So I was doodling last night and came up with a drawing while contemplating the Topsyspot pokemon. Then I realized I didn't like the name anymore . So I came up with another one!

    Unpundun

The reason I chose this name is because it's the same if you read it upside down or right side up. It's going to replace the Topsy Turvy pokemon and now it's basically a floating head with a pair of eyes that look sad rightside up and angry upside down. It has projections of black on either side of its head that could look like ears in either orientation.

Okay, since it is the twenty-fifth, the entry part of contest round 1 is over! Now the judges will review and score the entries; the reviews will be posted here as they get done. Please don't discuss the entries unless you're a judge.

@blue furret: That is a gosh darn clever name. Excellent work. So is the top going to flip itself at random, or at specific interactions? I could see a fun ability with two effects, depending on which orientation Unpundun comes out in battle as.

Lol I'm not sure yet! I'm actually trying to figure out what to do with him. Originally it was a trick room when it came into play but he was extremely fast (base speed of 160 might change to 170) so he'd inevitably be attacking last every time. Then after the trick room wore off he'd be the fastest non speed-boost pokmeon outside of Deoxys (I think. Faster than Ninjask for sure but after a few speed boosts Ninjask would be the faster of the two)

However, thinking about Cherrim and Castform with their strange abilities to change in weather I have been considering some sort of form change. I dunno. I want to make it a useful type but I have no clue what it would be.

I've decided part of the flavor is this:

Flavor: Unpundun, the topsy turvy pokemon. It generates specific vibrations and gravitational force such that any surface it can cling to becomes the "floor". The clever trainer uses Unpundun's gravity trick to walk on walls.

    Originally was this:
    Topsyspot - The Confusion pokemon
    Type - Psychic Ghost
Ability - Trickster - When entering the field, the user messes with the dimensions to make slower pokemon attack first.
Description: Still working on this. The ability is something that I wanted to showcase. It'll be something backwards and forwards and both white and black in the yin-yang theme of the whole pokedex. It's super weak to dark and ghost.
    Stats:
    HP: 55
    Atk: 105
    Defense: 50
    Sp Atk: 55
    Sp Def: 100
    Speed: 140

    So the suggestion is:

    Pokemon Name: Unpundun
    Type: Ghost Psychic
Flavor: Flavor: Unpundun, the topsy turvy pokemon. It generates specific vibrations and gravitational force such that any surface it can cling to becomes the "floor". The clever trainer uses Unpundun's gravity trick to walk on walls. Its face is angry one way and sad another.
Ability - Trickster - When entering the field, the user messes with gravity and time to make slower pokemon attack first.
Description - A floating head with a face that is sad when viewed from one direction and angry when viewed from another.
    Stats:
    HP:60
    Atk: 5
    Defense:95
    Sp Atk: 56
    Sp Def: 95
    Speed: 170

I might come up with a second ability though. I do know that it will make very good use of Trick and Lagging tail in a Trick Room. It just has to survive til the trick room has ended.

    Hm. Maybe:

Fickle - Different moves may cause wild stat changes.

The moves would then be separated into different categories and each one would affect the pokemon differently.

Weather effect - Doubles evasion but reduces Special Attack.
Status Effect - Lowers speed dramatically but maxes out defense and special defense.
Healing effect - Normalizes all stats (including the reduction of stats from moves used against it)
    ...you know... that's too complicated.

Psychic Balance - Whenever this pokemon's HP is healed it normalizes stats and removes all status conditions.

Or something. That might be too good of an ability. I'll keep it as just trick room for now.

I has reviews. Fear the walls o'text.

    JammyU
    Name: Conglobber (conglomerate + slobber/clobber)
    Type: Rock/Bug
Method of Evolution: Lvl. up with 1 or more other Shuckle in team (the number of Shuckle that 'fuse' to make Conglobber affects the resultant Pokemon's stats. Namely, the ratio of it's attack power to defensive power - the more Shuckle join together (max 6 obviously) the higher the atk, sp.atk and speed and the lower the def and sp.def).
Description: The main, vaguely-humanoid body is made up of three Shuckle shells joined together by inter-twining yellow tentacles (like Shuckle's arms) - one for the head, one for the chest and one for the abdomen. Two Shuckle 'heads' emerge from the head shell and act as eye-stalks, a larger-than-usual hole in the head shell acts as a mouth and this plus the eye-stalks gives it a habitually surprised look. Two longer, thicker tentacles emerge from the chest shell to act as arms - they both end in another shell with three smaller emerging tentacles each that give the appearance of fingers. Two further large tentacles emerge from the abdominal shell to act as legs - these both end in flat-bottomed, hemispherical shells which the Pokemon walks on. Conglobber is very similarly coloured to Shuckle, although the reds of the shells are more brownish and the yellow tentacles are slightly darker. The holes are all rimmed with the same white and it has a few white spots, just like Shuckle.

Review: It has a Transformers feel to it. Nice name, although it tempts me to nickname it ‘Congo’. I like the monsterous appearance as opposed to Shuckle’s unassuming form. But I see a problem with the evolution method; what level do the Shuckle(s) have to be? If it’s any level, that could be a game-breaker or a surprise to someone who, for some reason, happened to have two Shuckles in their team.
    4/5

    Mew-100
    Name: Joustle (Joust + Shuckle)
    Type: Rock/Fighting
Method of Evolution: Shuckle ---> Level up w/ Ancient Power ---> Boukle
Description:Imagine a large boulder with 6 holes, 2 at the front and back and 4 with 2 on each left and right side. It has two large horns coming out of it and facing towards Joustle's view. Put a Giant Dark Yellow Shuckle with red eyes and a cracked, blunted horn on it's head and put that inside the shell with the respective body parts out the right place.

Review: A good idea, but unclear on the descriptions. Is the Giant Dark Yellow Shuckle the head piece or the whole body? And how many horns does it have? If I read it right, two on the boulder piece and one on the Shuckle. The name is really good; I like the idea of a jousting Pokemon. Did you mean that a Shuckle with Ancient Power evolves into Joustle, or is Boukle an intermediate phase? Needs some more work.
    2.5/5

    blue furret
    Name: Bruskle (The Brusque pokemon)
    Type: Bug
Method of Evolution: After level 30, level up after having used Power Trick at least 30 times in battles OR Acquire "Mold Breaker" ability and level up.
Description: Unlike its previous evolution, Shuckle, Bruskle has no outer shell having conformed to one powerful shape. Its yellow body is slightly darker than that of a shuckle but it wears the same face. It has four legs that arch high above its body like a spider. They look strong and sturdy unlike the spindly legs of Shuckle. Its body is segmented into two with two menacing backward facing arms/legs that jut out from its back (where it had holes in its mold before and where wings might be on a flighted insect) It has a tail with a sharp spike used only for attacking/stinging (not injecting poison)

Review: Nice one. It’s a natural feeling ‘next step’ to a hyper-defensive bug. The double method of evolution is good, considering both are fairly obscure. And they both make sense. The look of it is great. I just have one problem with it; with a name like that and the brute nature of this beast, it doesn’t seem right for it to have the same face as Shuckle.
    4.5/5

    Pamizard
Name: Irnuckle The Iron Pokemon(Iron + last few letters in Shuckles name)
    Type: Bug/Steel
Method of Evolution: Evolve Shuckle in trade holding a Metal Coat
Description: It look a little similar to shukle but instead its neck is longer and it has an iron head. Its shell is larger and metallic. Irnuckle's arms and legs that comes out of the iron shell are shaped like very sharp blades which are also made up of metal. The only part of its body that is not metallic is its tail and neck, everythign else is metal. There are no holes in its sheel other then for its legs and arms, head and tail.

Review: Oooo, Legend of Zelda fakemon… okay, past that. It’s a good design, but could be better. Instead of just an iron head, why not an ornate knight’s helmet? Or change the shell design so that it’s more knightly too. It’s kind of plain looking as it is. The evolution method makes sense, and yet I don’t think it would make it in a game (they don’t like using old items in new ways for preexisting Pokemon…). And this could have used a spellchecker.
    2.5/5

    Farmermon
    Name: Shuckoulder
    Type: Bug/Rock
Method of Evolution: lvl up from Shuckle learning Ancient Power, (at level 42... Ancient Power would be added into movepool.)
Description: Shuckle's shell has turned into a really large reddish brown boulder. The boulder has 5 large cracks in it (4 to fit the leg tentacles and 1 for the head.) It has a horn on its head. Its skin color has darkened from that brighter yellow to a duller tannish yellow.

Review: A bit basic, kind of a mix of Golem and Shuckle. The colors match well (provided what I see in my head is the same as yours…) and it’s a logical step to use Ancient Power for this. The name’s a tad long (10 characters is the norm). Nothing bad about it, but nothing outstanding either.
    3/5

    BynineB
    Name: Shuckalisk
    Type: Rock/Poison
Method of Evolution: Evolve Shuckle by feeding it a berry while it is holding a Poison Barb.
Description: Shuckalisk resembles a thick, yellow snake. It has long, curving fangs, with purple poison dripping off of them. It has red eyes with slitlike pupils, and two horns curving off of the top of them. The end of its tail has a dull red ball on it, mottled with white-rimmed holes and white spikes that are also dripping with purple poison.

Review: Clever twist, turning Shuckle into a basilisk. And it’s quite drippy. The evolution method is a bit odd; it would make thematic sense if it involved eggs or something with the Poison Barb, but that’s another story. I can see where the ball on its tail resembles its old shell, but it might be better if it were described as the Shuckalisk’s old shell. That would make this fakemon quite large. Great name, though.
    3.5/5

    Shac
    Name: Shuckhill [Shuck(le)+ (Ant-)hill]
    Type: Bug/Dragon
Method of Evolution: To get a shuckhill you have to get a shuckle that knows 'Dig'. Equip it with a 'dragon scale' and bury it in the ground (Go to a rock-smash-able mound, and if you have a suitable shuckle in your party, the game offers you to bury it!). Leave it overnight. Later when you visit the spot where you buried shuckle, there will a mound there. Use rock-smash on it, and Shuckhill will appear. You will have to re-capture it.
Description: The basic shape of Shuckhill's body is like that of an European Pear - that is to say the upper part of the body, which is the shape of a thumb, gradually gets wider and connects to the lower part of the body which is almost circular. The body is actually a four feet tall pear-shaped rock formation with many a holes in it, just like a shuckle has got. The whole body is of a reddish-brown color, a few shades darker than the red of Shuckle.
The biggest of the holes is near the top of the elongated part of the upper body. This is the face-hole. This hole is oval shaped, and bordered by a thick bone-white layer. There is no visible part of the face - the oval shape is all dark inside. Only two bright white circular eyes are visible through it. Two brownish yellow feelers jut out from the dark of the oval face. These feelers look similar to the limbs of a shuckle.
The other holes on the body are smaller in diameter than the main face-hole. These holes are also bordered by bone-white layers. Each hole only shows dark inside, but with a pair of white shining dots, like tiny eyes.
From the very bottom of the body four short, pillar-like legs protrude. These legs are of the same brownish-yellow like the feelers, and are much more muscular compared to those of a shuckle. Each paw has a white nail.
From a small hole in Shuckhill's back a tiny tail is visible too.

Review: Congratulations, you win most obnoxious evolution method for this round. Joking aside, that’s quite a monster, like a dragon crossed with a fort. The anthill part of its name seems understated compared to Shuckhill, but then you can just say it’s not quite a mountain of a Shuckle, just a hill. The glowy eyes are a nice spooky touch, although I get the feeling that it would be difficult to draw this one without making it look a tad goofy. The evolution method is logical, if a bit annoying in that you have to locate a (presumably) uncommon item, use a TM or breed for Dig, leave it for 8 hours, then recapture your own Pokemon. But I never said that it had to be an easy evo to get.
    4.5/5

    ChaRichard
    Name: Shuckorn(shuck+corn)
    Type: Bug/grass
Method of Evolution:lv up with maize stick
Description: Imagine a piece of corn. Now take off the leaves and you're left with a yellow bunch of kernels. Paint those red, and make the corn way bigger. the corn is squished up and rotated, so that it looks like a mushroom.the neck is the same as shuckle's. It has small legs(like shuckle's) coming out of the sides of its body, which are also yellow. There are also some holes(Like the original shuckle) on the 'shell'.the corn is squished up and rotated, so that it looks like a mushroom, except with red kernels and shuckle holes XD.But, the body of shuckorn is connected to the mushroom :O, unlike shuckle, and its limbs are attached to its body.

Review: I love the punny name on this one. I’m not so sure about the mushroom-corn look, though. It might have been nifty to give the shell a colorful maize pattern… I can’t see where the mushroom part comes into the picture either, as the maize would work alone for giving it a Grass type. The description’s a bit messy on this one.
    2/5

    Automatistic
    Name: Shuckeru
    Type: Bug/Fighting
Method of Evolution: Happiness with a Sitrus Berry
Description: It's Shuckle gone bipedal. The two back tentacley thingies are now its feet/legs, the front two are arms, and it has grown two more out its back. Its face has gotten more hard boiled and smug, with an "I've got you now" kind of expression. The shell is a deeper red, closer to the colour of blood. And also the legfeet are slightly more muscley than Shuckle.

Review: Nice evolution method; it fits with the berry-hoarding behavior Shuckle has. And good pick on its facial expression. However, what are the two extra tentacles on its back for? Imitating Machamp? And the description could have gone more in-depth. Shuckeru has a nice ring to it for a name, though.

OoHoohoo....I tied with blue furret! What do ya know!

    Anyway, New abilities today:

Power balance: If one stat. is reduced/increased, the counterpart is balanced accordingly. Thus if the opponent uses screech on you, your defense falls, but also your attack goes high. Similarly if you use harden, your defense rises, but then your attack falls. Speed is the counterpart of Evasiveness. Also, moves which increase multiple stats (ancient-power for example) do not work on the pokemon with this ability.

Elusive: Raises evasiveness every turn. (For the mosquito pokemon of my region)

    New TM:
Power support: In a tag battle if both pokemon use the same attack, attack power is 1.5 times higher.

Just going to review something, this time.
shac: Power Balance is probably one of the most epic abilities I`ve ever seen. It`s all I can do to stop my self from begging you to let me use it. The one thing that seems odd to me is I would of thought Accuracy would of been Evasiveness`s opposite, and speed`s opposite... Critical hit ratio? I don`t know.

Elusive is one of the most evil abilities I`ve ever heard. You`d probably have to finish it off early or use always hitting attacks. Giving one protect... would be mean.

Okay, I know I came up with a move with the same effect as Power Support once. I think it was called Tag Attack.

Woohoo, 2nd/3rd! (seeing as Shac and Blue Furret came joint 1st) So what's the next round? ^^

Just a quick note on the season pokemon I posted a few days ago; TM and I have decided to change the name to Ibronox (Ibex + Chronos) as we agreed with Ysavvryl that the previous name (Ibronus) was too similar to Arceus and we never intended ours to have any special relationship with it.

Also, our website (which I think originally linked to when I first joined) has finally got a substantial update in the form of a completed map of the Cuaro region (minus a couple of un-decided names). The Pokedex section is still looking rather barren however, with just the page of our Pikachu/Pachirisu-style mascot Pokemon - Swifcacha - up and running, though the starter and main legendary pages will be up fairly soon.

Yeah I kinda didn't concentrate on my entry :S To answer your questions:

    1. Yes, it is the whole body.
    2. It has 3, two on the body and 1 on the head.
    3. Boukle was what it was going to be, but then I found it a bit plain. I forgot to edit the name in the evolution.

I'll try to think more on the next one! I would've done Tokuturt from one of my previous generations in the 3rd installment of the club, but I wasn't sure whether I was allowed.

Yeah, there's two more judges to wait on before the round is over. Those are just my scores.

I did my own entry for the fun of it. So here's my obviously not counted Shuckle evo. I did mention something a while back about buzzsaw turtles, right?

    Name: Buzkle
    Type: Rock/Bug
Evolve: level a Shuckle that knows Cutter (more powerful version of Cut)
Description: Take your ordinary Shuckle and put a groove along the top-center of its shell (front to back groove). Now install a circular saw in said groove. This circular saw is gray with black edges. To match, make the shell gray, ringed with ivory white. Make the feet of Shuckle thicker and longer, with suction cups, leathery pads, and bristles to increase grip. The inner body is now orange. For safety purposes, put blocky safety goggles over the black eyes and a bright yellow helmet on the head. You now have Buzkle.

Review: It does indeed remind of of Devastator. The method of evolution is certainly unique, but the idea of giving up 6 skuckle seems a bit much. The drastic change from all out defense to all out attack is a good way to switch things up. I especially like the "surprised" look it always has, and the intertwined tentacles is a nice touch. Overall though, I'm not sure how practical it would be.

Review: The symmetrical appearance and the addition of the horns are cool. I particularly like the two that seem to come out of the shell, although I can't picture a shuckle-like creature charging with those like lances. I do like the name. The evolution method ties into many of the new evolutions, so thats cool. The Boukle part confused me a bit, but I'm going to assume you made a typo. Overall, you could use a bit more description.

Review: This is certainly a unique concept. I like the methods of evolution as I haven't seen one like the power trick method. The loss of the rock type fits the description, and I like the way you've set up the legs and tail. And I find it hilarious that a monster like this still has that cute little face.

Review: (LoZ yay!) Ahem. You started with a good concept, but the design is lacking finer details. It seems to be simply a metallic shuckle, more of a type change than an evo. The evolution method is sound, but in-game they would probably use another method as they don't like to use pre-existing methods. The blade arms are a nice touch though.

Review: This one looks like a regular evo to me. Its well balanced and looks like a bigger shuckle, but the'res nothing unique about it. I could definately see it in game though, kind of like Tangroth and Tangela. The evo method also matches with the other new evos, so it works nicely as well.

Review: I like the concept here. The evo method is a bit obscure, but the problem is that it has been possible to do since the original gold and silver games and so probably wouldn't be adopted in-game. Having the shell at the end of the tail is a nice touch, and I can't help but feel some kind of rattlesnake reference in that. I would like to see it in 3D because of all the dripping poison.
    3.5/5

Review: Haha, I love the evo method. Its just so randomly awesome. The addition of the dragon type gives the impression that this is a fairly powerful fakemon. The hidden face is cool, especially with each hole having its own pair of eyes. The feelers are also a nice touch. And I like how tall this thing is. You but a lot of details into it as well, and it seems like a well thought out concept.

Review: Interesting concept, and certainly a unique look. With the corn being straight red though, it might lose the look of corn and instead look like a really bumpy shell. With the body connected to the shell, did you mean that there is no gap between the body and the edges of the holes? The evo method is interesting, and now I'm curious as to what it is that the maize stick does. Overall, it could use a bit more work.
    2.5/5

    Automatistic
    Name: Shuckeru
    Type: Bug/Fighting
Method of Evolution: Happiness with a Sitrus Berry
Description: It's Shuckle gone bipedal. The two back tentacley thingies are now its feet/legs, the front two are arms, and it has grown two more out its back. Its face has gotten more hard boiled and smug, with an "I've got you now" kind of expression. The shell is a deeper red, closer to the colour of blood. And also the legfeet are slightly more muscley than Shuckle.

Review: I like the name. The evo method fits fairly well, but it is a pre-existing method. I'm guessing the two back tentacles are used for attack? I love how it still has the same head, but its trying to look tough. The blood red shell is a nice touch as well, as is the typing.

Lol Cutter. You could totally use that for the Emohawk fakemon.

    Unless that's too risqué.

So it's been an interesting weekend for me. Didn't think about Pokemon too much (other than if I really want to put in the time on a EV trained Bibarel ). Did play some MVC2 and BlazBlu (I am terrible at both unfortunately but it's fun to be included.) And I started a facebook game restaurant city. That should take up some more time -_-. Played a few hours of ping pong.

Went to a party on Saturday night and things were....interesting. Had a lot of fun, went to IHOP after and got to sleep around 7.

Anyone else have a good weekend?

    Back to pokemon:

Thinking about scrapping my Quitoxis idea for the floating steel poison porcupine/ekidna pokemon. I don't know what to do with the idea now. I guess I want it to be both magnetic and radioactive so that it's a Poison Steel pokemon with Levitate.

So, I completed two drawings - one a shuckhill, and the other a galeon. Only my scanner broke last week. So, I'll have to wait till I get it fixed. In any case, I'll have to wait to post the pic. for shuckhill, since the third judge has not rated it yet.

I need help with pictures . I've got some more doodles but bah. I'm still having trouble coming up with this steel poison pokemon. Right now it's an armadillo with a steel shell. Its name is Radillome - The radiation dome pokemon. (also a pun on Radium). It looks bland at the moment and I guess I can be okay with that if I can't figure it out. Any ideas of how to make a steel poison pokemon flavorful?

Oh and I decided to make a fakemon based on Serebii's pokemon of the week (might start doing it every week just for shiggles.)

    Venomond - The Diamondback pokemon
    Type: Bug/Poison
    Ability: Tinted Lens/Thick Fat
Flavor: Venomoth goes through a dramatic change after it has lived a while and eaten a lot of berries. It's much fatter than before but also carries a punch. More resilient than the first because of its size but it doesn't suffer in the speed department because its power launches it at magnificent speeds (though not really very fast either) Has hawklike talons, giant wings a massive body with diamond patterns on the back. It's green and purple with eyes more like Venonat than Venomoth.

This morning I made 2 pokemon. They are grass type dinosaurs.

    Shrubio (Shrub + Brachio (brachiosaurus)
    Shrub
    6'3
    100lbs
    Grass
    Evolves at level 40
Des: He is lime green colored. It has shrubs on its back. he also has two leafs near his head

Pokedex: This pokemon lives in forests. Berries grows on its shrubs in Spring. the berries are quite delicate for humans and Pokemon. It hibernates during the winter and goes into a dormant state.

My first time calculating stats but here is one example of stats at level 50
    Hp: 150
    Attack: 90
    Defense: 100 (high in defense)
    Sp. Attack: 95
    Sp Def: 88
    Speed: 63

Shrubio evolves into my next pokemon, Forestio

    Forestio
    Forest
50'6 (beats wailord as the largest Pokemon)
    300lbs (might change the weight)
Des: It's neck is 10x longer then its pre evo. It has trees as well as shrubs on its back. It has leaves on the end of its tail and branches on its head with small leaves.

Dex: This Pokemon beats WAILORD as the largest Pokemon. It has a complete forest on its back. Many small Pokemon live in its forest. UNlike its pre evo, this Pokemon never goes into dormancy. Instead these Pokemon travel in herds

    Stats (level 50)
    Hp: 250
    Attack: 130
    Defense: 140
    Sp Attack: 135
    Sp Defense: 98
    Speed: 70
