In Rukia's case, it was Aizen who gave out all the orders behind the name of the Central 46, and then again, her being sentenced to death was because Aizen wanted to extract the Hogyoku. But yes, your second point is valid. What would they do after 20,000 years? Set him free again?
...I'm still disturbed by the last goodbye scene. Why couldn't Ichigo see Rukia, when he could do so perfectly before, even without his shinigami power?

And as for that last part, perhaps Kubo confused shinigami powers with spiritual powers. Losing your spiritual powers would make more sense to me since there isn't much seperating shinigami from normal spirits.

That kinda depends on what you mean be "execs"...Each author has an editor, and if the editor doesn't spot the plothole, it's free to be published. The editor-in-chief doesn't take too much notice of storylines since he's got a bunch of other work to do. The higher up you go, the less you have to do with individual manga stories.

Mhm, losing spiritual powers would be a better phrase. I'm assuming Ichigo's ability to speak with/see ghosts/shinigami before is due to his father's power's influence on him (like before he was born or whatever), then using FGT kind of 'resets' him back to a normal person.

the surprise has to do with the next arc, but without giving spoilers. i'm surprised ILP hasn't tried to guess at who dies yet.
The only things i'm saying about the list: Golde is still evil, NL and Dac are on opposite sides and you and Akane are on the same side. also, you seem very excited about fighting on the same side as Akane.

Losing his Spiritual Powers would make a lot more sense.
Yes, Isshin lost his powers and became a normal person. This COULD mean that he was like Ichigo (a normal person who was transformed into a Shinigami). And the difference between a soul and a human... A soul, when on Earth, should have a chain from his/her chest. When they go to Soul Society, they shouldn't have the chain any longer, even if they go back to Earth (I'm basing this off of souls having chains when they die, and not having chains in Soul Society, and all of the shinigami that have gone to the real world without chains).
I don't think souls turn into humans when they lose their spiritual powers... A human has a physical body and stuff.
As for what Isshin is now... It might be Isshin's soul in a gigai. As for him... making an Ichigo, I'm guessing the body still works exactly the same (which is why people can be born in Soul Society).
And it COULD explain why Isshin and Ichigo's zans are similar... If it is a hereditary thing, perhaps we can see something similar to Senbonzakura with Byakuya's dad and grandad?

Ah, I see. I always thought of the execs to be a few people who read it to make sure everything flows right. If it's just the one editor, then yeah, I can see some plotholes going through.

"Jenk, I'm sorry." Zam muttered. The dust in his lungs made it hard to talk without coughing.
Jenk's gaze shifted to the man canopied under his arms. The next thing he knew, a blade entered his head, right between his eyes. "Uhhhhh." Jenk's eyes glazed over as his brain function ceased.
Zam collapsed on the ground where he stood. Rocks began to dislodge from the ceiling and fall towards him. Vello arrived just in time to pluck the unconcious reaper out of harm's way. Vello made his way towards the Body Garden.

"Damn it Zakei. You *******. You weren't supposed to release Grell without me." Coba yelled. Coba paced back and forth, pulling legs off some of the bodies.
Seijuro sealed and sheathed Garou. Coba seemed to be out of it and not interested in battle at the moment. Or so he thought. Coba flashed around and charged at Seijuro, kilij drawn.
The reaper re-drew his sword and charged right back. The hollow lost. He was bifurcated at the waist.
"Heh heh. Nice job." Little Cameron Blue laughed. "I see you've been learning from me." Akira slapped him in the back of the head. Both had seen the kill and were impressed.
"Why aren't you fighting someone, kid?" The captain responded.
"The guy I was fighting got attacked and eaten by a pack of Adjuchas."
Vello appeared next to Akira. Zam was thrown over his shoulder. Suddenly all reacted to two titanic surges in spirit energy.

"Yes. I can feel it!" Zakei cried. With the deaths of Brak, Jenk and Coba, his power was at an amazing level. The excess pressure poured out of his back in the form of white wings. "Die Schiffer." Why he started with the little one, not even he knew. He just want the ******* dead.
Zakei lunged and chopped down vertically. "Nooooo!" Eve shrieked, taking the cut instead. Zakei just laughed.
"It's power either way." The wicked man declared with confidence.
During his moment of arrogance, Kida struck at Zakei. He easily laid a kick into her stomach and sent her back to the ledge. Ryuu used Kida's attack as a distraction to launch his own attack.
Again Zakei easily stopped him with more dangerous results. Hayate was able to slash off Schiffer's right arm just below the shoulder. "Shiiiit!" The young captain yelled, attempting to stop the bleeding.
Out of nowhere, Vello dove at Zakei. This attack only gave Zakei more power. The evil man's power was at it's peak.
"Rise From the Ashes, Fenix!" A blinding light filled the room. Out of it came a man. Bone armor from head to toe. Talons on his hands and feet and large bone wings. Zoma's blue-green hair had turned jet black and grown to his waist. He lunged and spun with his claws out in front.
Hayate was hit on his blind side and sent flying. "Damn you Zoma!"
Zoma was on Zakei in a second. Zoma delivered a kick to the stomach and a set of talons to the face. "I'd actually prefer you call me Saiga Hayashi." The reaper was blown far back. Blue, Akira and the others finally showed up. All of the reapers, including a now concious Zam, formed a horseshoe shape around him.
Akira stayed back to heal a large gash on Hayashi's right side.
"Grell! Swat them like flies!" Zakei yelled. Paralyzed with fear none moved and most closed their eyes. Except Blue. He stood steely eyed and chest puffed out, ready to take death like a man.

Dauc, being chase by a pack of nine Gillians, ran back towards where he dropped Jordan. The squad six captain had just risen to his feet, when the ex-captain grabbed him by the collar.
"Where are we going?" Jordan asked.
"Right back the way we came. When I turn, you turn. We release and own some hollows." Dauc responded.
"Ok. Care to make a bet?"
"What's the bet?"
"Whoever kills more hollows is the manlier man and better reaper. You in?"
"Hell yeah. Turn...now!"
Both men spun to face the hollow army.
"Burn!" Jordan shouted.
"Show me what the world really is like!" Dauc laughed.

All opened their eyes at Grell's gutteral cry. Hayashi was pulling his spin move on Grell's palm. The others gave an astonished response.
Hayashi responded with a look of sincerity on his face. "I'll be taking this big guy out."
"********! Grell crush him!" The behemoth did as Zakei said. A tight fist clenched around his body. The hollow Hayashi just kept smiling. "Grell, swallow him!"
Exactly what I wanted you to do. With the thought Hayashi broke into a wide smile.
Kida saw this smile and she knew what it meant. He had a stupid plan. "Don't do it. You don't need to do it!" She pleaded. Her eyes showed pure terror. All their eyes did. No one wanted the next event to transpire.
"I have to do this." Hayashi said on the little breath he could get. "You guys are the closest thing I've ever had to a real family, so I'll give up my life to protect you." As if letting him finish the sentence Grell chuckled and swallowed Hayashi in one gulp.

Hayashi fell down Grell's esophagus. "The only sacrifice worth making, is the one that saves what is precious to you." He said it to himself. Someone used to say it to him, though it had been so long he couldn't remember who.
Memories began to flash through his mind as he fell into the stomach. His first day as a member of squad 3; running through the Rukongai with Akane; the day he was promoted to Lieutenant of squad 3; lazy afternoons sleeping his life away. Tears began to run down his face.
"I have to do it. For Blue, for Akane, for Zam and Seijuro, for Kida, for all of Soul Society. It's my duty as a captain." His tears fell like rain into the waist high stomach acid. "Blanca Infierno*."
Hayashi's body ignited in orange flame. The flames burned more intense and changed color as they did so. From orange to red, red to blue, blue to green and green to white. Once his body became entirely enveloped by the white fire, he screeched a hawk's call. The fire burst down both his outstretched arms and erupted over his head.

All the reapers look on in horror after Hayashi was swallowed. Zakei didn't move either. He was just as interested to see the plan as his enemies were.
When a loud hawk-like screech sounded, everyone's eyes darted for the source. Seconds after the cry, white fire exploded from Grell. The fire came out in the shape of a pheonix.
The behemoth's flaming body fell into the hordes of hollows he brought with him. Dauc and Jordan narrowly made it to the group before the explosion. Soon the fire spread, burning through all the hollows. Within only a few minutes the entire expanse would be on fire.

The former wicked man, was now crying and throwing a tantrum.
"Zakei, you're crying like a child, who just it's favorite toy taken away." Kida raised her sword to Zakei's neck. She pulled the sword back, and just before she began to swing Dauc stopped the sword.
"Kida don't. He wants to be around hollows so bad, we'll leave him here with no way to protect himself. Dauc kneeled down. He pried Zasshu from Zakei's grasp. Holding the insturment that could've caused a mass death, filled him with anger. Dauc took a few steps back. He took a running start at throwing the blade. It flew out into the burning white pyre.
Tens of thosands of corrupt human souls and the titanic parts of Grell that weren't destroyed in the sacrificial blast, fueled the raging flames. The only thought that ran through all their heads now: somewhere out in that flaming expanse, a hero's body was burning to ash.
"You guys coming?" Seijuro's voice was low. Jordan had opened a Garganta. Seijuro chose not to go through until Kida and Dauc were ready.
"You ready?" Dauc asked softly. His arm was around her shoulders, not just to help comfort her but because he was afraid Zakei would try one last ditch move.
Kida responded yes in a low whisper. His last words kept ringing through her head: "you guys are the closest thing I've ever had to a real family, so I'll give up my life to protect you."
They walked to and through the portal slowly. The next few days were going to be hell.

An excerpt from Chapter #1 of the next arc.

It had been a week since Hayashi's funeral. Many of those involved with the mission were having trouble dealing with the loss of the man they went to Hueco to save.
Kida had it the worst. She still blamed herself for him being kidnapped in the first place. This was the first night in three days that she had gotten any sleep. The sleep was of very low quality though. She was plagued by a nightmare. This was the first occurance of this nightmare. What she didn't know was that all across the Seireitei, anyone involved with the mission, or Hayashi in general, was having the same nightmare that night. She didn't know what the symbolism of it was.

Kida was underwater. She swam up for the night sky of her spirit world. She broke the surface and gasped for air. She pulled herself out, normally she would have had help with that, with a bit of difficulty.
She looked all around from where she was sitting. Ryookami was nowhere to be seen. She thought she heard a sound coming from somewhere. "Hello." She called. "Ryookami, is that you?"
She walked around the soft hills and flat lands. The sky was clear and the moonlight provided excellent ambiance for a nice stroll. Then something caught her eye. A dark mound that was shaped, for the most part, like the dragon-wolf zanpakuto spirit of hers.
"There you are." She said running over. The spirit didn't budge. "Hello?" Kida called shaking the spirit. She rolled it over finding a bloody puncture wound on it's underside. The spirit was dead.
A spectral neighing came from behind her. She turned and saw a horse. A thin, pale, creme colored horse. Atop the horse sat a man in a black cloak. He turned his head to face her. She saw nothing but furious, burning red eyes. The right hand slid from the cloak. It gripped a rusted, bloody hand sickle. The horse let out it's spectral neigh again.
Kida's first instinct was to run. She ran. Looking back she reliezed the rider wasn't following. A sound of thunder ran through the world. She looked up but the sky was clear. She looked back, the thunder was the horses hooves pounding the ground. The huge lead she had suddenly disappeared as the being came right up behind her. The next sensation she felt was the sickle stabbing into the right side of her chest.

Kida jerked awake in her bed. Her hand instinctivly shot to the right side of her chest. There was no evidence that a weapon had ever penetrated her chest.
As if by a cruel twist of fate, Katsu, a seated officer in squad 13, showed up outside her room. The captain sighed. "What is it?"
"I was told to tell you that an Unsub..."
"Unwhat?" Kida responded.
"An Unsub is short for unknown subject. There is an Unsub currently engaged in battle with Jidanbo of the West Gate. The Unsub is overwhelming Jidanbo with hand-to-hand combat alone. Captains Schiffer and Blue are waiting just inside, incase the subject makes it in. The Head Captain wants everyone to be on their guard. We only know of the subject's hand-to-hand skills but know nothing of sword or kido ability. And then there's the fact that his hand-to-hand is a style we've never seen before and..."
"Katsu." Kida said pulling her haori on. "I've got the gist of it. Go back to your barracks."
How could things get any worse? First nightmares about horses and then Unsubs.

"Who...who...who are you?" The giant studdard out. Jidanbo, 32 feet tall was bested by a six foot man in hand-to-hand, looked at the cloaked figure before him.
The stranger's eyes burned red as he answered, "Apachu**."

Whaddaya want us to call you? Hollowfication is a bit too long of a name to type. You'd better specify quick, or else the other members will make up their own name for you, and once we get a particular name, we usually stick with that, so yeah.

If the opponent comes in contact with the blade at all during release a rush of immeasurable pain surges through the body driving the opponent insane if not well trained I.E. weak souls and most Adjuchas level hollows.

so that's the only specifics.

i like this zan. it's cool in a nostalgic portayl of death kinda way.
i decided to answer quotes in a seperate post from the chap. now about the chap. if it seems a little odd, it's because that's the second time I wrote it. the first time right before i posted it i screwed something up and it got deleted. so i had to write it from memory of the first time.

...Your zanpakutou's name...it's a sentence...and a slightly broken one at that...If you'd like, I could suggest a more name-y name for your zanpakutou.
