My favourites change every now and then, but the ones I've stuck with for some time are:

    30 Seconds To Mars
    Paramore
    Smashing Pumpkins
    Madonna
    Billy Talent
    Green Day

    Very much into rock/80s pop.

It's hard to declare a "favorite band" because I jump between music depending on my mood. Right now, I've been listening to a lot of Seether, Journey, and Avenged Sevenfold.

I guess if I had to pick a favorite band it would be Shinedown. I love every CD they have put out. If I had to pick a second, it would be Godsmack. It's a shame their fourth CD was terrible.

I recently "acquired" a Sonic Syndicate CD and I enjoy it. I wouldn't call them a "favorite band" but it's one I'm constantly playing.

I don't know how to spell the JPOP groups that I like, so I'm not even going to bother :P

If by some odd reason you decide to IM me, send a PM in advance so I know you aren't some crazy bot tricking me into unsafe porn :3

    4. Genesis (60)
    5. Warren Zevon (22)

One of these days I should just start posting track statistics instead, maybe. Those are always pretty good, too. And god am I glad I got a friend to loan me his Comus album. That record is pretty cool, if ceaselessly ****ed-up.

I don't as such hate them, as much as I think they're overrated. cf. my feelings about 99% of all popular groups.

Also I think I had a playlist of them on while I was asleep or some such.

    Very nice!
I love the Thüringian pagan/black metal scene from central Germany!

Ever heard of Menhir? A lot of members from Odroerir are also active in that band!(and lets not forget XIV Dark Centuries)

Another great band from that particular area of Germany is Gernotshagen, a recommender for people who love strong, epic pagan/black metal!

I have indeed heard of Menhir, I have Hildebrandslied and Ziuwari, both very enjoyable, but not as good as Odroerir. I would go as far as to say I think Odroerir's Götterlieder is the best Folk Metal album ever. And Götterlieder II should be out soon. The only thing that confuses me is that the runes in their logo spell Odrariz, as apose to Odroerir.

And Ive heard of Gernotshagen, I've just never got round to giving them a proper listen.

I think Menhir and Odroerir are of the same caliber. Real quality music from germany, since a lot of "factory" pagan bands come from germany today, which is a shame..

Really, give it a listen. It's worth all the attention it can get!:O I suggest you start with the full-length Märe!

I think there seems to be a lot of bandwagon jumping in the folk/pagan metal scene. There seems far too many bands just content on making a poor black metal song, and then sticking an Ethnic instrument over the top and calling it folk metal.

That's a common process within the black metal scene.. Most of the time the additional/native instruments don't even correspond with the rest of the music, which makes it sound like an incomplete mess.. Although this is, in my opinion, totally not the case with mentioned bands..

I've got some examples of poor pagan black metal.. Bands like WolfChant seem to fit in that catagory..

Yeah i completely agree. I tried Wolfchant once, I had heard a pretty decent song by them, but the rest of the album just sounded like 'filler' tracks.
