I'm surprised I've never written my thoughts on this episode...

I cried SO violently when I first saw the rock heading toward Bulbasaur. I was terrified it was the end.

But really, this was the best possible farewell episode for the best Pokemon Ash has ever owned. His oldest partner besides Pikachu, I think there was a reason he lasted so far into Johto. Ash was genuinely crestfallen at the prospect of leaving Bulbasaur at Oak's. I think there was a lot of love there that wasn't there for many of his later Pokemon in the same intensity.

This episode is basically a love letter to Bulbasaur, and I adore it.
I am not worried, Harry. I am with you.

Adiós Bulbasaur, you should have been used much more in Johto!

I never knew that grass Pokemon could be a bunch or spoiled stubborn weeds. It was sad having Bulbasaur to stay there just to control the Pokemon that Professor Oak is supposed to be taken care of. Suppose Bulbasaur wasn't there, then what would he had done?

I'm going to miss the Pokémon that Ash got the longest in his party - excluding Pikachu. Bulbasaur had to inevitably go and make place for other new Pokémon, but in a way, perhaps this was maybe right if you look at what happened in this episode and how Bulbasaur is really being a good ambassador/leader in the conflict and resolving it. Fortunately, we at least were able to see a little more of him later on and that made it at least for me, acceptable that he left.

Bulbasaur was pretty good as a peacekeeper on the Oak Ranch. It was kind of sad to not have it as a part of Ash's party anymore but it was for the best.

A very nice episode focusing on Bulbasaur, It was sad to see it go because I didn't want it to. Bulbasaur had to inevitably go and make place for other new Pokémon I suppose. I thought it might have actually died since there was a moment where things got really dramatic. It's one of my favorite of Ash's Pokemon and I hated to see it go.

It's nice that they raised the suspense when the rock fell. They made it seem as if Bulbasaur had died. But, when Ash had to let it go, he seemed closer to Bulbasaur than to Squirtle. He seemed rather happy letting Squirtle go, but with Bulbasaur, he didn't want to do it. And if I remember correctly, he said in the episode where Chikorita gets jealous he loves/treats his Pokemon all the same.
