Official HG/SS Recent Happenings Thread - [READ THE FIRST POST]

I'm still slowly trying to catch all the Legendaries available in the game, and decided to finally go after Moltres. After what was close to twenty Ultra Balls, I decided to try to throw a Dusk Ball, and would you know it, I caught the Moltres on the first try. Now it's just on to the roamers, which I still haven't caught any of. Oh well.

I'm actually deciding to go ahead and rebuild my entire team for Red. I'm not really going for any advantage in particular against him, that is, I'm not stacking my team to ensure victory. Currently my set team is Lucario, Heracross, Gallade, Donphan, and Staraptor. But besides Heracross, I'm not sure what fields to EV train the others in, and I'm not entirely sure what my sixth will be.

I defeated Clair(e) and entered the Dragon's Den. I completed the quiz, and she grudgingly gave me my badge. After later getting a TM from her, I went back into the Den and got an Extremespeed Dratini.

I went to New Bark Town and got the Masterball from Professor Elm. I'm waiting to receive a Marill off the GTS to use as an HM slave, then I'll head east to the Pokémon League.

Recently defeated Red for like the 20th time so far, just for experience and money's sake haha. I finally got every Pokemon on my HeartGold team to level 100 even though the whole tedious process took literally half a year to accomplish but I'm happy eitherway. Battled Clair and Jasmine in the Saffron City Dojo in a rematch just because I love the Gym Leader music that plays. Went to the Saffron City PokeMart to pick up some items for later like Super Potions and Repels. Then went to Silph Co to pick up my Hoenn Starter since I haven't done so already due to being busy with stuff. Picked Mudkip since it's my favorite and named it "Kipper". Saved for now.

I have searched and searched for a shiny pokemon, I have tried chaining and breeding too.
Can anyone give me any help on how to get to easily get a shiny pokemon!

There's no easy way to get shiny Pokemon without resorting to cheat devices and RNG in SS.

I'd sugest you just EV train somewhere and hope for the best XD.

Started Soul Silver!

Chose Cyndaquil as my starter, but im not going to use it. Did all the pregame stuff and then finally headed to Violet City. Along the way i caught a Sentret with i will now use as part of my team. Next, I'll search for a gastly and ill take on the gym.

After going to Viridian Forest to catch a Kricketot [Swarm] and finding Bugsy there, I took on the Battle Factory (Multi) and got a streak of seven. I called Bugsy at 12:55 and 1pm [it's Thursday today] and no rematch. ???
I decided to challenge Blue. It took a while to reach him but here's how the battle unfolded:
Gusto defeated Exeggutor with a single Air Slash. I switched to Cotton which left Rhydon with 10% after one Giga Drain. Rhydon OHKO'd Jumpluff with Stone Edge. I sent Gusto who finished off Rhydon. Blue sent out Gyarados; I sent out Wobbuffet, who Countered to defeat the water Pokemon. Blue sent out his Arcanine. I sent out Dash, who was Flare Blitzed and OHKO'd. The same happened to Tails, Gusto and Custard, without me even touching Arcanine. Then Arcanine fainted due to recoil. Blue sent out Machamp, and all I had left was Jaws. Jaws managed to Waterfall a couple times to finish off Machamp but I had just 8HP. Blue sent out Pidgeot. I fainted.
I challenged Blue for the second time. Noctowl didn't manage to OHKO Exeggutor and as such Blue got a Trick Room up. Noctowl finished off Exeggutor the next turn. Jaws OHKO'd Rhydon. Blue sent out Pidgeot and I kept Feraligatr. Unfortunately, Jaws fainted. The battle proceeded and I eventually lost against his final Pokemon - Gyarados.

I shall try again later.

Yesterday, I was attempting to get my 4th star on my trainer card for getting passed the 100th floor on the Battle Tower and I finally completed it. It took a while and there were moments where I was close to losing but luckily I managed to win and get that trainer star. Now I only need one more star which is the one for Completing the Pokedex. This is the team that led me to the 100th floor of the Battle Tower.

Yesterday, I was attempting to get my 4th star on my trainer card for getting passed the 100th floor on the Battle Tower and I finally completed it.

Congrats! I forgot all about the battle tower! I can't wait to get started on it now!

I have been trying to get my MilkTank and Magneton above level 50 for completion of the Kanto Region gym badges.

I got Chuck's, Whitney's and Sabrina's phone numbers and then took on Blue again.
He led with Exeggutor, and I with Gusto. Gusto's Air Slash left it with 10% HP. He used Psychic, leaving me with 60%. He healed and I used Air Slash. It missed =/. Air Slash again. He used Trick Room. And then he defeated me. I sent out Cotton but he switched. In the end, I went down to Pidgeot, with Blue only having his Pidgeot at 5% HP and Gyarados at full HP =/
Perhaps attempt four will be luckier?
Oh, I also went on the SS Aqua again and demolished some trainers :]

Trying to fit in some time in my busy schedule to play my soul silver. just recently beat Janine wasn't a challenge. Decided to switch my battle options to set to make the fights a little more challenging. Now headed towards lavender town, want to see suicune one last time so I can catch it in cape cove.

Working on Route 26 with my NIDORINO to get him up to level 50 before trying out the Battle Frontier with my second string team. The male NIDORINO has the Rivalry ability, Poison Barb item and the Poison Jab battle move which are a quite effective combination against all but SANDSHREW Pokemon so far.

I have recently gone through the pokemon league over and over and over and over for two weeks now to get my team to about level 75.
As I finally had leveled all my pokemon to level 65, I decided to cut out Snorlax and get an Omostar instead. So now I'm only waiting for Omostar to get to level 75, and then I can start training so that I may finally beat Lance (he constantly beats me when I'm in the league).

After beating him I will catch Lugia and Mewtwo and perhaps use them when I battle Red. I haven't used a legendary pokemon for so long that I really am starting to miss them. I was actually going to include suicune for my team, but it was adamant, so it really sucked.

A few days ago I picked up my SS, after weeks, if not months, of not playing.

I beat Blue, then I started catching some legendary's.

I caught Moltres, Zapdos and Suicune, gave Zapdos the name: "Zapper". Then I EV trained his special attack to maximum, need to work on speed now. But I have no idea were to EV train speed. Because I didn't know where to go, I just did some Battle Arcade for BP. I beat Dahlia easily with all 3 poke's still alive, and now I need 1 more Bp for Heat Wave on Zapper :P .

Today, I finally beat the E4 and Lance my second time on my HG game.

When I had beat all gymleaders, including blue, in Kanto, my team pokemon were all about level 55.
My team at that point: Typhlosion, Kingdra, Scizor, Snorlax, Magneton and Gengar.
The following two weeks I went through the League again and again and again.It took me 23 hours of tedious gameplay, but finally they were all above or at level 75, except for Omastar who was in level 71 (while training them I decided to cut out Snorlax and train an Omostar instead). At that point I finally thought I'd be able to defeat that crazy dragon trainer, Lance. And I did
So now my team is:

Omastar/Typhoon - lvl 71
Kingdra/Fafnir - lvl 75
Typhlosion/Olympus Mons - lvl 76
Scizor/Apache - lvl 77
Gengar/Viking - lvl 75
Magneton/Storm - lvl 75

Now I'm off to catch Lugia and Mewtwo!

Spent most of the day working outside but that did not mean, I forgot about Pokemon HeartGold! Instead, I used my Pokewalker to get lots of freebies. I put my level 61 FERALIGATR and worked with the DOWSING game to find several needed items for my quest to beat the Battle Tower. I found Star Piece, Super Repel, Red Shard, Antidote, Escape Rope, PP Up and much more during repeated “Receive Gift” downloads from my Pokewalker as the day rolled on by.

I took a total of 14,424 steps but only got one hour of real gameplay in.

I was trainig my team in front of Goldenrod City while looking for a Psyduck. I just beat Morty and I need a Pokemon that can learn surf. My Ekans just evolved, but I'll probably discontinue this playthrough, because I can't find a surfing Pokemon.
