So I was going through the digital TV guide when I stumbled upon the first episode of Fruits Basket, and I was like "Lol anime". Since my choice was between watching a dub (which I hate) and some Australian Jersey shore rip off, I went with the Fruits Basket, it was followed by the first episode of Ouran Highschool Host Club, and surprise surprise! I couldn't get past the first five minutes again.

Can't blame you, that's a poor anime......

brb crying forever

I'm having a really hard time figuring out how I feel about this anime.

I loved every part of it. The art is a huge standout by itself. The style they went with is so different and it looks gorgeous. The music matches it perfectly, I found myself enjoying the soundtrack a lot. The writing is top-notch. There was tons of dialogue but it really made me think. The twists and turns throughout the story were fantastic. The cast of characters were memorable, especially the villains, which can be rare. The structure of the story was an experience in it's own. 12 episodes at double length? It made a HUGE difference. Episodes could undergo more focus. The individual stories could be more fleshed out and there was enough time for everything. Even then the animation quality was fantastic. Every fight was fluid. I could go on day and night singing this show's praises about how amazing it was.

But...

Togame died...

This was probably the biggest downer of an ending I've ever seen. I know, I know she was supposed to die. It finished her character arc, it finished Shichika's etc. It made the story complete and everything was wrapped up in a nice bow. But it still made me feel like ****. I hardly understand it myself. I never let a character death sway my opinion over any series this much. Hell, a large chunk of the lovable cast of Gurren Lagann dies by the end and yet it's my favourite. So why the hell did I feel this bad after Togame's death? And then Shichika ends up with Hitei? It doesn't seem right.
 

Personal feelings aside it was amazing. But **** that ending.


Edit: Okay, I still love it, but it will take me a while to stop being so sad about the ending.

I think the easiest way to fight Haru would be to grab him by the head to stop him from moving (his arms and legs are so stumpy that they wouldn't reach you if you held him at arm's length), then repeatedly kick him in the shins or crotch...

...Hypothetically, of course! Don't go beating up any basketball-shaped kids you might know, everyone!

Taking Haru's height into consideration I think my kicks would be a bit higher than shin height, I think I'd prefer to just slam dunk him throw a basketball hoop... Hypothetically of course.

I found it quite funny but all in all, it brings nothing new to the table which includes its humour. What's there not to get? Someone can love something awful, just look at the guys who watch porn.

The fact that it can make such tired cliches entertaining is the very reason that it's actually good, I think.

I found the new Accel World ending theme pretty interesting. Wonder if we'll see any of this alluded conflict within Kuroyukihime later on in the series? I hope so.

The majority of it aired in the 90s right? I think they meant to say not this decade but the last decade. If you're counting each decade by 1980-1989, 1990-1999, 2000-2009, 2010-2019, then the statement doesn't make sense as "last decade" would refer to 2000-2009 since it's now 2012. I think the way they see decades as is every ten years counting back from now. So 2012-2003, 2002-1993 and so on. Even that only makes partial sense since from my understanding (Wikipedia) Dragon Ball Z lasted from 1989 to 1996 so 1993 and would be approximately halfway during it's run (unless you're counting when it aired in the US). So I think that's how they might be seeing it. I could be wrong of course.

Sword Art Online - 2/? If a first boss was really that powerful it needed 20+ people to fight, then that is one beefed up game. Not to mention it takes a month to just get through 1% of the game.

It could be because everyone could have figured out he was a beta tester for doing something so bold. Then he would have been resented by everyone else so he would rather die with honor trying to save everyone than be resented by everyone he knew and tried to helped.
