    - Mamoo learns new move. I think it's Hidden Power.

    - Mamoo chasing Pikachu and Pochama was hillarious.

    - Sakaki imagination is back. Funny.

it was an alright episode. Apparently tangrowth must have been using mega drain or something to store energy to use on a dying tree.

Was that attack that mamoswine learned blizzard or icy wind?

I can already tell that next weeks episode is gonna be comical. They showed ash, dawn, and brock trying to get across a spinning log...

As said above, it learned Hidden Power (めざめるパワー) and Tangrowth was using Absorb (すいとる)

I enjoyed the episode too ^^

Seemed like a good episode, I may watch it later today. So Mamoswine learned Hidden Power, eh? Awesome! He needs a new move for his upcoming contest and Hidden Power seems like a good choice.
nothing lasts forever, but this is getting good now.

Hidden Power for Mamoswine? Interesting. I would more have expected Avalanche or Blizzard.

So what is up with Mamoswine? Why did it run from Dawn?

It was going through mood swings lol XD At first it was upset because Pikachu and Piplup were laughing at it so it ran away, then after it was attacked, it wouldn't return because it had a grudge against Tangrowth XD She wanted it to stop and just go back to everyone else, but it must have been a pride thing :P

Darn I was hoping for something other than Hidden Power. That, or at least the showcasing of whatever element Hidden Power would become.

This was the worst episode of Scooby-Doo I've ever seen. All this time, I was in over my head regarding who The Tangrowth really was behind that grotesque costume. The Tangrowth was one of the most tantalizing villains we've ever seen, yet they never even unmasked him by the end of the episode? Rip-off. Fortunately, through the power of mystery-solving, we can deduce who this fiend really was...

We start things off with Mamoswine, who people still wouldn’t believe is obedient if it suddenly charged out of the TV and began smothering you with love. And if you were sick of Ice Beam, then good knows for you, because Mamoswine has Ice Boogers. Now there’s a word you haven’t heard since pre-school. And so our lovely COTD walks up, who I assume is a park ranger. She’s apparently not very good at her job, however, as Dawn has already passed into the forbidden zone. Suddenly, our villain leaps out from the trees.

It’s The Tangrowth! It is here that we must look carefully for identity clues. It shoots fancy lasers and fires Bullet Seed, and enjoys both whipping and zapping with its tentacles. Conclusion? The Tangrowth is Harley. It was only a matter of time until he returned, considering the fandom’s boredom with Zoey and Kenny. But perhaps such a judgment is a hasty one. Whatever. So here we have TR walking when all of a sudden AN ONIX! OMG! WE’VE TOTALLY NEVER SEEN ONE OF THOSE RANDOMLY POP OUT OF THE GROUND BEFORE AND ACT LIKE A TURD! But The Tangrowth zaps it, forcing me to one simple deduction – The Tangrowth is Steelix. Think about it – what is the only obstacle that stands between Steelix and complete screentime domination? Its inferior evolutionary form.

After a hilarious Giovanni fantasy that desperately needed the classic Scooby-Doo laugh track, we get a random Ursaring appearance, who like the random Onix appearance, only exists in this anime to be a prick whenever convenient. Ash and COTD and Random Stranger stumble upon The Tangrowth, attempting a potpourri of pretty attacks that should hopefully coax you into buying their merchandise. We see Mamoswine get ticked off at a few completely insignificant grass Pokemon and stumble upon a Deku-Tree-like-cave where The Tangrowth probably lives. And if you know anything about caves in the Pokemon world, you know this could only lead to one possible identity for our villain – The Tangrowth is a Golbat.

Of course, Golbats aren’t known to really leave their caves. Rather, Golbats tend to be happy not enabling you to walk more than three spaces at a time before they attack you, then get their amusement by not allowing you to run since their Speed is superior, and thus, they get plenty of laughs using Confuse Ray on you repeatedly. Funny stuff. Team Rocket then comes to save the day in their Mystery Machine, now equipped with a vacuum. But they fail, and soon enough, The Tangrowth revives a tree using the life it sucked out of everyone over the course of the episode. This, my friends, leads to our final definitive answer for The Tangrowth’s true identity:

The Tangrowth is Serebii Forums. Sucking the life out of the innocent, then replenishing the feeble aspects of life that nobody truly cares about. Personally, I feel this was a fantastic metaphor and I must tip my hat off to the writers for thinking of it. If it weren’t for this wonderful parallel, this would have been a horribly mediocre episode, but since it was obviously intentional, I now want to hold up a banner while naked on an overpass expressing my deep appreciation for the Pokemon writers, who make my life complete.
Thank you for all the fantastic times, Serebii Forums!

I give this episode a 10/10. It was sweet how Mamoswine had tears at first when its training wasn't going according to plan. Why, when Piplup gave a demonstration to help Mamoswine, Mamoswine looked determined to beat Piplup. I'm really looking forward to some more Dawn and Mamoswine interaction. Dawn really is eager to keep training. Hidden Power looks awesome. Cross fingers for Piplup and Mamoswine to be used in a double battle for the Grand Festival. Love those two, as well as Dawn and the rest of her team. Awesome episode!

I re-watched it in HD, and I really liked the colors lol.

The story was ok, Tangrowth wanted to heal the tree, that is a nice lesson.

But I think the rest was pretty dull.

Maybe I've just had bad hearing for a while, and thus have been oblivious to changes but... Did they use a different instrumental against the lyrics in the opening? It sounded much more orchestrated. Was this already in effect?Note that I usually just skip past the opening.

Yup, it's a remake. I think it's nicer than the previous one =)

Reasonable episode, not bad but not great. Mamoswine learning Hidden Power was unexpected and hopefully they will reveal what type it is. I get a feeling that it will be a staple of the next contest. Tangrowth was pretty cool.

Nice episode, Not the best though, it feels kinda boring after Ash vs. Paul, but I'm not really in a position to complain.

I just have one question...Why is Ambipom still in the opening?

I was wondering if Tangrowth was using Secret Power or Mega Drain to steal the energy of POkemon and give it to itself and then giving it back to the tree?

Also, isn't Sceptile King of the Forest? or Jungle?

    Good episode, none the less

I suppose I'm contractually obligated to post something bullet-pointed about this ep within a week of it airing, aren't I? Internet gimmick slavery is depressing indeed.

-Mamoswine is still stubborn-ish. This somehow reminds me of...some other Pokemon...it used to squabble with Dawn a lot and it'd act all proud and it was kinda hot tempered because of that pride. I wonder what happened to it? It was a pretty interesting pokemon, but I guess advertising got in the way of personality when it came to Dawn's team.
-Remixed op. It's...uh......lazy. It's fucking lazy. The instrumental part is generic as can be, and the vocals are exactly the same as they were in the original version. On the bright side, it's no longer so catchy that watching any ep of Diamond & Pearl will have High Touch! stuck in my head for an hour.
    -'Sup, incredibly generic looking COTD?
-Today's wacky boss fantasy gets an 8/10. It's no "covering Giovanni with honey so that Pokemon swarm all over him", but it's still pretty wacky.
-And the episode ends and good god I've never been less excited about an episode since the Phione thing. At least stuff like Cresselia VS Darkrai and Looker had the lingering promise of maybe being interesting. This...didn't. Why no I didn't skim over most of the ep, especially since I really didn't see anything terribly interesting aside from the boss fantasy & the offensively lazy remix of the opening during that skimming, why do you ask?

    My review of the episode:

After last week's semi-dissapointment (I liked it a bit more with a second watch), I really enjoyed what is probably pretty much a filler episode, though for much different reasons than the Rotom episode.

Opening theme: With the English version getting a decent theme, it's nice to hear a re-mix. Adding in horns, turning up the guitars. Sounds like they took the instrumental version of Together you can hear in the episode previews, cranked up the volume, added horns. Anyways, I liked it. Nice break.

I can't say the same about the ending theme though. There's only so much J-pop I can withstand. It's not BAD. It's just generic. It is better than Hikari's Theme.

Manmoo's character has evolved nicely. Instead of Satoshi's Lizardon all of a sudden change of pace, Manmoo has taken time to developed. First out of control, then just ignoring. Slowly gaining interest. Then obiedent but has no use in Contests.

And using Hidden Power is a nice touch for a contest move, since us game-mechanic nerds like myself don't think of a beast like Manmoo using wussy special attacks.

Mojumbo was great as a COTD. I was kind of hoping for a capture, but Manmoo learning HP is good enough. The ranger kind of sucked/was pointless/barely did anything.

    Now, onto quotes:

    First off, amazing post.

Ironically enough, most episodes can end with "And I would've gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for you meddling kids."

Well, Paul's Torterra used Earth Power in a recent episode.

While that ban may or may not still be in effect, I don't see how it would help Manmoo in a Contest.

Interesting thought. Good for a laugh.

You're free to have your opinion, but you do know a remix is, right? It's not a new version of the song. They just remix it. Emphasize some parts of the music more, de-emphasize others, maybe add in an instrumental track that was originally taken out. It's still the same song, so of course they're going to have the same vocals, run about the same time, etc...

*though I understand the confusion. Remix is often just thrown around as "Title of whatever song version 2" **
