I'll admit, the series does have an annoying fanbase depending on where you look. The kind that shouts out catchphrases at any opportunity and overuses the word "epic".
From Yahtzee's Portal 2 review: "Nothing ruins a good thing quite like knowing you share your opinions with mindless little tits who laugh like mules is you so much mention the word 'cake'* and the good thing in question can never be the same again. This technically know as 'The Knights Who Say Ni' effect."

Gurren Lagann is a cliche riddled ball of awesome, and kicking logic to the curb, and <insert epic Gurren Lagann quote here>. I dont like it quite as much as CC#06 (I don't really think it's humanly possible to like it as much as him) but it is just a fun show, full of epically cliche moments.
