Create / Rename / Change Anything And Everything!!!

Ok, so I was rewatching Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back last night and aside from it making me shed manly tears once more in some parts, it got me thinking.

Am I the only one who would love to have Game Freak release Mewtwo's Clones as capturable Pokémon in their next game? They'd all stand out individually from standard Pokémon by having the markings seen in the movie (Those who aren't marked could be marked in a similar fashion). Even better, if it affected all 149 original Pokémon (Mew and Mewtwo shouldn't have this for obvious reasons). Anyone else agree?

Releasing the 'clones' 14~15 years after the movie debut, in a Generation which will probably have no relation to Kanto, seems very pointless to me. Unless they are planning to remake Kanto again and make a new movie about Mewtwo, what is a very very unlikely possibility.

There's only room for one pointless recolor in the game. If they don't give clones some significant difference, they shouldn't bother.

I completely agree. But if for some reason they did introduce an alternate shiny form (which is actually a very popular idea), I simply wouldn't care for it.

I guess it would be interesting. Actually, it would be far more interesting than the "usual" events they normally hand out (except for the shiny ones). And I'm saying this despite the fact that I highly dislike the first movie considering it the essence of all that's ever gona wrong in the pokmn anime*shot*

But anyway, it's not like they can suddenly decide to do it, just like that. They can't make up new sprites to add in an already-existing game, but they will have to be already in the coding of the game. The same way that Reshiram, Zekrom and Victini's shiny sprites weren't legitimally obtainable in B/W, but still could be made available through events or trades.

Wich means, if it will ever happen, it's not going to be before gen 6. Also, we'd know about it as soon as such a game comes out, for we'll be able to see all the sprites of the game before we'll obtain them (you know, just like we knew all the shiny forms of the new pokemon as soon as the games were released in japan).

Well, if it game as part of the 6th Gen, like all past gens, you'd be able to get all Pokémon in your current gen. No need to return to Kanto. I can get a perfectly legit Squirtle in my Black, but it's not part of the generation and it's not set in Kanto. Yet I can still get it. So, that part of the argument holds no value, we don't need to return to Kanto to see it.

Plus, with the release of Black 2 and White 2, you can catch N's old Pokémon which are variants of shinies. Why can it not be possible to add some markings to existing sprites.

Sure, as someone said, why have one when you can have a normal Pikachu, but the same can be said about why would I want a shiny Pikachu when I can have a normal one? That point is also invalid. If it's rare, people will want it.

Regardless, this is just my opinion, and I'm glad for all your feedback so far, it's really nice to hear about your thoughts.

N's Pokemon are different from this, they're not recolors, and they actually do have something different about them then normal Pokemon (they have near perfect IVs across the board, 30 for each stat IIRC).

Alternate entrance themes does not mean the equivalent of shiny Pokemon. They still maintain normal coloration.

EDIT: No, I didn't misread it. Serebii clearly states they shine, akin to Shiny Pokémon. In a sense, they ARE different.

this idea is interesting.. the clones looked somewhat different if i recall... like the awesome Charizard with stripes on it.. (correct me if i'm wrong on any of this) i don't think they would.. but having those as an alternate shiny form would be pretty cool ^.^

They have a different entry animation, that is true, but they're not recolors. Either way, I have no complaints with N's Pokemon, because they actually have something else different about them. Shinies and clones do not.
