Mudkip, as I love Swampert. On Sapphire I chose Torchic, though.

Way back when I got my first copy of Ruby I chose Treecko, despite everyone else in my circle of friends choosing Torchic.

I'll admit I've played through Emerald a couple of times with a Torchic, but originally, way back when the 3rd gen was introduced, Treecko was my main man

I chose Treecko on my first-ever Hoenn game.

Treecko's still my favorite of the three, but all of Hoenn's starters are positively excellent.

I have all three games, so I used a different starter on each one, to make sure I had a chance to use all of them:

Ruby: Mudkip

Sapphire: Treeko

Emerald: Torchic

I started with Mudkip. At first I chose it because it looked the coolest, and now I pick it because it was my first "conscious" Pokemon choice (because I'd chosen Totodile in Silver and it was as a little kid who was just randomly pressing buttons). It also happens to be a beast of a Pokemon.

In order of when I started playing each:

Sapphire: Treecko
Ruby: Torchic
Emerald: Mudkip

I voted for Treecko because Sapphire is the main version I play.

I restarted the game a ton of times. The first time I chose treecko, however most times I chose mudkip because he is my favorite. I only chose Torchic when i wanted to do a speedy run through the game.

i chose mudkip. He's still my favourite starter out of them all. Always has been. And almost deffinitly always will be.

Treecko, he was the strongest and fastest out of all of them (partly due to EVs) and was just the best of the generation.

Whenever I play through the 3rd generation games I always pick Torchic.

Mudkip. Simply because I have 2 other cousins and we all got Sapphire/Ruby. It was agreed upon that my older cousin gets to get Torchic, I got to then pick between Mudkip and Treecko so I chose Mudkip, and then my younger cousin was just stuck with Treecko LOL. I don't know why we wanted to pick our starters that way but that's how we did it.

But then later playing in the game, I would alternate between Mudkip and Torchic every time I restarted. My first starter in Emerald was Torchic, but then by like the 2nd or 3rd gym, my stepbrother traded me a Mudkip anyways so I had both Mudkip and Torchic in my team. I've never played the game with Treecko before at all.

I decided to restart my Emerald (since I'm playing as one of my OC characters) and got Mudkip, just like when I got it in Sapphire.

When I battled with Mudkip, it reminded me of the times of when I started out with my "first" third generation Pokemon.
