I like chikorita, he's my fave second gen. starter...
glad ash owns it after all
I really enjoyed this episode. Chikorita is my favorite Johto starter and I was extremely when Ash got it. I liked how Ash made sure that Chikorita didn't belong to anybody before he captured it. When Charizard stuck his foot out to stop Chikorita was hilarious. It got even better when Chikorita ended up beating Charizard. Although, when Ash took care of the Chikorita during the snow storm, it was very heart-warming. And did anyone else notice that Meowth was driving the van? I wonder how he could reach the pedals.![]()
I <3 May.
I do not do competitive battling and I really do not have any desire to. I also do not go out of my way seeking for shinies because I never really understood why they were so great anyways. All I truely enjoy pokemon contests, breeding, and in-game battling.
I think grass pokemon are the greatest ever and I take great pride in the ones I have raised. I also think that Chikorita is the most adorable pokemon ever!
If you would like to know me send me a message. I'm not shy(:
This episode was good, I'm glad that Ash caught Chikorita here. Though seeing Chikorita in a snowy area was rare in my opinion.
Chikorita was cute, it was very stubborn.
It almost even beat Ash's Charizard. i loved also how Ash was connected to it.

Man, Izumi Shimura seemed to be feeling lazy this week. There are a ton of wide shots and flashbacks in this episode, and they probably saved a bunch on animation costs. Which is just as well, 'cause just about every character is off-model at least once in this episode. That's the ugliest Lizardon I've seen in a while.
Still, this episode does have something going for it. Satoshi being forced to survive in the mountains without the aid of his Pokémon is an interesting twist for the story, and it makes for a very nice second act. (Incidentally, this is the second episode in a row where the story picked up substantially after the commercial break.) I like these episodes that involve snow; it's very good for creating melancholy atmospherics. Lots of grays and muted blues help add to the dramatic nature of Act II. The scene where Satoshi and Pikachu are stoking the fire in the cave, and Satoshi decides to go out and search for Chikorita alone, that's very effectively done. You really feel like this is a weighty decision for him. After everything he goes through to rescue Chikorita, no wonder she got attached to him.
This is also the second episode in a row to feature no characters-of-the-day. And again, I don't think this episode needed any. It's another "let's see what a character would do in this situation" episode, and this time, we see what lengths Satoshi will go to in order to secure a Pokémon's safety, even if it's a wild one. That shows you what a commendable character he is. He also gets the comedic highlight of the episode to himself - his spoof of the Rocket-dan motto. I lol'd when Nyasu chimes in at the end with "Nyaante na!" as usual, and Musashi clocks him upside the head.
I feel better about this capture episode than I did about the Heracross one. Mostly because I know that Chikorita is the only Jouto Pokémon on Satoshi's team who'll have anything resembling a character arc.

I never really liked Chikorita in general; they're all so vain and stubborn. However by the time I watched this episode, I found some respect for the species. This episode was ok in general. At least Chikorita got some character development unlike Cyndaquil and Totodile got in their debuts. This one took place somewhere cold, that was a nice twist since Johto usually has average temperature. An ok episode, 6/10.

Chikorita is hands down one of the most adorable Pokemon that Ash has ever captured in the Anime. I love this pokemon for a lot of reasons and the most imortant one is that it gets jealous of Pikachu and almost always wants to hug Ash. One of the best pokemon to ever appear in the Anime. I really liked the episode becasue it set up the story for Chikorita down the line.
Chikorita is one of the pokemon who needs the love from his trainer. Ash got it by thr end of the episode, save it- and won to get it. He really deserves it, if not by fight, so by becoming friends.
Ash always does it like that, and I think it's a great way. No need to defeat every pokemon.![]()
Great episode! second catch for Ash!Chikorita was so stubborn, wow at that battle with Charizard!
It was nice to see Ash saving the day by himself and his interaction with Pika & Chiko!!! 10/10

Ash was really smart in this episode for some reason. I was surpised on how long he was able to last by himself. But yes, Chikorita was the perfect Pokemon for him.
Elekid's watching you!
I didn't like this episode very much. The Charizard vs Chikorita fight was slightly entertaining but the rest of the episode was just pretty bland.
Gotta love how his newly caught Chikorita oneshotted his trained for two seasons.
I had really forgotten how strong it was, though Ash's pathetic tactics vs Falkner's Hoot-hoot was just sad.
I liked this episode. It was great to see Ash catch a female Chikorita that really liked him. The way he took care of her in this episode was really cool, another snow episode. The Chikorita/Charizard battle was very funny.
47/100
Ash' Chikorita/Bayleef is my favourite character in the anime, great episode! Also cool to see how she defeated Charizard! And Chikorita running to Ash and kissing him at the end is so cute! 10/10!
I was never really interested in the idea of having Chikorita show so much affection for Ash. To be honest, Chikorita is my least favorite Johto starter only because I found Cyndaquil and Totodile to be far more interesting than her which is saying something since those two didn't have the most interesting of personalities either.

Ash's Chikorita is definitely a tough one, it surprised both Bulbasaur and Charizard in it's fights with them probably hurting their pride too. I like how Charizard stopped Chikorita by just putting it's foot on Chikorita's head, I gotta laugh out of that. Also, nice to see Ash actually check to see if that Chikorita actually belonged to someone before he tried to capture it.

It's Quagsire!
That was one strong Chikorita. Not only beating the Bulbasaur but also a Charizard! I liked how Team Rocket were so persistent to get Chikorita on their side. Ash's version of their motto was also funny! I wasn't too crazy about Ash getting Chikorita as a Pokemon. Reason being that if I remember correctly, Casey is seen in quite a few future episodes too, and I think they should have just let the grass starter be her thing! It would also be nice to see Ash catch a Pokémon without having to go through some emotional story with it first.
