Chihayafuru: Because everyone, everyone on this earth should watch it. It concerns a young and ambitious player of a traditional card game called karuta, which revolves around the memorization of poetry. Doesn't sound good to you? No, it never does. To anyone. Then people actually see it and are utterly entranced by the wonderful and varied cast of fleshed-out and always developing characters, the brilliant character designs and animation and some genuinely compelling and intense card games. The more reserved and character-based josei sensibilities definitely give this show an edge over the typical shonen fare you'd expect from this kind of premise. Watch it, you will not regret it.

Humanity has Declined: The standout of the season just finished. In a world where humanity is fading and the new race of the fairies seem destined to replace us, a put-upon UN Mediator tries to keep things from exploding into utter insanity as is typical when fairies are involved. Very funny and relentless creative, this supremely bizarre show is helped along by the charm of its constantly exasperated protagonist and all the weirdos who surround her. And dem fairies. Dem unpredictable, hilarious and occasionally disturbing fairies.

Eden of the East: A young man finds himself standing outside the White House, naked and holding a gun and a mysterious phone, with no memory of who he is or how he got there. Telling you anything beyond that would be a shame since you wouldn't find out for yourself as you watch this saga of twists, tricks and gambits. It's very clever, with a fascinating premise, and raises a lot of very good questions about the state of the world today but doesn't let itself get bogged down with introspective rambling and forget to be fun. And it has an adorable lead couple. Also, if you do dubs, I'd try this one because it's my opinion that Funimation did a brilliant job with it.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Summer Wars: The works of the brilliant anime movie director Mamoru Hosoda. They're both masterfully crafted films with great art direction, characters, concepts, music, and simply oodles of charm. Highly recommended. Also great things to watched dubbed, if you're that way inclined.

sakurasou no pet na kanojo and sword art online. That's about it. Magi looks fun and interesting. The main character is funny to me...but I just don't feel like watching it. Probably the same reason I never felt like watching Hidan no aria. I LOVED the main character's abilities, and in general i thought it was funny duo with those two. But I never made myself watch it...lol I couldn't for some reason.

KyoAni's new anime, airing in January. Which means four straight seasons of KyoAni, which is awesome.

Directed by Yamada Naoko, who also directed a certain moesterpiece.

EDIT: Winter is looking like it's going to do a great job at following what has been an awesome Fall season.
