Actually i didnt liked this episode that much.In my opinion it was completely unneeded for bulbasaur to leave but i do admit that this episode had quality and it was focused in great way on bulbasaur. When that rock falled on him i thought for a moment that this is the end for him but i was pleasantly surprised to see that he was ok and used dig to save himself.

    To simply put,bulbasaur is awesome.

I was glad Bulbasaur finally left. There was no point of him being there with Bayleef and all.

I thought this was a great episode. I love how they mentioned Bulbasaur's past when it protected injured Pokemon. I thought it was sad when the boulder fell. I thought it was the end for Bulbasaur for good. It surprised me that it was able to learn Dig however. I guess in a life or death situation it did what was neccessary. I am going to miss Bulbasaur. I personally thought it was Ash's strongest Pokemon, besides Charizard. I am glad though that Ash, Misty, and Brock were able to get a ride to just outside of Ecruteak. I don't know if I could have managed to see another fifty or so episodes just to get there.

I do not do competitive battling and I really do not have any desire to. I also do not go out of my way seeking for shinies because I never really understood why they were so great anyways. All I truely enjoy pokemon contests, breeding, and in-game battling.

I think grass pokemon are the greatest ever and I take great pride in the ones I have raised. I also think that Chikorita is the most adorable pokemon ever!

Ah, I rememeber when I first saw this episode on its first UK airing and had no idea of the outcome due to not being familiar with spoilers back then. To say that Bulbasaur's near death experience shocked me is an understatement lol. The way that the screen froze on Bulbasaur and then turned black and white while you heard the boulder's impact made me almost shed a tear. I believe I did do so when the flashback and touching music played. It's definitely one of the most emotionally-charged scenes in the history of the Pokemon anime.

Other than that, i've always been able to see why the writers ultimately Oak'd ole Bulbasaur, although I wonder why it took them longer to phase it out than it did Charizard and Squirtle. In fact, it's a wonder how all three of them travelled with Ash to Johto but it's understandable as the writers clearly hadn't grasped the concept of giving Ash a fresh start in each region at the time.

I haven't seen the full episode in years though, so I can only remember the premise of the episode vaguely.

It was a sad episode, but i loved it.
Bulbasaur was great, it really a friend with all the pokemon.
And i also loved how it saved an Odish.

Bulbasaur saves the day yet again, though it almost died in the process! It started off great, with Bulbasaur helping out at Oak's lab but then the whole building another pool thing almost got Bulbasaur killed, which was scary to see. I thought it might have actually died since there was a moment where things got really dramatic. It was too sad for me to enjoy. And I hate that it stayed at Oak's lab. 5/10.

When I watched this episode I thought Bulbasaur was dead too, actually quite alot of TV shows use that effect. I remember the most recent I saw was Flashforward with the character Janis when she was shot, they showed flashbacks (And her flashforward). I always get a bit teary with these kind of episodes no matter the show (Unless it's a really bad episode).

Pity Bulbasaur left but he did have a Grass type, who replaced Bulbasaur after he left? I forgot he did have a spare one throughout the rest of the journey like in Kanto after Butterfree/Haunter/Primeape?

Bulbasaur has always been so kind. And probably because of its personality, it didn't stay with Ash. But I think it was enough, Ash had a Bayleef, so the writers' decision was pretty good.

This episode was ok... It was sad to see that Bulbasaur would no longer be a full-time member of Ash's team. I like Bulbasaur better than Bayleef. It was cool to see Bulbasaur save itself by using Dig, it looked like it was crushed and killed by the boulder at 1st, but I'm glad he was ok.

This episode was alright. Ashame Bulbasaur go to Oak well I guess Ash can not have two grass types. Glad he was not crushed by the boulder.

I agree, Heracross saving Bulbasaur purely for the juice!

Sad to see Bulbasaur go... A really sad episode, making me cry (I rarely cry about TV programs, but I cry quite often when it comes to Pokemon anime), but good to see Bulbasaur survive. I never thought it would die, Pokemon rarely die in the anime (in the games, it's different, with graveyards like the Pokemon Tower and Mt. Pyre).

I'm surprised I've never written my thoughts on this episode...

I cried SO violently when I first saw the rock heading toward Bulbasaur. I was terrified it was the end.

But really, this was the best possible farewell episode for the best Pokemon Ash has ever owned. His oldest partner besides Pikachu, I think there was a reason he lasted so far into Johto. Ash was genuinely crestfallen at the prospect of leaving Bulbasaur at Oak's. I think there was a lot of love there that wasn't there for many of his later Pokemon in the same intensity.

This episode is basically a love letter to Bulbasaur, and I adore it.
I am not worried, Harry. I am with you.

I never knew that grass Pokemon could be a bunch or spoiled stubborn weeds. It was sad having Bulbasaur to stay there just to control the Pokemon that Professor Oak is supposed to be taken care of. Suppose Bulbasaur wasn't there, then what would he had done?

I'm going to miss the Pokémon that Ash got the longest in his party - excluding Pikachu. Bulbasaur had to inevitably go and make place for other new Pokémon, but in a way, perhaps this was maybe right if you look at what happened in this episode and how Bulbasaur is really being a good ambassador/leader in the conflict and resolving it. Fortunately, we at least were able to see a little more of him later on and that made it at least for me, acceptable that he left.

Bulbasaur was pretty good as a peacekeeper on the Oak Ranch. It was kind of sad to not have it as a part of Ash's party anymore but it was for the best.

A very nice episode focusing on Bulbasaur, It was sad to see it go because I didn't want it to. Bulbasaur had to inevitably go and make place for other new Pokémon I suppose. I thought it might have actually died since there was a moment where things got really dramatic. It's one of my favorite of Ash's Pokemon and I hated to see it go.

It's nice that they raised the suspense when the rock fell. They made it seem as if Bulbasaur had died. But, when Ash had to let it go, he seemed closer to Bulbasaur than to Squirtle. He seemed rather happy letting Squirtle go, but with Bulbasaur, he didn't want to do it. And if I remember correctly, he said in the episode where Chikorita gets jealous he loves/treats his Pokemon all the same.

I cried when I thought that Bulbasaur was dead, it is such a sad episode but I am glad that he lived. I think the episode carried a powerful message

It is a shame that Bulbasaur won't be on Ash's team for a while now but I'm surprised that he didn't bring one of his other Pokemon over to spend time with and bond with.

Man, it was shocking when the boulder fell on Bulbasaur, I thought he died.....but thankfully he learned Dig and saved himself.
Overall this was a sad episode, Bulbasaur had to leave Ash for keeping peace between the Pokémon at Oak's ranch, he's the only Kanto starter who stayed with Ash for that long ....... but at least he's still Ash's Pokémon.

Good episode since Bulbasaur is my favorite pokemon of ash's but sad that his journey in the group ended. Always look forward to seeing ol' Bulbasaur when ever they visit pallet town and hope to see it again shortly and or at least get the opportunity to battle again like it did in the battle frontier where it showed that it was one of ash's best.

Hoping bulbasaur teaches the rest of ashes pokemon to become leaders so he can take a break to battle in tourneys with out the fear of mass destruction at the lab.
