I agree with the guy above me, it might just go with what alot of japanese animes usually do, keep the name and add a 2 beside it to not add any confusion and keep popularity for the series, no different then if they where to change the name of bakuman between the seasons, or da capo.

As for hunter x hunter, whats there to be confused about?

Since when is liking shounen frowned upon here? I don't see anyone frowning upon the fact that a number of people here like Hunter x Hunter, and I'm sure I could come up with a lot more shounen that people here wouldn't frown upon anyone liking if I put my mind too it, KamiNomi being another one.

Hunter x Hunter is more a deconstruction than anything. However I see your point but most fans act like Shonen is so beneath them and go on about how their so unoriginal.
