So, you, NL and Chii has this mark caused by the effect of a zanpakto, and the mark kinda bursts your reiatsu and abilities, but while the mark is active, you lose your rationality? Simply put, it's like Ichigo's Hollow form while fighting Ulquiorra?

For the first 2 times the mark activates, you can't control when it will happen, but after that, you can freely enter the Wreath Wraith state, yes? ...Sounds like Avatar...

And finally... When 2 people in a certain area both have the mark on them, if one enters the wraith state, the other one will be stimulated to enter the wraith state also? Even after they've passed the '2 times' requirement?

I firstly thought you got the mark idea from Zombie Tattoo. XD

Well, yes and no. In that state, Ichigo just wanted to kill whatever was in his way and protect Orihime, who awakened that state. In Wraith State, the user is basically reduced to instinct, and by losing their rationality, they lose their strategizing abilities. They become just... mindless animals.

For the first 2 times the mark activates, you can't control when it will happen, but after that, you can freely enter the Wreath Wraith state, yes? ...Sounds like Avatar...

Erm... that's the explanation that they're running with right now. It's not actually the case, but it's what they think it is in the story. There's actually a different thing that allows you to control it, and Kida has already fulfilled the requirement. The movie, or the horrible american cartoon?

And finally... When 2 people in a certain area both have the mark on them, if one enters the wraith state, the other one will be stimulated to enter the wraith state also? Even after they've passed the '2 times' requirement?

Sorta... it's like this. The marks resonate with each other, so if one mark activates in close proximity to another mark, it'll stimulate the second mark closer to activation. If the user is already being pushed far enough, it just automatically activates. And yes, if they're past the first two activations, the mark becomes unstable and prone to activation under stress. So, if another mark activated nearby, the unstable mark would instantly go off. Remember, just because the mark has activated twice doesn't mean it's controlled although the characters in the story think it's the case. It's complicated, I know.

Type: Projectile

Manifestation: Somewhat resembles an Italian mob boss, but only in a white coat.

Appearance: It resembles a chrome plated Tommy gun, but the only difference is that there is a device mounted on its top that resembles (and is) a four-barrel carburetor. However, there are cylindrical cartridges mounted on its right and left that are filled with a neon red liquid that is the main components of the gun's bullets.

How it works: In its normal state, the bullets it fires are neon red and leave a red aura behind. When it hits the target it may inflame some of their internal organs (though chances of this are low) and whether it does or doesn't, it will always leave a second-degree burn on the place where it hit the target.

Bankai: (What the Shikai says, it's under construction).

Now that I read the end of the chapter, I have to say, that was a very well done reference to the.... thingy.

“Now I see what you were trying to do, bastard.”

Senny and Golde both sweatdropped at her quick turnaround, she had just calmed Seijuro down before she flew into a rage. Oh the irony.

Ah, of course.

“How far has yours gotten? 60% completion or something, right?”

“It was at 75% before you pissed me off,” he muttered, shifting his back uncomfortably. “It’s probably closer to 80% now.”

Ah, percentages.

“That long?” Cameron whined. “It’s so damn borin’! It’s time fer me t’kill, dammit.”

“You can leave, Cameron,” Seijuro said coldly. “If you’re not going to take this business more seriously, then you have no place in this meeting.” How I was the only Captain to end up with a "Special Needs" Lieutenant, I'll never know. Meh, at least he does his job well.

I have to say, he deserved that (not irl, of course).

He glared back. “Please, Kida. Normally I’d laugh like the rest of you, but today I’ve had my subordinates murdered, my arm nearly amputated, the person I hate the most show up and taunt me, and we’ve got an army full of Captain-class fighters hiding in the shadows waiting to strike and butcher us all. It’s not a good day for laughter. Not to mention that you’re sinking to Dauc’s level of humor, which is irritating.”

Wow.

“Yeah, if the mark activates, then they have a huge burst of power and sometimes new abilities, at the cost of their reason,” he explained. “And when I say huge, I mean enough power to take a barely trained Shinigami and make him a match for a seated officer. Or, to put it another way, enough power to make a Lieutenant a Captain-class, or a Captain a match for the Head Captain.”

That is huge. Which reminds me, would Golde be somewhere between a Head Captain and a normal Captain? Or would he be on level of a Head Captain (or slightly below it).

“Dead wrong, Arc,” Seijuro said flatly. “The leader of this group is the wielder of Ojiki no Tsume.” This time, surprise manifested itself in the form of dead silence. “I recognize it from when I did some research to find out what gave me the mark. If just its mark can make an unseated Shinigami a match for a seated officer, I shudder to think at what the sword itself is capable of.”

I's scareded.

“Division 12 created Test Subjects 041 and 042, Chii and Kida Ookami, as subjects for an experimental program known as Pale Claw,” the researcher intoned. “This was before I was a member of Division 12, under the command of Mayuri Kurotsuchi. Both Ookami sisters were created to mimic the effects of an unnamed Zanpaktou, which we now know as Ojiki no Tsume. Both experiments succeeded to a certain extent, although the wolf ears, tail, fangs, and other attributes were unintended side effects.” He gestured to Kida, on whom all the supposed “side effects” were clearly visible. “Kurotsuchi proceeded to test their abilities under various conditions. The tests were… extreme and inhumane at times, and so a young unseated researcher in 12th Division, Dauc Narcisse, took action and told Head Captain Hitsugaya after the Winter War ended.”

Ah, 12th Squad. How kooky we are.

“Because it was only at about 20% completion,” he answered, drawing a few looks of confusion. “The mark fully activates twice, I believe. Once, when it’s first manifested and the user is pushed to their limit, and another when it’s fully manifested itself under the same conditions. Certain other things, like extreme anger or another mark activating nearby can set off the marks too. After that, the user apparently gains control of it.”

So the first time it happens, it sets off. And again when you reach 100%? As well as other marks going off, or extreme emotion, etc. etc.

“What state?” Arc asked. “Wreath state? You’re going to turn into a Christmas decoration?”

That was SO needed XD.

Jin fumbled with the cuffs, and Seijuro immediately took advantage. “Bakudou 21: Sekienton!” he shouted, a red smoke bomb going off in his hands, temporarily blinding everyone. He bolted out of the ring of Shinigami, bursting through the door and kicking off the outside railing with shunpou.

Oh Godamnit.

“Yer not goin’ anywhere, Popsicle breath,” Cameron cackled.

“Blue, you son of a-“

I can actually see Blue coming in to help his Captain, and to join in the fight.

“This has been one hell of a day,” he grumbled, resealing his Shikai and sheathing his sword before dispersing the blade back into his inner world for stealth purposes. And there’s only going to be more to come in the following days.

That's GOOD.

Yasushi Hayashi had never gaped as widely as he did at the end of Kida’s statement since Ryuu had given him a lecture on the structure of Rubix Cubes. “That… is certainly a mess,” he said plainly, not much else coming to his mind.

I lol'd.

Kida, this is Seijuro. I need you to get Dauc on the case of figuring out more about the Kizuato Toorima, and enlist the help of Captains you can trust. Ryuu’s going to be busy with strengthening the Seitreitei’s defenses, so he’s out.

NL, Da.c, probably also Zam, maybe MC or Arc as well... Depends on who can go and who can't.

Also, keep an eye out for Blue or have someone either you or I trust do it, please. I will come back, and I will have control of the mark when I do. One last thing, now that I’m gone, you can freely enter Wraith State without setting me off, so don’t hesitate to use it if you need to.

The part of me sending a Hell Butterfly to Kida is simply because I knew that doing this whole thing on my own would be too much godmodding/trolling/whatever... >.>

So the only ways to be able to control the Wraith State is to have gone into it twice (which is what the characters think, though actually not) or to have killed a family member (as well as a few other possible outcomes).

I liked this chapter, somewhat. Something important happened, but not a lot itself has happened.

So that's what Aizen looks like? I expected him to be paler, and his hair (somehow) differently coloured. Also, his irises are more silver, than yellow.

Page 5, he oddly looks like Hitsugaya in the top panel XD. Probably because we can see his hairline.

Ah, yes, comedic expressions XD.

Ah, a cloaked figure. At first I thought it was Zangetsu, but I wasn't sure how that'd be possible (he's obviusly younger) but the only other person would be HIchigo... But that would make LESS sense.

Ah, so he can use Ichigo's Bankai...

He actually looks kinda cute

So, Tensa Zangetsu is different to Zangetsu? Well, we haven't seen Zangetsu in forever, also the whole "the first time Ichigo used Getsuga Tenshou in Bankai was as HIchigo" which could affect it (Tensa being a fused embodiment of Zangetsu and HIchigo, perhaps?).

Engetsu, eh? Well the 2 Kanji for Zangetsu means "Slaying Moon" so whether Engetsu uses the Slaying or the Moon part, idk, since I don't know Kanji.

So Engetsu and Zangetsu Tensa Zangetsu probably are connected in some way, not just their Shinigami's being related, probably also.

"I can't teach you this"- as opposed to "I won't teach you this" or "I shouldn't reach you this". It's HIGHLY improbably that Tensa Zangetsu is unable to teach Ichigo, but probably more "it might kill you!" kind of thing.

"What you want to protect and what I want to protect are 2 different things!" So a Zanpakutou and his Shinigami are more seperate than I thought, from what the filler arc made me believe.

So, I suppose that there is no "the spiritually aware will awake before all others" theory now.

So it's a "blind people cannot see the pit of fire they are walking into" kind of analogy.

Ah, this'll be interesting, seeing as how Aizen knows that Tatsuki and Keigo are related to Ichigo.

Chapter 9

“Looks like your hat will be safe for now, Zam,” Senny nudged Zameric in the ribs. Zameric merely rolled his eyes.

Just one day after Luppi’s and Emcee’s arrival, Rotrum and Arceus had reached the Gladrylis Valley, also bearing the same story of being attacked on the way.

. . .

“So, are you coming or not?” Rotrum asked wearily.

Arceus placed his hand on his chin and scratched his head, something he’d done every time Rotrum asked him the same question, which was probably five or six times already. “Well, the thing is, you know... Being asked to make such decisions in a short time...” He began his usual sentence; he had repeated that quite a few number of times already.

“I don’t care about that and I JUST WANT YOUR ANSWER DAMMIT!”

Arceus scratched his head again, and laughed. “Sorry, sorry. Yeah, of course I will. Nothing for me to do here anyway. Heheh, I was just messing around with you.”

Rotrum gave Arceus a death glare, but for all the response he got, he might have just been giving a warm smile. He started walking. The entire conversation has been happening on the edge of the river, just beside the small house where they both had occupied a few days ago.

“Anyway, where are we headed to?”

“To the west. You know this Gladrylis Valley?” Rotrum enquired.

“Uhh, yes. But I’ve never actually been there. Just heard of the place in passing. People say...” he trailed off. “Nah, it wouldn’t be good to taint a child’s mind with gruesome stories.”

“I AM NOT A CHILD!”

“Yeah, well. A kid then?” Before Rotrum could retaliate, Arceus cut across him. “Anyway, weren’t you going to tell me something?”

“Well, as a matter of fact, yes. Here-” Rotrum held up his zanpakto and said, “Allow me to introduce Yuki Senkou.”

“Hi Arc,” a voice emanated from the sword.

Arceus stopped dead in his tracks. “Hello?” the voice came again, sounding a bit tentative now. Arceus looked at Rotrum, then to his zanpakto, then to Rotrum again.

“I... What... You... Hey, you never told me you have a summon spirit!”

Rotrum merely looked politely confused. When Arceus continued looking at him, he said, “Summon spirit, what... Oh.” Memory was coming back to his mind, when Arceus explained all about those spirits and items during their first encounter. “Oh... Well... Strictly speaking, not really... But I guess they could fall into the same category... Yeah. Anyway, Yuki Senkou, Arceus.” He placed the sword onto his back.

“That should explain the ice, then...” Arceus said.

“Pardon?”

“Remember when you fell? I told you, right? The area around where you fell... Well, it was covered with ice. I assume your sword bears the power to manipulate ice?”

“Oh. That. Yeah, it did.”

“Did?” Arceus asked. “You... lost your power?”

Rotrum looked thoughtful. “Mhmmm... To be honest, I haven’t tried yet using my zanpakto ever since I got here. But I don’t know. Since I lost my shinigami power-”

“Doesn’t mean I lost mine,” Yuki Senkou interrupted. When Rotrum and Arceus looked at the zanpakto, he continued, “Well, really, yes. The others too have found out that they still can use their powers, albeit less powerful than usual compared to the ones we possess in our shikai form. So... I guess I can still use mine.”

“Oh.” Rotrum looked immensely relieved; apparently he hadn’t asked his zanpakto about that due to some reason or another. “Anyway, what is our bearing?”

“Let’s cut to the essentials. I wanted to know what happened when you met him,” Golde interrupted Rotrum, who was telling him about the quarrel he and Arceus had had over who should go and look for firewood and who should go and find food.

“Okay, okay. Well, it was during our, err, third day I think-” Rotrum began, but Arceus cut across him.

“Nah, it was fourth, don’t you remember, it was just yesterday, hours before we arrived-”

“No, it was definitely the third, you’re the one forgetting things, it’s-”

“I said fourth-” Arceus wanted to retaliate back, but he was met with six simultaneous glares that quelled him up.

“I was just about to stack together the sticks and wood when...” Rotrum began.

. . .

Rotrum put back down the sticks that he had been stacking and turned sharply behind. This time, he was sure that someone was watching him. He had passed off the brushing of leaves for the first and second time as normal, but when it happened again for the third time, and what’s more when there was no wind blowing, he concluded that it was neither his imagination nor the Mother Earth’s work.

“Who’s there?” He said sharply. Even if Rotrum has spoken slow, his voice was loud enough to be heard over the silence of the forest. He had not been expecting an answer, because which stalker would reveal himself to the person he was stalking anyway? Thus he was surprised to hear a voice answering him, “ ‘Tis I.”

And from behind a huge tree trunk a man stepped out. He was a lot taller than Rotrum, towering above him. His expression was unreadable. His hair, Rotrum noticed, black and shoulder-length, was swaying around even though there was no wind. Dramatic wind effect, Rotrum thought. It’s always there. Geez. This must be someone important; otherwise the effect won’t be there.

Rotrum took a few steps towards the man. Only then he registered who he was. “You! Why... How... What are you doing here?”

“To kill you.” Was the reply, accompanied with a peace gesture from the man, his index and middle finger clearly visible even in the poor light.

Rotrum swore he sweat-dropped before the man lunged, unsheathing his sword and threatening to slash Rotrum into two. Rotrum retaliated, drawing his zanpakto and the two swords clashed. Both combatants jumped back.

“Not bad for a kid,” the man exclaimed.

“I. Am. Not. A. Kid,” Rotrum said through clenched teeth, and struck again. Both seemed to be very expert in swordsmanship, delivering blows at each other and defending, while at the same time trying to gauge the opponent’s weak point.

“What’s wrong, Rotrum? Why aren’t you using me?” Yuki Senkou called out amidst the clashing of blades. Rotrum’s reply was short (“Can’t.”) as he parried a blow from the man on his right. He twirled his zanpakto around the man’s sword, and counter attacked. Rotrum thrust his zanpakto forward, scarring the man on his cheek.

“Why? Why not? Por que?” Yuki Senkou asked him as the man wiped off the thin trail of blood that leaked from the small cut.

Por que? Rotrum thought. His zanpakto has the weirdest of attitudes at the best of times, he swore. “We’ve fought him before. You should know.”

Realisation came to his zanpakto as the man’s strike finally went home; it hit Rotrum squarely on his left shoulder, who staggered backwards and fell. Rotrum cursed aloud in pain. “Damn.” His shinigami powers lost, he could not use flash step to efficiently battle. And Yuki Senkou, albeit having the ability to fire out ice, did not provide him with the speed burst it usually does in shikai mode. Effectively, Rotrum’s agility has been reduced to more than half, and since speed was his main style of battling, he could not battle with his full potential.

“Tch. This all you got? How boring. I don’t even feel the need to finish you off, you’re so pathetic.” The assailant hung his sword over his shoulder. All in all, it was a rash decision, because it left you open to the opponent, but since he thought Rotrum was already losing, he overlooked it.

Which was just the thin Rotrum needed. He thrust Yuki Senkou into the ground, and moments later, icy spikes erupted from the area around the man, who realised it only a bit too early. Jumping into the air, he pointed his sword downwards towards the ice, touching the huge spikes. “Seirei-” he began, but Rotrum cut across him, “Oh no you don’t.” Rotrum raised his zanpakto vertically, and the spikes snap shut, closing on the man like a trap. For a moment, it looked as if he was sandwiched between the spikes, but the next, the ice disappeared, and the man was standing on the ground, his sword glowing. “Soshaku. Oh yes I do. It seems like you know my abilities,” he paused for a moment. “Whatever. I’ll kill you with your own power.” And he grinned. His sword was still glowing, he ran forward and jumped. Rotrum tried to dodge, but the wound on his left shoulder suddenly smarted and he fell, cursing himself.

The instant the sword went down, it was enveloped by a thick current of swirling water. The blade slowed down, and stopped just inches from Rotrum’s head. The man looked up, and he saw Arceus standing behind Rotrum, his right hand was outstretched; the water seemed to be oozing out of the ring he wore on his middle finger, and clutching a rabbit on his left hand. “Hey,” Arceus called. “You’re just in time. We’re having dinner soon. Care to join?”

The man gawked. Did he just get an invitation to dinner?

“But attacking kids is a serious thing, man. Guess I can’t ask you to dinner after all, or he’ll be mad.” Arceus jerked his head towards Rotrum. The man shrugged, (Rotrum swore he saw the man sweat dropped) and jumped atop a branch, and disappeared seconds later. Rotrum sheathed his sword, and grumbled at Arceus, “You took your time.” Arceus merely stuck out his tongue. Half of the water cleaned the wound on Rotrum’s left shoulder and the other half went inside the rabbit, tearing it up and removing its innards.

Rotrum’s eyes widened. “You use the water for doing THAT?”

Arceus shrugged. “I do that every time, why?”

“So, it was... him?” NL asked.

“Yar. Couldn’t believe it myself at first, but from that absorbing technique, I guess it really was Eon. I would have a better fight if I get my speed back, though,” Rotrum answered.

“So that’s why you didn’t use my power,” Yuki Senkou interrupted. “I forgot that his zanpakto can absorb matter created from spirit energy, and that included my ice...”

“Yeah, you’d be hard pushed to fight Eon if your zanpakto is Kido based,” Golde chipped in. “I think the only ones who can easily counter him are Jin, Senny and ILPy, since they had non-Kido abilities. For others... They’ll have a rather hard time doing so. Well, melee attacks work too, so you should be able to counter him as well.” Golde jerked his head towards Luppi. “Not that I can’t beat him though,” he added as an afterthought.

“But he ran off when Arceus showed up? Why?” Luppi looked perplexed. “I mean, it wasn’t like my case, where it was clear that Kusari could not win with his fire elemental weapons, but Eon?”

“Hmm. I guess it was like my case,” Golde interrupted. “I mean, the girl, Mihara or whatever her name was, she could still fight me, Zam wasn’t in any state fit to battle at that time, but she still went off anyway.” He paused. “Well, that leaves only Jin missing. We’ll just have to wait for him, I guess.”

“And... After that?” Zameric asked.

“After that what?” Rotrum asked him back.

“What are you guys going to do?”

“Don’t worry, Zameric. Everything is taken care of. We have a plan...” Zachiru spoke for the first time that night. “Oh, that sounded so dramatic,” she added.

“Oh, you guys do? I thought we gathered here to find a plan?” Golde asked his zanpakto. “And that was nowhere near dramatic.”

Even though anyone could not see it, all of them could sense that Zachiru was death-glaring Golde. “No, we already have a plan. I’ll tell you when Jin gets here.”

(In case anyone was wondering, the ice attacks (spikes, then closing on the opponent) came from MAR, since I have been watching that recently... :P)

You're forgetting Zameric. His sword rain is technically part of his Zanpaktou, so I can't absorb it. It's the same story as with your water attacks.

Zanpaktou name: *Insert name for Scarface in Japanese here*

Type: Projectile

Manifestation: Somewhat resembles an Italian mob boss, but only in a white coat.

Appearance: It resembles a chrome plated Tommy gun, but the only difference is that there is a device mounted on its top that resembles (and is) a four-barrel carburetor. However, there are cylindrical cartridges mounted on its right and left that are filled with a neon red liquid that is the main components of the gun's bullets.

How it works: In its normal state, the bullets it fires are neon red and leave a red aura behind. When it hits the target it may inflame some of their internal organs (though chances of this are low) and whether it does or doesn't, it will always leave a second-degree burn on the place where it hit the target.

Shikai: (Watch this space! I'm workin' on it!)

Bankai: (What the Shikai says, it's under construction).

Ah, yes. And a very happy birthday to Golde!

First, I believe you'd have to also categorize it as Kido/Projectile, if not just Kido.
Second, I think it's sealed form should probably just be a sword (whether you want it to be a katana, wakizashi, or nodachi is up to you).

Well for now I will only comment on how we got a colored picture of Aizen's latest form in this chapter.
I was expecting him to have pale hollow skin like Hichigo and Ulquiorra. But his eyes certainly have changed. And his hair is the same color.
I'm still have no real idea what he even is. I'm still waiting for Kubo to explain Tosen. e.e

"What you want to protect and what I want to protect are 2 different things!" So a Zanpakutou and his Shinigami are more seperate than I thought, from what the filler arc made me believe.

So, I suppose that there is no "the spiritually aware will awake before all others" theory now.

Okay, in the Shikai, I can see an explanation is that you send your Zanpakutou into the fourth dimension, and can then use pull it back in whenever you want (think of it as though you are a cartoon on a piece of paper. You pull your sword OUT from the paper into our third dimension [where it doesn't exist in your dimension] and can then put it ANYWHERE on the paper you want to).
Though with the unlimited amount of swords you can bring in... My first thought is that you would need to use swords from other universes, which are also pulled through the fourth dimension.

As for you Bankai... I wouldn't say that "dimension" was the right word. It acts kind of like the Shadow Realm in YuGiOh, right? Like the whole dark cloud around them, and inside stuff happens.

And the filler arc is well, a filler arc. It wasn't directed by Kubo. So yeah, they can pretty much make anything up in the filler without affecting the canon story.

Well, I'm almost certain that Kubo drew the designs of all the zanpakutou spirits, and I would think that he has some involvement with the plot. Even if it's just "okay, here's the plot. What do you think?".

There was only silence, there had only ever been silence for a long time now, and then there was a trickle of water, a trickle of water which became a steady stream. Finally, the steady stream broke out into a torrent of running water which crashed down onto the base of a waterfall.

He opened his eyes, turning his head to gaze wistfully at the palace of this inner world, surrounded by a mist from the waterfall which flowed behind it. He knew his Zanpaktou Spirit was waiting in there for him; he turned his head the other way to see a water fountain with a miniature model of the temple in the middle, 3 fish swimming around it lazily, occasionally breaking the water’s surface.

He faced the sky again, which was just a pale expanse of nothing, mist clinging to everything, even the floor on which he lay.

He closed his eyes again, I’m coming home.

Captain Jinchuuriki wandered into his Division just as stealthily as he had left for the captain’s meeting; one did not become Captain of 2nd Division and not have some crucial habits as a consequence. Of course, his 5th Seat always knew when he had been missing, if it wasn’t for that fact he hadn’t mastered his shinigami powers yet, Jin would have made him Lieutenant a long time ago. He encountered said 5th Seat looking behind potted plants and under desks, as if you he was looking for…

“Cell, I’m over here…” Jin said exasperatedly, Cell always tried to find his Captain when he went ‘walk-a-bouts’ as Cell referred to them as, Jin called then Meetings.

“Oh, Hello, Captain” he bowed as a sign of respect, “I was wondering where you had-“

“Captains meeting, Cell, now I’d appreciate it if you could do me a favour”

“Yes, Captain?!” Cell, always eager to please, asked

“I need you to keep all of the other seated members, including my lieutenant, should he return, away from my office, is that understood?”

Cell saluted and dashed off down the corridor, no doubt straight into the training dojo, to warn the others of their impending deaths should they disturb the Captain.

All over Seireitei, the other captains were doing similar things, either telling subordinates not to disturb them until spoken to do otherwise or finding remote places in which to find peace.

Arceus the Third had strolled straight into his office, closed the door, then opened the door again to let an arm out and fix a sign on the outside of the door. It had six words on it and a smiley face.

Please don’t make me hurt you.

Flash Step had chosen to stand in the middle of his dojo and scream at the top of his lungs for him to be left alone.

Master Charizard had enveloped himself in a ring of fire out in 6th Divisions grounds, acting as an efficient deterrent for any shinigami, seated or not, with Sapphire, his lieutenant, glaring at anyone who came to close and telling them to go about their effing day quietly.

Master Eon, ever the harassed Captain of 7th Division with the newly appointed Lieutenant Vizard, who was currently tearing every seated officer a new one, decided not to say anything at all, leaving him to be the distraction he so dearly wanted at the moment, flash stepping to the grassy bank of a river not too far away.

Zameric had gone for a slightly more lengthy approach, telling his subordinates that he was not feeling his best and wished to converse with his Zanpaktou, effectively asking them to leave him alone until he had finished, thankfully, his seated officers were neither suicidal or stupid and took the hint.

Rotrum refused to do something so trivial as to explain his whereabouts to his officers, sitting cross legged on his Barracks roof, already in a state of deep meditation.

ILP, however, had gone back to his division’s lab and rummage through every single research report he had ever made on the bizarre substance, now known to contain a lethal virus. He found no clues as to an antidote of some kind, after all, how could there be an antidote to a sentient virus capable of draining a shinigami’s reiatsu to preserve its own life through blackmail? He settled himself on one of the Lab tables, concentrated hard; Zanpaktou laid out in front of him.

Kusari, who hesitated to mention that he had yet to master conversations with his Zanpaktou, locked himself in his office, and closed his eye, humming slightly, to bring himself in phase with his Zanpaktou.

Dauc was not one for panic, but from what Kida had told him of this current disaster, this virus would affect him as well, and he certainly did not want to die just yet, he had so many things to do, many Kida would probably not approve of.

Currently facing said moody Shinigami, lying sideways in the grass of the gardens, elbow on ground, palm propping up his head, he wondered what his Zanpaktou would say to all of this.

“So, we just connect with our Inner Worlds and then what?”

Kida’s ears twitched with irritation, she was already nervous about going back into her Inner World after what happened the last time, without Dauc trying to bugger it up, it wasn’t his fault of course, not that she’d admit that but she was incredible tense at the moment.

She growled.

“Alright, alright, we just go in and see if anything is out of the ordinary or see what our Zanpaktou’s have to say on the subject right?”

She gave him a nod, closing her eyes and concentrating, keeling over sideways a second later, causing disturbed pollen clouds to settle on her.

Dauc chuckled, lying on his back and closing his eyes as well.

Kida felt rather than saw where she was, the lake, or rather in the lake, of her inner world, she opened her eyes to see the light sun shining through the water above her, and she watched bubbles float upwards and burst as they reached the surface, she turned over to gaze at the bottom of the lake, which actually showed the cosmos, complete with stars, galaxies and the full moon. She turned sideways in this ethereal lake of the universe, to see the inverse of the cherry blossom tree above her, swimming towards it she could see it was still charred and brittle.

Then she saw a bright pink bud, just one, in the heart of the trees branches, a tiny little bud threatening to burst into full bloom, she smiled, reaching forward to stroke it as it gave out a wave of warm reiatsu.

A shadow swept over her, looking up she saw a figure distorted by the ripples of the water.

Dauc registered his presence in the middle of his Inner World to be the centre of the mansion, he scowled, usually he turned up somewhere on the first floor. Trekking through the many rooms, corridors and staircases he eventually found a lone ball of golden energy. Getting closer he saw the full structure of his Zanpaktou, bright gold colouring, black crown, staff and all.

“Well hello there, Chi Rinpa,” Dauc said quietly, expecting the wasp like Zanpaktou spirit to turn round at the sound of his voice, instead of looking out of the window.

“Good evening master,” it replied, not taking its eyes away from the scene outside the window.

Dauc knew what lay outside, so he didn’t bother to look himself, he probably should have done, instead he strolled down the next flight of steps and opened the back doors, entering Kida’s Inner World.

No-one knew they had linked Inner Worlds, which was probably a good thing, or Kida would never live down the teasing from fellow Captains. He had first noticed that the garden his Mansion opened out onto had another shinigami in it shortly after he first met Kida, of course back then, he hadn’t known her by name, only by her Experiment Number printed on the side of her cylindrical tank, suspending her in a cushioning gel like substance. Being just a 4th Seat at the time, however talented he may have been, he hadn’t dared ask questions about her, nor had he talked to anyone else about her ongoing presence in 12th Division bio weapons section, but he would often talk to her when no-one else was around, just about everyday things, anything and everything that came to mind, never expecting a reply.

He had walked out into the meadow with the cherry blossom tree lake only to see a female resembling the one in the tank. She was cupping her hands around a cherry blossom, a small light blue puppy at her feet, looking up at it too with large yellow eyes. He had tried to walk away without being heard, but the lupine ears had twitched in his direction, the girl turning her head slowly to face him, blue and black kimono shifting slightly in the breeze, she had smiled and then vanished.

He later found out that at the same time somewhere in Seireitei, a Shinigami by the name of Senbonzakura had achieved Bankai.

The next time he had walked into the room where she was being held, there was pandemonium, the cylinder tank had shattered and the female shinigami was standing in the middle of the room, eyes pitch black with claw like nails, forearms drenched in blood, with slashes over her black crop top and skort [A/N; Skort = Skirt and Shorts all in one, think Envy from FMA outfit]

Being a seated officer he had darted forwards to protect his, albeit worthless, Captain, stopping just short of her as her eyes returned to an unfocused blue, collapsing onto him out of shock and exhaustion. Coincidently, it seems, it wasn’t long after that until the Sotaicho heard about what had transpired within 12th Division destroying the programme and soon making Dauc Captain of 12th Division, the former Captain was never heard of again.

Dauc casually strolled out into the meadow, Chi Rinpa following behind him, buzzing the whole way, coming to a stop at the lake edge, where the familiar female shinigami, now established Captain was swimming around, she looked up at him, swimming up to the surface and climbing out onto the grass beside him. She suddenly felt rather cold.

Shuddering, she stood up and looked around, it was too still, where was the breeze, the grass did not rustle and the cherry blossom tree remained static, frozen.

As if the presence lying in wait registered her growing unease, it pounced, its initial target was pushed back into the water by Dauc as he sensed the oncoming threat, having it collide with him instead, a clawed hand fastened around his throat, he instinctively closed his eyes from his attacker. Chi Rinpa was indignant; no-body attacked his master and expected to get away with it, diving towards the intruder, the newcomer turned to face the Zanpaktou Spirit, long, sharp canines bared in a maniacal grin, it snapped its dark blue wolf tail at Chi Rinpa, thwacking it away to one side. His poison seemingly ineffective, he fell to the ground, or would have down had he not been cushioned by a light blue fully grown dragon wolf, splayed out on the grass unconscious behind them.

Dauc tried to pry the hand off his throat; it was difficult though when the intruder was currently resting on all fours on ones chest, further limiting his steadily reducing air supply.

It, or rather she, leaned down to whisper in his ear.

“Thank you for setting me free”

Then the figure and its mass weighing down on his lungs disappeared. He rolled over drawing oxygen into his lungs, plunging his arm into the lake and fastening his grip around fabric. He hefted Kida out of the lake and pulled her up onto the grass again.

“Ow ow ow ow ow,” Dauc had not grabbed fabric but in fact her ears, but at the moment he did much care, now rolling onto his back to stop his heart beating so fast. It was unnatural, he was never this scared, being a Captain he had many near death encounters, but why now of all times was his fight or flight instinct screaming at him to go for flight.

A small whimper to his left made him open his eyes and look over; Kida had Ryookami’s unconscious form in her lap, and she had picked up Chi Rinpa in her hands, delicately cradling him from further harm. Dauc nearly gave up on his brain completely; she hated wasps, why the sudden nurturing need. Then he remembered his attacker, as he painfully put two and two together, his attacker had seemed an awful lot like a ghost from their past, but what had Feral Kida meant by ‘setting her free?’ This didn’t make any sense and his head hurt too much.

It suddenly came crashing down upon him as he realised that going into their Inner worlds was a huge mistake.

“Our presence is setting them free.”

well it took four days but i got bored (and ran out of supernatural dvds to watch). so i'm giving up on my brake. and since i quit early the chapter will come later.

NL- i believe this is what you wanted.
the inner world of my zanpakuto is a lake in the clearing of a forest. there is a cliff parallel to the tree line. a waterfall flows off the cliff into the back of the lake. in the center of the water is a large rock that Oto is seen meditating on. though neither master nor spirit has traveled over the cliff, there is a dark pressure flowing from it and a shadow figure is sometimes seen looking off the bluff.

so yeah. chapter soon. VB's fight continues and the rest of you start your fights.

Seeing as how I don't remember any of the inner universes (besides, idk, mine and Jin's) I'll randomly guess that this is Senny's?
Which reminds me, perhaps we should put an inner world in our Zanpakutou descriptions? I think it would be quite a nice addition, for use in fanfics, as well as letting us know a bit more about the person.

Dauc tried to pry the hand off his throat; it was difficult though when the intruder was currently resting on all fours on ones chest, further limiting his steadily reducing air supply.

It, or rather she, leaned down to whisper in his ear.

It suddenly came crashing down upon him as he realised that going into their Inner worlds was a huge mistake.

“Our presence is setting them free.”

idr much from the past few chapters, but I think that the "thing" would be an embodiment of the virus? Or some kind of dark side of Ryookami/you. And it seems as though everyone or almost everyone (depending on if Da.c and you can stop some Captains before it's too late).

Well, the next chapter will definitely be quite interesting, to say the least.

Sup everyone....us to let you all know my birthday was on Thursday...and umm i havent watched any anime or manga lately because ive been in the field for a week ...thats why you guys havent heard from me.
