Yeah, I do not think they would change the starter types, plus I dont even want them to change them. Grass, Fire, and Water are good starter types IMO.

Well what I meant with that, is that I personally prefer the grass, fire, and water types, but if they would change it for one of the 3rd games, I would be fine with it. I do admit said it kinda confusing. I'll agree with you on the Yellow part though.

Grass is one of three Pokémon types that could easily be used to represent the classical element of "earth", the other two being Rock and Ground. All of them are different parts of what you might call "earth".

Hooray for the Grass/Water/Fire combo we'll get next generation.
You can't really call any type physical since physical or special are now decided by the attack itself, regardless of type.

Anyways, it's unlikely that the Grass/Fire/Water core will change but we might see some surprising secondary typings, since DP started this trend. GF gave the DP starters secondary typings so that they could have an advantage on the starter against which they had a type weakness (although Empoleon w/o Ice Beam loses out to both anyway), so perhaps second types should be expected.

I could be seen like that, but he said the elements of earth so in which grass isnt one of them.

As I'm sure you've guessed, "Grass" stands in for the classical element of "earth" as far as the starter trio typing is concerned, particularly since there's no such thing as an "Earth-type".

I think Ground is supposed to be "earth-type"

    ...

And again, given that they can't put the Ground-type in a trio with Fire and Water, the Grass-type is a more than capable stand-in to represent "earth", particularly since the classical element represented not just the ground itself, but the plants and trees that grew from it as well.

If grass grows on earth which it does it is considered an element of earth.

Do you really think that would be awesome? You shouldn't. It would suck big time. I don't understand why everyone sings the praises of pretty much the same Pokemon redesigned for each generation. If I have to see another overpowered Dragon-type with a massive weakness to Ice, I'm gonna freak out. I want to slap every noob in the mouth who runs dragons when all they do is cry about being taken down by something as simple as Ice Beam.

Oh, sorry I misunderstood you. You're right in that sense, in the traditional Fire/Grass/Water trio, Grass is the only thing that comes remotely close to resembling the "Earth" element.

First let's get this straight I'm no noob. Second I think Dragons are cool and to see them as starters would be awesome. This is my opinion and just because you don't agree with me, doesn't mean you have the right to go bashing other people's ideas. They're not my favorite type but I like them. Also the only starter that would have a 4x weakness to ice would be a grass/dragon. Also if you bothered at all to read all my posts you would've known that I do like starters the way they are, and don't want it to change. I just thought the other ideas was good as well.

Charmander, Totodile, and Treeko as starters in a game is probally as close as we are going to get to all dragon starters.

I would like to see a new type combination.

It probably won't change however seeing as Pokemon is a formula.

^^That's not a balanced trinity of types because Dark is immune to Psychic, and doesn't resist it like it should. With Fire/steel, it doesn't get the advantage against grass as much as it should.

It can probably learn a move good against grass/fighting (Aerial Ace, HP flying).

That would be horribly imbalanced since the Fighting is super effective against dark and steel.

Wouldn't that ultimatly put the grass starter at a very big disadvantage?

I don't think anyone has said:
    Ground / Poison / Grass

That is another group that fits.
