Yea it wasnt even the whole episodes... sometimes i dont know what thos Japanese producers are thinking.
I was also expecting them to kiss at the very least since it seemed like a really big deal that Misty was leaving, but she and Ash didn't have an extremely emotional goodbye like I wanted them to. Oh well. No use crying over spilled milk I guess. I should probably be grateful that Misty at least showed up again in AG. That at least showed that the writers cared about her somewhat.
Gotta Catch Ya Later was still the best companion goodbye episode. Very emotional.
And Misty got that sweet montage and gave a handkerchief and she did give that key line, "Well Ash now I know how you feel about me" as if to say she understands that he really does have feelings for her and one day he'll realize it.
Well, every girl had a cameo themselves. Ash did seem sad, but he probably wasn't totally sad because he thought Misty would come back. When she was upset at the pokemon center, Ash said "It'll only be until your sisters come back" Which just gave me hopeI thin that the godbay sceen was just one huge pokeshipping sceen becous:I was also expecting them to kiss at the very least since it seemed like a really big deal that Misty was leaving, but she and Ash didn't have an extremely emotional goodbye like I wanted them to. Oh well. No use crying over spilled milk I guess. I should probably be grateful that Misty at least showed up again in AG. That at least showed that the writers cared about her somewhat.
1. Ashe did try and admite something to misty but than changed his mind and just said your bike is there
2.he when he was talking he wold say thank you Misty ... wait a few seconds and only than say and brock or when thay gave him the gifts he said misty... brock
3.he didnt crie until misty (and brock) were gone like he was acting all tough so misty wouldent see him crie
4.the whole episode i had a feeling that the writers only focused one misty and ashe and not at all on brock
And also wheil all the othar pokemon girls appeared in only the folowing season misty has appeared in every season in some way ,she appeared in flasbacks and got mentioned in black and wight ,mentioned in DP and so on .wheil may just got a appearenc in DP and didnt appear or get mentioned anymore(i am not counting the last flasback becous everyone appeared in that one and am not counting the lets hold hands finaly)
Overall, I'm pretty sure there would be more pokeshipping if Misty stayed in AG considering how that was the last region where Ash's character grew a lot and IMO was the best source of development. He probably would start realizing the connection he had with Misty by then...like I said, I'm pretty sure Ash has feelings for Misty but hasn't come to realize it, and Misty has feelings for Ash but is either too shy too admit or to afraid to be rejected. We'll never know because of how the writers left it has a big cliff hanger..
She could definitely benefit from stay in Hoenn having several unique pokemon like Mudkip, Hyuntail, Gorebyss, Peliper etc with dual characteristics which she would want to catch and diversify her team. There were water specialists like Juan and Wallace from which she could benefit and learn new things as trainer honing skills. Villains like Team Aqua and Team Magma which wanted to eradicate water typrs from earth and use them for malefic purposes, which was perfect plot to have Misty play starring role causing fury and breakdown in her wanting to stop them at any cost.
Hoenn was plentiful with oceans, rivers, islands providing setting for writers to expand on Misty dreams expanding on what they introduced with Whirl Cup creating new water based tournaments through whichg she could advance her goal and make name for herself among other water experts in world. Requiring to develop more complex battle style and how to adapt to unfamiliar situations(like underwater battling, racing, mix of dry land and water).
Ash could be standing by her side and supporting her to overcome issues and grow forward for a change, in return of all that unselfish motivations and encouragement Misty put in him succeeding as trainer.
Even 9th movie screamed water everywhere dealing with prince of sea Manaphy for which Misty would be overjoyed to meet and learn its secrets. While trying out contests to see how would she manage herself in such events(i imagine she would be nervous and embarassed in things like dressing up or appeal rounds throwing tantrum if things copped out lol) and learn about new combinations of techniques coordinators use helping her in future battles.
I also liked Misty interactions with Ash and others in Hoenn a lot. Reflecting how much their relationship and friendship evolved since early days. Being outgoing and teasing over Ash reckless behavior and his trainer skills. Irked over his attitude and Brock shameless chasing after girls coming up with sassy remarks(that ear pull from Sarah was classic).Or her usual pranks and quirky behavior she radiated with.
As well showing lot of care and happiness in seeing Ash and others again being worried for his safety when he set himself infront of Hanson to protect her and save when being put in airship by TR. Causing admiration and astonishment through her tough, feisty demanor leaviong Ash surprised the most during badass moments like use of Gyarados.
Interactions in surprise visit during Pallet reunion were pretty great too revealing how strong friendship and mutual support between Misty and Ash didn't wane of one bit despite long separation.
Pokemon anime truly lost lot of charisma and charm with Misty departure being mistake to get rid of such fluid and full of potential character like Misty was. As result she ended with unfinished story(like her dream of beciming master, become renowned water expert reaching strength of E4 members, overcome her own flaws and issues in becoming more collected and open in expressing feelings like its case with sisters and obviously Ash not being sure where she stands). Being replaced when there was much more left to be done, not being given chance to get used to full potential.
She worked best with Ash because of managing to ignite reactions from his side with her snark and strong willingness which often led to clash and comic scenes, motivate him and push to go forward not fooling around and making sure that he dont humiliate himself when glory hits him in head. But Ash himself too managing to cause conflict from Misty side awakening that caring and tender traits putting lot of dedication and effort in helping people she cares about, spuring her brash, stubborn nature and competitive spark when getting on her nerves with his stupidity and audacious behavior. Having healthy and filled with spice rivalry at times going between them and lot of witty remarks and jokes coming from her, annoyance and gratitude to be in her friends company being one which often holded main word in group. That can be noticeable during her cameos in Hoenn as well managing to add extra life to cast and bring more emotion, tension and comedy around.
Even her last cameo Real Cleffa Hanger left so many things unanswered revealing how there still exist unfinished business with sisters when Misty shared with Max how she feels about them and frustration of not having anyone to rely and leave gym in his hands when she leaves, her future plans and way in which story and path will unfold. Along with dreams and desires of mastering water type and learn as much as she can, ambitions and desires open with no closure present.
Nevertheless whole relationship with Ash and how she feels herself about whole thing. Coming to resolution of where she stands with feelings directed toward him.

This is the sad part. Aside from Mistys story being left unsaid, Misty and Ash's story was left unfinished too. But wasn't her last appearance in that movie? The 10th anniversary? Anyways, even that movie was definitely left untold. They didn't have a departure either. It just went like a real cliff hanger, as the episode stated haha.
Also, it's pretty sad how Misty left right before the region where it was her time to shine. She may had been in more episodes than the other "Pokčgirls" but unfortunately she didn't have the amount of spotlight like them. Yeah, she had the whirl cup, and a few episodes about her....but in comparison she didn't have enough episodes focused on her unlike May, Dawn etc had many episodes focusing on them.
Anyways, her and Ash could have also been another step closer to a relationship because I would have most likely agree he grew a lot in Hoenn, and he wouldn't be all that oblivious to love (unfortunately they dumbed Ash down in BW) I would say he could understand and put the pieces that Misty likes him during that arc and actually find out or try to see if he could have feeling so I wouldn't say Ash has a barrier over love because that isn't true. For example, there's Giselle, who he showed COMPLETE infatuation for, then there's times whenever someone would mention a "pretty girl" Ash would be alert for it (and make a snide comment about Misty)
As much as Ash had great interaction with other of his friends, like May (especially in bicker and the better...funny episode) I would have to say his interaction with Misty was pure, funny, unique, and interesting. They fought like a married couple, they acted like your old school bickering friends who do it constantly who are MADE FOR EACH OTHER. So, I don't know when Misty will see Ash, or if she ever will...but I'll always have hope for it and look forward to that day, and I have no doubts for them to end up together.
