I think it is pulling a DBZ Kai and airing on two channels one airing it in July and the other this fall.

That's really interesting, I haven't heard any other sources report this though so I'm going to go double check but hopefully this is right, I'd love to have my summer filled with Digimon.

Hm, I'd expect some of it to get out before the end of the year. While the bulk of it probably will be in 2014 I can't see Bandai not trying to milk the tv series in some way.

Why would they list a date on a trade sheet - meant specifically to convey information to retailers and potential promotional partners - if they themselves don't intend to follow it?

It's not unusual for toys to be put up on shelves earlier then their release date. Power Rangers Megaforce for instance had some of its toys up in December 2012 despite the 2013 release date.

Which doesn't mean you should expect it on the basis of "[you] can't see Bandai not trying to milk the tv series in some way".

If anything, it makes more sense for them to hold back the toy line for the revival of a mercurial franchise like Digimon - if you launch the toys at the same time as the show and the show doesn't catch on, you've got the toys rotting away on shelves. Waiting allows them to better gauge the demand for the toy line.

I never said I expected the toys as soon as the show launches, moreso I meant that since there's a precedence for toys coming out earlier before it may also happen in this case. Plus, having something to market along with the show is always nice since when the show finally settles in they'll have some revenue to gain, even if they don't give out every single toy they have.

Also, if the July release is true then I'd figure it'd be better to ride those curtails earlier then spring 2014 since that's over 6 months without a toy to market.

The Spring 2014 release might be referring to Digimon Fusion toys only. It's a Digimon Fusion ad, after all.

From the looks of it, Fusion's still on for Fall (in fact, it implies that it'll debut on Vortexx after Nick). Other then that, nothing much.
