Somewhere along the lines, all the decades align
(Yep. Owl City.)
(Twelfth Squad labs, Unknown Time)
Its ALIVE! She called out, almost alone in the dark chamber she had sealed herself in. Next to her was a green-haired woman dressed in green clothing, and in front of the two was a long table with a kid laying on it-A 54 teen.
Good Job Lemon-Sama. Lamia said, brushing her green hair from her face as they gazed upon the other.
We did it Lamia, the perfect bioroid. Model I.L.P. My masterpiece. Awaken. Henceforth your name shall be Ryuu Schiffer. Codename I.L.P.
_______
(Sereitei, Unknown time)
The blood red moon let off a dull glow, coating the city in its bloody essence while maintaining a certain darkness. But this night was no time for sleeping. This night. Was a time for death. The majority of Sereitei was destroyed and the rest of it was under quite likely to be next. The destruction clearly began in the center, and it was spiraling all throughout the Soul Society.
In the exact middle of the Sereitei, stood the Captain of the Special Tactical Assassination squad, Bahamut. Once known as Aleph. Once upon a time.
Several small trails of ruin spread from the center of the Sereitei, at the end of each one was a captain. A captain defeated. There were only four of these lines at the moment. But in the center. Lied the bodies of hundreds of shinigami. Almost all of them, infact.
Why this change of heart
asked Jordan angrily, his body beaten, his Zanpakutou returned into its sealed state. He couldnt walk. He was kneeling with his sword as a weak sort of support system. A miniature Iroriryuu stood in front of Jordan, breathing out weak embers in an attempt to stop Aleph from coming any nearer.
Good bye now. Aleph smiled as he kicked Iroriryuu into Jordan-propelling him straight to the outer wall of the Sereitei. And that makes Jordan, Jin, Dauc, and Kusari. Which captain shall go down next?
The other captains stood silently in the ruins, they hadnt interfered. It was a one on one at a time fight. An unspoken rule of sorts. Death itself lingered in the air as Cameron whispered. Im sorry. Kokuchouyaku Senshu.
Instantly bullets of the most pitch black material one could ever see attacked the water-coated shinigami in one fell swoop. Aleph
no matter how thick your armor is, I only have to pierce it! His blade became pitch black, barely visible in the blood-drenched light, and grew large and long. Before the bullets even stopped striking, his rushed forward and stabbed into Aleph with all his might.
His blade broke as water quickly covered him. The water became blood red, but the cracks of the water pressure affecting his body could be heard even through the water. Even the most stoic captain cringed. The contents of the water were quickly ejected in another direction. No one dared look in that direction.
I see. The Kido Corps Captain, The Third Captain, and the captain Commander are missing. Youre all small fries to me. He yawned and shunpod towards an apparently small metal building as all the remaining captains fled, tears streaming down their cheeks as they prepared to regroup. Yet another battle lost, with so many casualties. It appeared the end was near.

(Twelfth Squad Laboratory #13, Unknown time)
Beep. Beep. Beep.
Twelfth Captain Ryuu Schiffer blinked awake from his groggy and half-awake state. He didnt know what time it was. He knew he had fallen asleep sometime in his office. How exactly did he know? He was still in his office. He groaned bitterly as he looked around his office. The room was dark and only the dimmest of lights filtered through his window. His desk was messily full of papers, ideas, folders, drawings. On the side of the mess in a clear folder was a series of papers. He stopped moving and just stared at these papers for a moment.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
He pulled them out with clearly dead hands, slowly and carefully. The cover pages were made up of an essay, The Weaponry Revolution, by Narcisse Dauc. The next pages were some sketches by Dauc. The first sketch was of lightweight battle armor. It was equipped with motors that enhanced the movements of the wielder as well as a system of reiatsu conductors that allowed the user to manipulate pure reiatsu, Sistema R. The second sketch was a very thick and heavy armor, which relied on internal weapons, specifically small light refractors (LAZORZ,) as well as large shoulder-mounted, partially-solar powered, Hi-Zol Cannons. The last one was equipped with wings. Large metal wings. Complete with guns, bombs, shields, a laser reflection system, and remotely-controlled Strike Shields. This set-up was all controlled by Sistema URANUS, a highly mental and reiatsu-straining system. All of these were highly reiatsu and mentally straining on the user. At the top of each design was a stamp. A stamp that said disapproved.
The next several papers were different designs. The first was of lightweight battle armor that would man a hoverboard-type piece of equipment. The hoverboard was where all the weapons were. A medium-sized version of the Gravity Cannon equipped on the Sereiteis first Interdimensional-Ship (To Earth we go! With cargo!) was mounted on the board. As well as several turrets. The next was a heavy armor with shoulder mounted Heavy Claymores and a massive Revolving Bunker attached to its arm. A weak prototype anti-gravity device had to be equipped for it to even move. Lastly, there was an incredibly lightweight armor equipped with powerful jets and only powerful rifle. All by Ryuu Schiffer.
My last legacy
He murmured quietly to himself. Maybe they were denied as well as Daucs for a reason
Beep. Beep. Beep.
The two series of weapons/armor are virtual opposites of one another. Three require the utmost reiatsu control in order to work all the systems in conjunction with the battlefield. The other three rely entirely on the mechanical feedback system, where the machines are reacting to the movements of the person. The designs, in essence, were very similar, but their weaponry was completely opposite. From long range to close range, vice-versa, and from owning a battlefield to sniping out a single opponent.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
He finally woke up. He disregarded the remaining papers.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
A triple-A class alarm? No, even higher. He reached for the intercom button. Status?
Anomalies in Sectors L4, H3, M2, and K9. Came the reply, all areas outside of the Rukongai by several miles.
What KIND of anomalies? Ryuu asked, a hint of skepticism in his voice.
There are gravitational, Spatial, and minor temporal distortions in those areas. The voice said, urgent.
Send probes to examine. We dont know what were dealing with.
Yes sir The lone night-shift guard who was still awake replied.
It was Ryuus job to check up on this. But it was night time. And he was sleepy. Therefore. He slept.
One week later the night-shift guard would be declared missing. Three months after that Ryuu would realize those drones were never sent. It would be too late then.
_______
(One Month Later. Captains Meeting Hall)
Ive been discussing with Ryuu about the disappearances of shinigami. We have made a joint movement to use a revised version of Ex-captain Narcisse Daucs Experimental Weapons Project. Although previously, this has been denied, it is within our belief that the only way to track down the source of these disappearances is by sending out shinigami armed with and trained with technology rather than Zanpakutou. Magnus said, the voice of a true leader making itself known.
For this motion to pass (A/N: I felt parliamentary when I wrote this. Yet I know nothing about the Parliament. Go figure) someone must second the movement and the remaining Seven out of Nine must approve the idea. I will make the final decision when all is said and done. Golde intoned neutrally.
With that said, the remaining nine captains went up to the table and began to examine the designs that were placed upon the table for them to see. Magnus was relaxed, calm, collected. Ryuu was shivering in a corner. Golde was eating a rather large (And out of season) Marshmallow rabbit
________
(Modern Day. Unknown Coordinates, Earth.)
Two figures stood slowly in the empty plains, grass waving in the rough breeze. The sky was clear and the bright sun gave promise to a happy world. The two figures werent so positive. In front of them were two stranger figures. One of them, a white tiger, the other a blue Chinese dragon. Out of the ordinary, at the very least. Clouds slowly began covering the sky, coming from an unknown source, as lightning streaked and thw winds picked up.
Found you. A kid, around fourteen at the oldest, yawned. In his hand was a Nintendo 3DS. He wore simple clothing, a T-shirt and cargoes.
The beasts backed up as the weather worsened. A girl, maybe seventeen, yawned. Lets get this over with. She said, getting herself into a fighting position.
Lightning crashed upon the two as a tornado began spinning around them
________
(Captains Meeting Hall. Continued.)
I see, A unanimous decision. Golde muttered, there goes clinging onto the old ways. Maybe theyre just bad with technogloy
he said under his breath as the captains all anonymously voted.
Magnus just smirked as if he had known all alone with Ryuu got out of his corner and sighed in relief.
I suppose I can do nothing other than approve your plea (What terminology did I just switch to?) Golde sighed. He snapped his fingers as Goldes Captain Commander Seal of Approval, a reiatsu-charged lightning bolt, suddenly appeared at the top of each paper. An amused tone suddenly entered Goldes voice, Whoever can lead a team of normal shinigami fighting and training for the same purpose as those in the EW project and surpass the resulting team will get a reward. Only one of you may be the leader. Cameron promptly pushed every one else out of his way and forcibly volunteered to lead the team.
And so begins the EWX and OTX teams.
______
(Later that evening)
Now, you all (Were forcibly) volunteered to join the OTX team. Saph, Cell, Erin. Lets get to training, shall we? Cameron cracked a whip.
Erin darted behind Saph, who jumped behind Cell, who rolled up into a little ball. Cameron sighed, This is gonna be a looong day
---Meanwhile---
Okay, before you get your hands on any weapons or armor, you need to get used to the weight and the weapons systems. Magnus stated, looking at the lined up Kai, Gira, and Min.
But sir, Im strapped to the ground with tons of weight. Gira sighed.
Sir, this weight is nothing
in fact the booster currently has me upside-down
Min said, struggling to control the physically responsive equipment, every movement she made was counterbalanced and surpassed. She was used to standing up. Somehow, she ended up upside down. She attempted to correct herself by using her temporary rifle as an oar. She ended up oaring Gira-not that he noticed under the weight.
These weights are light. And I love this~ Kai smiled, waving the Chakram over his head like a rope in one hand and taking potshots at the wall with the other.
Magnus sat down and sighed. Ill be locking you in here for three hours to get used to the weights. Bye. He promptly got up, walked out of the door, and locked said door with an audible Click.
---Never said they began smoothly.---
