame Storm
Known by-Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres respectively
Types-If you can't figure that out for yourself, I'm sorry for you
Learn by-Level up with Lugia in your party(Lugia teaches them the move, as it is the master of storms)
Effects-Frost Storm, Volt Storm and Flame Storm are much like weather effects, but with an added bonus. Every turn for the next five turns, all Pokemon are hit with 30 base power gale of Ice, Electric or Fire, depending purely by the implementer's special stat and not counting STAB, item, ect. Pokemon weaknesses and strengths are applied into the calculation
Heal Volt, Heal Flare and Heal Torrent
Known by-Raikou, Entei and Suicune respectively
Types-Electric, Fire and Water respectively
Learn by-Level up with Ho-oh in your party
Effects-When using this move, it acts as a simultaneous Recover and boosts all your stats by one.
Known by-Regirock, Registeel and Regice
Learn by-Lv 50
Effects-For five turns, all members of your team are healed instead of wounded by a move of the type of the Pokemon that used this move
Ocean Burst, Land Burst and Air Burst
Known by-Kyogre, Groudon and Rayquaza respectively
Types-Water, Ground and Flying respectively
Learn by-Lv 80
Type-Special(Ocean and Air Burst), Physical(Land Burst)
Effects-The user unleashes a devestating power. The user faints out of exhausting as a result
Mind Boost, Mind Blast and Mind Scramble
Known by-Mesprit, Azelf and Uxie respectively
Learn by-Lv 60
Range-User(Mind Boost), Opponent(Mind Blast) and Mind Scramble(Opponents)
Effects-Drastically increases a stat the user's nature favours(Mind Boost), Drastically decreases a stat the user's nature favours(Mind Blast), prevents the user from using more than one move in a row until called back(Mind Scramble)
Form change-If Cresselia falls asleep or has entered the Dream World
Ability-Sweet Dreams(the user and allies are slowly healed if asleep)
(not sure what to name this forme)
Pokemon-Regirock, Registeel, Regice and Regigigas
Form change-Happens when all four are in all party(can be turned off by returning them to box)
Apperance-Regirock, Registeel and Regice gain a more slender form. Regigigas, on the other hand, becomes a limbless obelisk-like figure with three floating hands of ice, steel and rock
Ability-Ore Fuel(Regirock, Registeel and Regice. Think Ore Rebuild as an ability) or Ore Master(Regigigas. As long as this Pokemon has been on the field, Ice, Steel and Rock Pokemon have their abilities boosted)
Type-Rock/Fighting(Regirock), Ice/Fighting(Regice), Steel/Fighting(Registeel). Depending on which Regi was your first party member, Regigigas will be Normal/Fighting(if it was in front), Normal/Rock, Normal/Ice or Normal/Steel
Origin Forme(other than Giratina)
Pokemon-Dialga and Palkia
Form change-Happens if Arceus is in the party
Apperance-Palkia's legs retract and its wings expand brilliantly like a butterfly, and it gets new arms instead of legs. Dialga looks like clockwork
Ability-Narrow Space(Palkia's ability. It acts as a No Guard that only affects your opponents), Quicktime(Dialga's ability. It halves the time it takes for charging moves)
Events for legendariesYoung Birds and Beasts
How to obtain-Dream World(if Lugia or Ho-oh is obtained already-Lugia for the birds, and Ho-oh for the beasts)
Level obtained-Eggs given out(think Manaphy and Pokemon Snap)
Ability-Dream World Ability

Not type, but themes. Then you could have a challenging match as you wouldn't be able to pick up a type that is in advantage to his/her whole team to sweep it easily.
For example, Leader Doug (from "dog") uses Pokemon based on animals from Canidae familly. Then, this team could be this:
Another example. Leader Sarah (from "Saara Desert") uses Pokemon that are found in desert areas:
And applying a theme that isn't based on type would still be a standard, similar to gym leaders' team that always keep the same type as theme. Post your opinion about this suggestion.
That's actually not a bad idea, but it's highly unlikely to happen. It'd be good for a fanfic though. Or a ROM. I'd love a lizard-themed gym with leader Lizzie, featuring a Sceptile as her signature pokemon.
It might be interesting as part of a post-game content, such as the Medal system or a rule in one of the Battle Frontier facility. But as a gym I would say it's unlikely unless there's a large variety of Pokemon to keep the typing consistent across the entire team. I don't think being handed out a Canine Badge makes much sense compared to a type related badge.

theme related then i think more about halloween and other holliday related things. then type still can matter like for halloween the leader can use ghost types and so on
Interesting idea. But I think it'd make a better internet sensation than game theme, mainly because fans would get mad if you change the formula after 17 years.

† I am a Christian and proud of it!†
I agree. The PKMN they specialized with could be their theme in a post-game rematch. It might be interesting as part of a post-game content, such as the Medal system or a rule in one of the Battle Frontier facility
In Black 2, for example, Marlon could have a Jellyfish team. Jellicent, Tentacruel, Octorok (sorta...)
Fans aren't mad that the style is now 3D and is on the 3DS though it wasn't for a while. They aren't mad that there are no more sprites (or so it seems). Why would they be angry about this?Interesting idea. But I think it'd make a better internet sensation than game theme, mainly because fans would get mad if you change the formula after 17 years.
It would be cooler if they were based on strategies. Things like evasion, protect stalling, stat boosts, double/triple battles, ect. This would promote people thinking outside the box to beat them (getting moves that never miss, feint, follow me, ect). Elite four could be the four different weather effects.
I think this would be a really fun idea.
Or maybe color based, but they try to have a balanced team in that color?
So you fight the red gym and it has all pokemon with the color red on them, and so on.
Which would be more like the Halloween idea said above, just different category.
Having it after you beat the E4 would be nice.
Welcome to the new age.

Visit Me and Chapter of Charizards gaming blog. Fans are always appreciated and welcomed. Feel free to comment!
I don't mind the idea, and it's never really been all type after all (Blaine's Rhydon, anyone?). I never played Emerald (was happy with Sapphire) so I missed out on the whole Battle Frontier thing, but from what I understand of it it might be a better fit than pre-league Gyms.
I've often thought that there should be more than 8 Gyms in a region, you just need any 8 badges to qualify (the way it apparently works in the anime). You could keep the 8 type-based Gyms as tradition and add some of these theme Gyms in the formerly empty cities. By making them optional the conservatives will have less to complain about.
It's not a bad idea, but I feel that if this happened, it wouldn't be the same as the Pokemon we have now. Gym's have been dedicated to types since the very first gym 16 years ago.
Within my lifetime, I've done a lot of walking. I started my journey walking on a little path called Route 1. Little did I know that walking down that route would lead me onwards to a road that went by the name of Victory. Just west of Victory Road, I walked up an entire mountain where atop stood a silent trainer who was one of the mightiest I had ever faced. I've walked, through sandstorms, across the hard desert of Hoenn. I've walked through pelting hail, across the snow covered terrains of Sinnoh. And now as I look back on all my travels I find myself walking across the Skyarrow Bridge of Unova. It took a lot of walking through tall grass patches to get where I am today...But it was worth the walk.
I think a good compromise would be if the themes they picked were tied to specific elements, like environmental themes. For instance, you could have a factory theme that uses Fire, Electric, Poison, and Steel types. That way, you'd get the same variety, but some sense of predictability.
