I frequently found it funny, even though I didn't know enough popular shounen anime to appreciate most of the references, so the parody elements flew right over my head. The characters are quirky in a really charming way. As for the story... well, I don't think you should be watching it for the story. It has some nice short arcs, but many of the episodes are stand-alone and the series jumps around a lot.

The second season cuts back on the parody elements and goes a little deeper into the romance side of things, which were both changes I appreciated. I really loved the second season.

    A Certain Scientific Railgun S - 7/24
    Attack on Titan - 8/25
    Chihayafuru 2 - 21/25
Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet - 8/13
    Hunter x Hunter (2011) - 81/?
    Oreimo Season 2 - 8/16
    Red Data Girl - 8/12
    Space Brothers - 59/?
    The Devil is a Part-Timer! - 9/13
The Severing Crime Edge - 8/13

Getting slightly behind. You'll notice that I watched this week's Chihayafuru 2 before this week's Red Data Girl even though the latter came out first...

    Gintama: 61/201
    JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: 8/26
    Karneval: 9/13
    The Severing Crime Edge: 2/13
    X: 8/25

The Benizakura arc in Gintama (what else would it be in) is already was pretty cool. I certainly like seeing something with a little more of an over-arching story to it, and in general, this was a particularly strong set of episodes. A little different for the series, in some ways, but that's okay too.

As far as The Severing Crime Edge goes... so far, I'm really inclined to write this off as something that is conceptually pretty cool, but not exactly well-executed.

    http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-new...sh-dub-trailer

    Cast:
    Jerry Jewell as Kodaka Hasegawa
    Whitney Rodgers as Yozora Mikazuki
    Jad Saxton as Sena Kashiwazaki
    Alexis Tipton as Rika Shiguma
    Ashleigh Domangue as Yukimura Kusunoki
    Kristi Kang as Maria Takayama
    Alison Victorin as Kobato Hasegawa

Kodaka sounds okay. I can see him having good chemistry with the girls
Yozora doesn't sound very good at all
Sena doesn't sound that great but it's a bit too early to judge since she only has one line in the trailer
    On the fence with Yukimura
Alexis Tipton is dead on as Rikka. I approve of her performance
Maria and Kobato didn't get any lines in the trailer

Sounds a bit hit and miss, but I'll watch it anyway. Hopefully its not as bad as the Strike Witches dub

Just finished Patlabor the movie 2 in the past 5 minutes. I think I preferred the first, though I honestly wasn't paying quite as much attention this time around.

I also saw the first episode of Kampfer the other day, again. I am doubtful I will continue to watch it at this time however.

This Hagani one was no better. Well, the video gamey stuff sort of fits but the pixelized girls and generic RPG text bubbles come off as incredibly cheap. Just make it match the opening's style with the red & blue ribbon everywhere, is that too tough? /rant

Mushishi was an enjoyable series. The only problem I had with it was that it got repetitive. Other than that, I found it pretty good

I was so happy when Fukuda made an appearence in the latest episode of Space Bros. That made my day

And Hunter X Hunter and Attack on Titan are still as strong as ever

Now, I hope Rozen Maiden is good. That'd be nice

    Attack on Titan- 9/25

Wow, this show just continues to blow me away. If past examples are anything to go by, that plot twist should have screwed everything up and set it on the wrong path. But you know what? They pulled it off better than I could have ever hoped to. Actually, I'd say that it's better this way. Sure Eren came back, but the position he's in isn't exactly ideal. The reasons why it happened make perfect sense and were forshadowed well in advance.

Screw waiting for new episodes, I can't take it. I'm going to start reading the manga

The Vision of Escaflowne - 26/26 - COMPLETE

That was beautiful ;_;. Such a sweet ending. Definitely one of my top favorites, I really do wish I've seen it sooner. But the movie is just as good, if only as a story of its own right, so I suppose it was a nice way to get into Escaflowne was through the movie as a teenager. The dub got better overtime, so it was a plus to hear their voices as how they (almost) sounded in the movie by the last episode. The opening theme is very beautiful, though due to its romantic nature, it brings out some memories in me that made me sad |D. Aw well.

For sure one of these days I will get the series for my own future household, what a masterpiece.

Apparently so. I don't see it being that difficult, but I guess I don't think like they do. Reasonable decisions may actually cause legitimate pain to them.

    Wholly agree with you.

I guess I hate myself enough that I'm going to go ahead and watch the Sonic the Hedgehog movie--dubbed. I can't seem to find the six-episode Jojo's Bizarre Adventure OVA, so to kill some time, I'm gonna go ahead and watch some movies, starting with Sonic.

Then I'll look for Akira. Whichever version I find I'll sit through.

Honestly, though, "cool concept, **** execution" seems to be a huge problem with anime in general.

It is very messy and non-sequitur(SP?).

Mirai Nikki, which ppl bitched and moaned about may have had it's messy parts, or overusage of rape and murder, but it more or less had a narrative.

Dansai-Crime-Edge has me wondering what the hell I'm watching EVERY week.

That should not be happening with SUBS.
