Note: I am restarting this club at the request of IcyDragon0605, who ran the original club and had it closed because he was no longer able to keep it update. I apologize for taking so long to restart it--my life has been rather busy and my health was of higher priority than video games.

Without further ado, allow me to introduce

The Super Smash Bros. Brawl Club!

This is the place to be for discussion [and/or bragging] about your latest achievements, talk about your favorite characters, and pretty much anything else you can think of regarding this amazing Wii fighter. Welcome to the club for the Nintendo-lover's ultimate game.

We will also hold occasional tournaments, and plan to keep track of our club's top players.


Rules

1. We follow the universal SPPF rules. This means things such as spamming, flaming, trolling, double-posting, advertising, swearing, etc. If you haven't read them, please do so.
2. If you change your username, please inform me (AerialAce!). I'd like to keep the list as up-to-date as possible.
3. Please use spoiler tags when revealing information to highly anticipated games, especially when it is requested by another member.
4. Avoid "one-liner" posts. It's nice to see actual discussion rather than meaningless chatter. It's still nice to be friendly, though. After all, #9 is the most important rule. (#5 is a close second.)
5. When Joining please use the provided form, posted below the rules.
   • Failure to use the form, which serves as proof that you read the rules, will result in a 24-hour ban from the club. You may request to join again after that period. This is the most heavily enforced of our rules.
6. dnt talk lik this. i wil h8 u 4evr. Seriously, talking like you're in a text message conversation is annoying and stupid. You're in no rush to post.
7. Rules are enforced using the baseball-inspired strike system.
   • You're given a strike each time you break the rules.
   • Three strikes will result in a ban from the club (temporary if the offenses were minor, permanent for major rule-breakers).
   • Having two strikes will keep you from participating in club events.
   • Strikes can be removed by participating actively (and without breaking rules) for two weeks.
8. DON'T ASK FOR LEADERSHIP POSITIONS. I, AerialAce!, can chose people on my own, thank you very much.

I think it has something to do with the facts that my Wii was one of ther earlier Wiis made and that Brawl is a dual layer disc.

Easy fix. Go to a game store and buy a Wii lens cleaning disc. It'll clean any dust/smoke/whatever off the lens and enable it to read dual-layered discs again. About $10 USD.

First you need to get your Wii online, using a wireless router or LAN adapter. After getting everything set up you can go to the Wi-Fi option on the Brawl menu and go online. In the "With Friends" option you can access your Friend Code roster, which will display your code at the top of the screen.

Is Smash Service just the thing where you automatically download a stage, picture, and replay when you connect to Wi-Fi? Because if so, I'm sort of glad, if anything; it just takes more time to get connected, and then there's no chance of me missing anything awesome, anyway (not that they could put up anything that I'd regret missing, I should think).

Also, AerialAce!, are we going to use that Black Cat ladder thing of yours for sure, then, or are we still talking about it, or what? Just curious.

assassinsceptile has been added, I've fixed Caaz's friend code, and I've added my brother, Zink12321 to the list. He doesn't sign in often, but he's as good as I am and a great doubles partner. Hopefully we'll be able to make some team challenges.

The Black Cat Project of the Nintendo club will be making an appearance (probably later this week) in the Nintendo Wi-Fi forum as a bigger deal, which should open up the opportunity for a smaller, in-house ladder should we chose to start one here.

Alternatively, we can go on a points system, where all members are given a set of points for registering their friend codes, and can challenge others to make or lose points and gain ranks. The problem here is that those who don't play will end up with more points than those that play one match and lose.

I also just realized I got that inspiration from the first season of Yu-Gi-Oh!, which I never actually watched. Apparently the Abridged Series got the basic idea across pretty well. In any case, it's a weird and slightly flawed idea, but one worth mentioning in case anyone can offer a way to improve it.

Alternative methods are open for submission. Anyone with a better idea for setting up a challenge/ranking system among members, feel free to bring it up.

One was to have, like, weekly exhibition matches between two people, and people would bet who would win, or something, but I honestly can't remember what the point of that would be. If someone could come up with one, I guess it might be usable. And the other was to have rankings with each character for everybody in the club, which would probably work with your Black Cat system. Maybe.

I think the Midnight Panthers was an offshoot of the Black Cat project (well I would assume so, since the definitions of the words "Midnight Panther" and "Black Cat" are essentially synonymous).

As for alternate ranking systems, I kind of like the "weekly exhibition match" idea, but real life and conflicting time zones can get in the way of properly judging and executing this idea. Maybe one can get points dependent on how well they do in the match? Like, how many stocks they take off and how much percentage (the latter is kinda iffy) is given? Each person would start out at zero, of course.
