The following are the rules of #SPP, break any of these rules and you can be kicked, or banned, without additional warning
    1) Do not use excessive capitalization.
    2) Do not swear, do not talk about inappropriate topics.
    3) Do not repeat yourself.
    4) Do not flood or spam.
    5) Do not pointlessly insult, flame, or troll.
    6) Do not advertise.
    7) Do not access beg.
    8) Do not argue with any op about any of the rules.
    9) No racism of any kind.
    10) Do not ask about or discuss illegal content.
    11) Do not ask for, discuss how to use, or request assistance with any hacking device, hacking program, hacking aid, or game glitch.
    12) Do not roleplay or otherwise abuse the action command [/me].
    13) Do not search for a relationship, this is not a dating chatroom.
    14) Do not impersonate other chatmembers or use nicknames extremely similar to other chatmembers.
    15) Do not evade a ban.
    16) Do not run scripts in the channel.
    17) Do not ask for personal details in the chatroom.
    18) Do not abuse bold underline or any other text modifier.
    19) Do not fish for attention.
    20) Do not beg for an unban or whine about your ban from #SPP-WiFi.
    21) Do not ask for battles, trades, rescues, or matches in any video game.
    22) Do not PM the OPs unless it is about the chatroom.
    23) Do not boss around other members of the chatroom.
    24) Do not speak in a language other than English.
    25) Do not connect more than once to the chatroom with a single internet connection.

Explanations and Examples about the Rules of the General Chatroom

    1) Do not use excessive capitalization. Online this is essentially considered the same as yelling, you don’t scream your sentences at people in real life, don’t do it in here either.
    Examples:
“Where did you guys get PKRS?” – Perfectly okay, thats how the game shows it.
“I can’t BELIEVE that I ran out of pokeballs trying to catch shiny giratina!” – Also fine, just a bit for emphasis
“HEY GUYS I LOVE POKEMON!” – Not alright, way too many caps
“I CAN’T BELIEVE I DID THATcapscapscapscaps.” – Not acceptable, just because you’re trying to lower the percentage of capitals in your sentence doesn’t make it any better.

    2) Do not swear, do not talk about inappropriate topics. This includes self-censoring your own typing or the server censoring you. Do not talk about your sex life, murder, or anything else not appropriate for someone aged 10 to hear about.
    Examples:
    “Man <censored> that <censored>!” – Not Acceptable
    “Man f*** that s***!” – Not Acceptable.

    3) Do not repeat yourself. Saying the same thing over and over again is annoying and doesn’t get you anywhere. Once or twice is fine, repeating the same thing 3 or more times is excessive.

    4) Do not flood or spam. Flooding is where you type many lines of text out rapidly.
    Example:
    “11:48:01 – <PapaGeorge> Hi
    11:48:01 – <PapaGeorge> I
    11:48:02 – <PapaGeorge> Want
    11:48:02 – <PapaGeorge> Pie”
Doing something like that over the course of a few seconds is not only annoying but keeps people from being able to read everyone else’s text.
    Spamming is spouting absolute nonsense.
    Example:
"asfgsdgertgsggsdf" - Typing stuff like that will get you booted.

    5) Do not pointlessly insult, flame, or troll. There seems to have been some ignoring of this rule in the past, so let me clarify. Attacking other users is unacceptable, this is the internet, people yell at each other that is true, but Serebii is supposed to be a place where people can enjoy a peaceful time. If someone is doing something wrong let an op know and they’ll deal with it.
    Examples:
“<SPPGuest0123> Hey what do EVs do?
<JerkOfAUser> What are you retarded? Learn to read!”
This is in no way acceptable within our chatroom. Direct the user to the EV mechanics page if you want them to learn through reading, remind them about the Google Search feature in the upper right corner of the site, take the time to explain it to them in the chat or in PM, but do NOT pointlessly insult them.
“<SPPGuest0123> Looking to trade kyogre for a zapdos
    <DontBeLikeThisUser> Wrong chat moron”
Once again this isn’t the proper way to talk to a guest, maybe they clicked on the wrong link by accident, or maybe they aren’t aware of the other chatroom. The best option in this case is to LET THE OPPERATORS direct them to the other chatroom, not insult them. If you do feel the need to correct them let them know to click the “WiFi Chat” link or direct them to http://www.serebii.net/chat-wifi.shtml
    “<ConsoleFan> I love the Console!
<NotAConsoleFan> Console sucks and anyone who has one wasted their money and should die.”
This is an example of flaming, I think it’s clear by now that this isn’t acceptable. You are welcome to have differences of opinion, what you’re not welcome to do is express them in such a derogatory manner. You can deliver the same opinion by saying “I don’t think the Console is worth the money for the number of games I would want to play on it.”
Trolling is where you come in to do nothing but upset other users and draw reactions from them. Don't do it, go read a book instead.
I know this is the internet, and sometimes people take jokes as insults, as such this rule tends to be rather "soft" as opposed to an instant ban. If you are warned by an operator to stop hurling insults, cease doing so immediately.

    6) Do not advertise. This should be pretty simple. Do not post website links to, or try to recruit for, any other website, clan, league, tournament, political organization, religious organization, chatroom, photo, or video. This means no youtube, this means no photobucket, this means no #clanchannel, this means no google.com, no pokemon.com, no nothing. www.serebii.net and www.serebiiforums.com and any pages or threads from them are the ONLY websites. #SPP and #SPP-WiFi are the ONLY chatrooms.
We run scripts to kick people for advertising sometimes they misfire, here are some tips to avoid getting accidentally banned.
“#1”, “#2”, or “#3” ect – this will get you kicked by the scripts, they think that you’re trying to advertise a chat channel called 1, 2, or 3. Just say the number, it saves you a keystroke anyways.
“…community” “...communism” “…network” - See the issue here? The Automated scripts see the .com and .net and will kick you.
If you do get accidentally kicked PM an op and we will remedy the situation, if you cannot contact one via “/query operatorname” be patient! You will be automatically unbanned for an accidental banning in 5 minutes.

    7) Do not access beg. Don’t know what access is? See the little + % @ & and ~ signs next to the name of some people in the chatroom? That denotes a user with access. Asking for any one of the various access levels is against the rules, and is the most surefire way to make sure you NEVER will get access. Don’t ask HOW to get it either, when you’re ready for it in our minds we will give it to you, not one instant sooner. For more info on what the various symbols mean see the access list at the end of the rules.

    8) Do not argue with any op about any of the rules. Operators are the authority in the chatrooms, their interpretations of the rules are the correct ones not yours. They are in the position for a reason, if they punish you there is a reason they did so. If you have an issue, bring it up with another operator or post in http://www.serebiiforums.com/showthread.php?t=396796. Do NOT simply sit there and whine, cuss, or argue with the operator who banned you in PM, all this will earn you is a longer ban. It is a privilege to be in the chatroom, not a right.

    9) No racism of any kind. This should be self-explanatory. If you think it MIGHT be considered racist then don’t say it. Don’t gay-bash or religion-bash either

    10) Do not ask about or discuss illegal content. “ROM” versions of games, pirated games, pirated movies, pirated music, illegal drugs, illegal firearms, stolen merchandise ect. If it’s illegal, don’t talk about it or promote it.

    11) Do not ask for, discuss how to use, or request assistance with any hacking device, hacking program, hacking aid, or game glitch. This includes, but is not limited to: Action Replay, Game Shark, Pokesav, R/S/E/FR/LG glitches, D/P/PT glitches, or cloning glitches. If you don’t like this rule too bad, it is the stance of serebii.net to not endorse cheating of any kind in video games.

    12) Do not roleplay or otherwise abuse the action command (/me). This means using /me or any other means to try to enact out some sort of scene or event. Role-playing gets out of hand so quickly we have banned it from the chatroom.
    Examples:
“* Chatmember rolls his eyes.” – This is okay every so often.
“* Roleplayer tosses out his pokeball yelling “I choose you Venutoise!” - This is not acceptable.

    13) Do not search for a relationship, this is not a dating chatroom. Don’t look for girls, don’t look for guys, don’t look for a relationship here. It ALWAYS ends poorly, and furthermore it can get you banned.

    14) Do not impersonate other chatmembers, or use nicknames extremely similar to other chatmembers.
This includes both ops and regular members. Not only is it against the chatroom rules, it is against the server rules. Trying to claim you are a different member can get you banned PERMANENTELY from both chatrooms (or the server) on the first offense if deemed necessary. This includes using similar names that another member has, such as using the nickname Serebiii.

    15) Do not evade a ban. If you have been banned wait it out. If you feel you have been banned unfairly please post in http://www.serebiiforums.com/showthread.php?t=396796 or contact the operator who banned, or a different operator using “/query operatorname”.

    16) Do not run scripts in the channel. Don’t run cafes, don’t post stats, don’t automatically say “gotta catch ‘em all” when someone says “pokemon”. There are two exceptions for this, welcome messages to Serebii that are automatic from SPP-Script or approved by the chatroom operators, and “Now Playing” scripts, but ONLY if they are used in moderation. If an OP asks you to turn off a "Now Playing" script or asks you to remove an automatic greeting do so immediately.

    17) Do not ask for personal details in the chatroom. Age, gender, location, telephone number, none of that should be asked for in the chatroom. If you want to exchange AIM/MSN info do so in a private message using “/query username” not in the chatroom itself.

    18) Do not abuse bold underline or any other text modifier. Same rules apply as for capital letters.

    19) Do not fish for attention. Have a severe medical problem, relationship issue, or suicidal thoughts? A pokemon chatroom isn’t the place to express all that. Find a friend in real life, talk to parents, talk to a counselor, or a psychiatrist. Don’t discuss any of it in the chatroom, it’s not our business.

    20) Do not beg for an unban or whine about your ban from #SPP-WiFi. If you feel you were unfairly banned in the other chatroom please contact an operator using "/query operatorname" or please post in http://serebiiforums.com/showthread.php?t=396796.

    21) Do not ask for battles, trades, rescues, or matches in any video game. Such requests spam up the chatroom and make it harder for others to chat normally. We have a chatroom dedicated entirely for all your pokemon related wifi needs. As far as other video games go this is not a game-matching site so don't ask for brawls or anything else within the chatroom. If you cannot seem to find the WiFi-Chat please click on the following link, it will take you there http://www.serebii.net/chat-wifi.shtml

    22) Do not PM the OPs unless it is about the chatroom. Operators tend to be busy people, they volunteer their time to try to make the chatrooms enjoyable places to come. Operators are not, however, a one stop pokemon advice center. They are not a mobile FAQ here to cater to your every needs, or a source of endless free pokemon to hand out. Unless you have an issue reguarding the chatroom itself do not PM an OP for any reason unless they have given you permission to. Usually a warning will be given if you break this rule, but not always, if you PM an OP with a non-chat issue you are breaking the rules and can be banned for it.

    23) Do not boss around other members of the chatroom. You are not an operator, you cannot tell other chatmembers how to behave. Doing something simple such as directing someone trying to battle or trade to #SPP-WiFi (the battle and trade chat) is perfectly acceptable. However it is NOT your place to tell someone to stop doing something, that is the place of the Operators. If there is an issue, contact an Operator using "/query operatorname". This applies to VOps as well, you are not HOps or AOps do not act like one.
What you CAN do: Make them aware that they are breaking the rule, or ask them nicely to stop.
What you CANNOT do: Order them to stop or tell them how to act.

    24) Do not speak in a language other than English. This may be an international chatroom but the only language to be used is English. This is for a very simple reason, we don't have the staff to operate the chatroom in other languages. Please keep all conversions in English only.

    25) Do not connect more than once to the chatroom with a single internet connection. Unfortunately, there are people who attempt to sabotage chatrooms. An often used tactic of these type of people, as well as scammers, is to log into a chatroom multiple times on the same connection. This is often called "cloning", due to the fact that each of your connections are exact copies of each other. For this reason we have been forced to limit the number of times you can connect to our chatrooms to one per internet connection. A single internet connection is normally shared by an entire household, so two different people on different computers in the same house will share the same internet connection. If you have a family member, room-mate, or friend who is using the same internet connection as you and would like to log onto our chatrooms at the same time as you, please contact an operator using "/query operatorname" to get special permission so that you do not get banned mistakenly

    QOP(~) (+q)
The founder and owner of the channel, aka Serebii. He has the power to do anything related to the chatroom.

    SOPs(&) (+a)
SOPs are the highest authority of OP. They can kick and ban other ops, even go as far as to perminantely ban users from the chatroom.

    AOPs(@) (+o)
AOPs are the second highest authority. They can kick and ban other AOps and HOps. If you have a problem with a HOp talk to one of these people.

    HOPs(%) (+h)
HOPs, sometimes called helpop or halfop. They can kick and ban VOps and normal users. You will see these the most often in the chatroom, be sure to listen to what they say.

    VOPs(+) (Permanent +v)
VOPs, or voiced, do not have the authority to kick or ban. They tend to be long-term chatroom members or be respected by the OP staff.
Since they have been around longer they tend to know the rules better than normal users.

Post Important Information for Appealing a Ban

Where to Find Important Information to Help Operators if you Need to Appeal a Ban.

When you are kicked from the chatroom while on the JavaClient you will see a screen that looks like the following:
Several pieces of information on this screen have been boxed in various colors to show you where to locate the information.

Chatroom Name - This is the nickname that you had when you were on the channel.
Chatroom - The chatroom you were on when you were banned.
Operator in Question - This is the person who kicked you from the chatroom.
Kick Message - This generally describes why you were kicked and often includes:
Ban Length - The approximate amount of time you will be banned, a message saying Undetermined can be anywhere from 5 minutes to 24 hours.
Time - This was the time you were kicked from the chatroom.

Before you do anything else take a ScreenShot of this information by pressing CTRL + PRTSC on your KeyBoard. This will save a copy of the screen onto your computer's clipboard. You can then see this image by pasting it into any image editing program (such as MSPaint).

Before you appeal your ban please refresh your webpage [F5] to see if you were only kicked and not banned. If you return to the chatroom this means you were only kicked and do not need to appeal your ban.

If you instead receive a message

This means you have been banned. If you believe you were banned in error or you feel you have been banned unfairly please contact the operator who banned, or a different operator using “/query operatorname” or post in http://www.serebiiforums.com/showthread.php?t=396796.

Use the information from your print screen to assist the operators in investigating your appeal. If your appeal is rejected please accept the decision gracefully and wait for your ban to expire. Having a positive attitude will often get you unbanned faster than normal; while having a .negative attitude is likely to increase the length of your ban, often to a day or longer.

If you would like a list of operators in order to PM them please view the post above for a list of operators for #SPP.
