Official HG/SS Recent Happenings Thread - [READ THE FIRST POST]

[Blazing Charmander]

Stuck in Ecruteak City for the time being while I wait to draw out a Magmar in Burned Tower to catch as my team's Fire type. It's proving to be a tedious and difficult job, which has made me consider using my Pokewalker in order to catch a Magby on the Rugged Road course. The wait hasn't been a total waste though. I took a break out and went back to National Park to train my Togepi, which was happy enough to evolve into Togetic. Since then, i've managed to train it a few levels against the Koffing in Burned Tower. It's not a permanent member of my team, but it's proving to be very significant at this stage.

Alright, I've got SS in my DS right now, so guess I'll do an update on that.

After I beat Morty at Ecruteak Gym, I raced over to Mahogany town to beat up Team Rocket. Then I went back to Olivine, and did all the Lighthouse stuff, beat all trainers, met up with Jasmine, went to Cianwood (where I am now) and have the medicine. I just beat Chuck, and tomorrow I will trade over a flying Pokemon to my game, so I can get there without crossing the sea. And here's my team so far:

I am currently in the Team Rocket HQ, I have already done the Olivine Lighthouse stuff, went to Cianwood, whooped Chuck with Murkrow, gave Ampharos the medicine (thanks to my Murkrow for Flying me there ^_^) . I am trying to train my Quilava, so I can properly take on Jasmine. In SS, while I was at Mahogany town, I battled all the regular trainers inside the gym, getting some experience, so I'll do the same in HG once I can Fly. And my team so far:

well after grinding my team up 2 suitable levels i decided to take on the elite 4 and i won on my first try the real anoyyers were koga and karen spamming double team with crobat and umbreon
also lance really did not want to give up his reign of champion because he spammed like 4 full restores when i thought they only spam them twice oh well i made it
thinking of leaving a couple of pokemon behind like Steelix, ampharos, furret and poliwhirl and using gligar eevee and tyrogue,

skipped 2 gyms (my pokemon needed some serious levelling) went to the lake of rage and caught red gyarados in one attempt and used it to help me clear team rocket and beat the gym closest (i can't remember the names atm >_< havent been there long)

chasing down raikou and entei and using my red gyarados's dragon rage to weaken them then using my skiploom (floaty :P) to stun them and try and catch them with heavy balls or fast balls

Both Bryne and Axol have evolved a stage. Once both have evolved, I'll take on the Elite Four again. Once I get Blue's number and call him, I'll rematch all 16 Gym Leaders.

I went through the elite four twice, to train my pokemon, mostly my Dratini with extremespeed. Right now its at level 32 as a Dragonair. These things are still hard to train >_<. But now, Meganium is going after Shiny Leaves. Since it's Timid, I found the Shiny Leaf above the bridge in Cerulean in about a minute. Man I was surprised. It now has Four Leaves. Route 10 and 16 are all I have left for Meganium. I think I'm going to EV train my Espeon, because its nature isn't bad for Special Attacking, plus its at level, 76 and its special attack is 269 and speed is 216. I love Mild Nature <3. Welp, I guess this is it for now. Going back to Leaf Hunting. Oh! I might do the catching contest, thats of course if i can finally win. I want to evolve my Sunkern to Sunflora for my Pokedex. Man the catching contest was much easier back in G/S/C.

Edit: I forgot to say, my pikachu from the pokewalker with surf is modest, and has decent IV's. Win!

I decided to get SoulSilver yesterday, so I'm going to post ALL my adventures here. Are you ready!?

Part 1 - The beginning
My character, Emerald, had a hard time chosing the starter. Cyndaquil, Chikorita and Totodile are all very cute. After some thinking, I decided to go with Cyndaquil.
I called the little male Cyndaquil "Pyramus". This name comes from an ancient Roman myth, the myth about Pyramus and Thisbe.

I trained Pyramus and I really liked him, I won't regret this choice.
While thinking about my final team, I noticed there's way to much awesome pokemon in this game! It's going to be hard chosing a good team.

After training Pyramus, delivering the Mysterious egg and learning how to catch pokemon, I decided to catch a Hoothoot. I caught a male HootHoot and called him Verginius, again a name from the old Roman mythes.

Part 2 - My first gym
After arriving in Violet City I decided to catch a Mareep, a female. I called her Thisbe. I trained Thisbe, Pyramus and Verginius to lvl 12. But just before entering the gym, I decided I really wanted to get a Quilava before challenging the gym. So it was time for more training!

After Pyramus evolved, I challenged the gym. It was a piece of cake! Except for Falkner, Thisbe had some problems taking out the Pidgeotto. But thanks to Thisbe's static ability, we managed to kill Pidgeotto too!

My team at this moment:

Challenged Blackthorn's leader (forget her name), and Kangaskhan was a beast there
Went through the whole dragon's den part
Went to capture lugia, Took me 35 ultra balls and finally caught it.
Went to victory road, Beat my rival and now gonna start the first Elite Four
41 Ampharos, 45 Lugia, 40 Typhlosion, 38 Kangaskhan, 38 Scizor and deciding on which 6th pokemon I should use .

Wow that was the last time i updated.

Well i beat the elite four in style, lance and the 4th one gave me trouble but i pulled it out.

Went to kanto and beat LT.Surge easily. Went to explore kanto and then beat Janine. Then within 2 hours I beat sabrina, misty and then went to beat erika. Migrated a blastoise over. Went to pewter city and beat brock with ease. Then I caught all three dogs. Then went down to seafoam islands and beat blaine. I just beat Blue also which was super easy.

Well that was a very very brief story of what i did in about 26 hours, now gonna get bulbasaur from oak,catch latios and train my team.

I read everything. xD I enjoy reading people's journey posts like this. I find it quite interesting. :)

Well, last night I didn't do much. My team and I still haven't entered Ecruteak City - I'm really taking my time with this game. We're mainly just bumming around, collecting Apricorns and I'm trying to figure out how to make good Aprijuice for my Pokemon.

We've tried the Pokeathlon three times, and the third time (last night) we tried out the Jump Course - and my team (Nausicaa, Faux, and Mokri) won first place in all three events, and won for the whole course! :DD I was so proud of them. We had a ton of fun with it too, I love the Pokeathlon. :>

After that, I was exhausted (it was like 12:30am), so we went to rest in a Pokemon Center and call it a day.

Today however I plan to try the Bug Catching Contest again, try to make some more Aprijuice, and do more Pokeathlon stuff, Then we'll probably start heading out to Ecruteak City.

Yeah, I got Soulsilver when it first came out but I didn't have the time to post so hear it is:

Choose Cyndaquil instead of Chikorita and named him Knuckles.
Did all the beggining stuff, leveled Knuckles up to Lvl. 7 and beat my rival, which leveled Knuckles up to Lvl. 8.
Leveled Knuckles up to Lvl. 10 and traded over Pikachu(Volt Burst) and a Turtwig egg.
Took on Sprout tower with Knuckles.
Took on Falkner's Gym in which Knuckles evolved.
Beat Falkner and got the Togepi egg(Which I won't be using).

I did battle my rival named Suliman for the second time.
Before battling him I trained my Pidgey and Totodile to evolve into Pidgeotto and Croconaw respectively.
I trained my Onix many levels and is now on the same level as my other Pokemon.
Before all that I caught a Slowpoke for my sister because before that she couldn't seem to find any.
While training I caught some Pokemon for my Pokedex
then attempted to battle Bugsy but I couldn't seem to knock out his Scyther.
I restarted my DS after that and will train more before attempting battling him again.

I attempted battling Bugsy again but this time with Hiruko and beat him!

When I get to Goldenrod City, I'm going to rename my Croconaw to Kisame.

Successfully got to Goldenrod City.
Croconaw is now renamed Kisame.
Got my picture taken with my pretty Pokes.
Now trying to find a Heracross in Ilex Forest to swipe Whitney with.
No luck so far... >.<

I got the finally got my hands on HeartGold yesterday.

Yesterday I:

I started with cyndaquil. Before I took on faulkner, I caught a mareep and raised it a little in the sprout tower. I beat faulkner easily and both my pokemon evolved.
I then made my way to Azelea town to deal with team rocket and bugsy. I beat my rival then healed and saved.

Today I:
I went to Goldenrod city to get a bike and a radio card. I beat whitney after a couple of tries. That miltank was so annoying! I went to ekruteak but on the way, I stopped to go to the pokeathlon and have a go at the bug catching contest.
I caught a level 15 butterfree and didn't even get into the top 3, so i nicknamed it LOSER.
I'm having a little trouble with morty so i'm doing a little bit of training.

In my desperate pursuit for a Magmar in the Burned Tower, I didn't even realise that they were only catchable in the Basement where the Legendary Dogs were resting - that was realisation kicking in after two fruitless days of searching for one on the top floor. ¬_¬ So I defeated my Rival, scared off the Beasts and resumed my search until I finally found and captured one. I can't be bothered to wait for a Magby to appear on my Pokewalker, so I continued on my journey with Magmar.

He was a great help in the Ecruteak Gym, which I didn't actually expect but he was actually packing Faint Attack which is obviously devastating against the Ghost type. The Gym Battle against Morty was mostly dominated by Croconaw and Togetic, although i'm ashamed to admit complacency at times which resulted in Togetic being taken down by his first Haunter. However, i'm still proud of its effort in the battle especially because of it taking out Morty's signature Gengar before falling. It was then over to Croconaw who, despite getting subjected to Hypnosis and Dream Eater at least once, stood strong and devastated the remaining Haunters with Bite.

After the battle, I decided to travel back to New bark to finally show Prof. Elm my hatched Togepi... well Togetic lol. On my way, I answered a call from the notorious stalker that is Irwin the Juggler and I was amused and rather freaked out when he said he'd gone to the Gym to cheer on my battle. Oooo-kay... And moving on, I used the journey back home as an opportunity to give my baby Eevee a ton of experience and happiness from wild battles, but when I reached Route 29 my heart jolted when I heard the unique wild battle music for RAIKOU! I was like "OHMYGOSH I wasn't expecting this so soooon!" and still in shock I threw my solitary Fast Ball in my inventory. Surprisingly it shook THREE times (I really thought i'd caught it) before it escaped the confines of the Fast Ball, and escaped my grip. Until next time, my new friend.

In the meantime, I put that encounter to the back of my mind by continuing on to Olivine and approaching Jasmine in the Lighthouse, who was tending to Amphy. Bellsprout evolved on the way up; about time!

started over after trading eighteen pokemon to my diamond, at least five of which im going to breed (hopefully successfully, im new at it) into a good team. i kinda died on the inside when i deleted my data on soulsilver, it was like selling my soul to the devil for a better team. already got a shiny abra from breeding, just hoping its good. next up, scizor. anyway, i cant trade em over yet and i dont want to leave them in the dust, so currently soft-resetting for a pure Sp. Atk Cyndaquil and whatever else comes with him, or a shiny. either way, i think ill be busy until i manage to get my hands on a second ds.

I battled my way through the ice caves to Blackthorn and ended up at the final gym with all of my Pokemon at level 33. Basically, I was way too low for a very difficult gym leader. With the use of 11 Hyper Potions and 5 revives I managed to take out the Kingdra and win only to be sent to the dragon cave.

I'm not satisfied with my levels so tomorrow is going to be hours of grinding to get all 6 in my team to 38 at least before entering the cave. Does anyone have any good grinding spots for 33+?

I'm thinking of the grass under Blackthorn but any other suggestions would be most welcome!
