Which element would you rather have in a serious survival situation?

I'm stuck on Waterbending and Earth Bending.
Earthbending can be used to create shelter, fire (friction), can be used to hunt, gather water in rock jugs, can be used to create a crude Water purification system, etc, etc.

Heldigunner - your request for that debate only reminds me of this little Avatar short off of the Book 2 DVD set.

As for the topic and his request of a debate, I think I might answer both separately based on my 2 separate answers. As for which is the best, I'd have to say water. It's useful in many situations, and as seen throughout the show, it can be extremely powerful if used correctly.

Which element would you rather have in a serious survival situation?
I'd rather have the ability to air bend to be honest. That was I could fly out of there if it got really bad (assuming I had a glider). Or, on the same idea of flying, if I was somewhere remote I could look for food below me. The force of the wind could also knock back an enemy without harming him too much. In the desert if there was a fight, using wind to make a sandstorm could be handy.

I think that it depends on the location, in a dessert Air would be best, while in the sea water is the best, and Fire is really usefull on a pole. But in the mountains, I would go for earth.

Could you not use Firebending to kill the animals, and cook them? And I'm pretty sure whipping up a fire storm would be a pretty good distraction for a get away too...

I can see how Waterbending would absolutely be the most handy in a desert, without a doubt. But you can use Firebending in the island/jungle to purify dirty/saltwater as well, and as I said above, it itself is a hunting/cooking tool.

You guys gotta look at it from all angles

Fire! The most dangerous of all, by my opinion. Can chase away wild animals with it, because animals are afraid of fire. So fire for me!

Can I join the club as the Fire Nation? Fire, as my second favorite Pokčmon type, is a symbolic element for me. It matches my personality, destructive when provoked.

Ok, fine, mainly because Zuko's fire nation.

I just want this to be a thought out debate." Not, fire is the best because is cool." Think out side the box to defend your argument. But be nice to other peoples opinion.
    Here ya go. Enjoy.

Which element would you rather have in a serious survival situation?

Waterbending - You can pull water out off almost anything. Keeps you hydrated, one of the top rules of survival. Pulling out the water makes things dry and easier to ignite. Then you can freeze that water to make a magnifying glass type apparatus to focus the sunlight on to your tinder bundle. And ice can be a handy knife/weapon. And if one is a healer, could probably heal most wounds.

Airbending - You can air scooter around, covering further distances while conserving energy. On a hot, humid day you can circulate air to keep you cool. If you find enough materials, you can MacGuyver a glider and fly for greater visual range and faster recovery. Or if you're trapped on a desert island you could airbend air into a raft sail

Firebending - Keeps your body warm in the cold and lights the dark. Great weapon, great way to leave signs/warnings/smoke signals for animals and humans to spot. Great for cooking food and boiling water.

Earthbending - If I recall right, Toph could use Earthbending to "run" faster. So it could function like the air scooter, and cover vast distances. Could be possibly used to make fire, and can be used to make a really really good shelter. And when push comes to shove, a great weapon. And in big open space, you could earthbend arrows and signs to signify your traveling direction. You could use it in a forest but you have to destroy nature.

Each element has its uses, but I'll go with water. Almost solely based on water retrieval and purification. Staying hydrated and diarrhea free would be my top priority.

Vali - Of course! I'm sure TM will gladly add you to the list. Just make sure you read the rules! Zuko is pretty awesome, so I can see why you chose that nation. (Out of curiosity, what's your first favorite type?)

Rex - Look up, haha. Same link I posted there. Excepttt yours is in HD. Ah well! In any case, I'm impressed with all the thought put into this topic. Nice way to point out the different aspects of all the elements, like what TM said.

By the way, just to make it clear to people who don`t understand my activeness, I post on weekends and fridays. I`ll post tommorow too, since it`s an holiday. Ě will also post sometimes on thursdays when I won`t have college the next day. I started college 2 weeks ago and with my mom it was always no computer during the week, only weekends. But since college requires me some works on the Internet, I`m a bit free. It will be very rare if I post during the week. Now you know!

The video that been posted it actually where the idea came from.

Rex, you did what I was hoping others would do. Explained the positives of each element in a specific situation, did some comparison between elements. Finally, came to a final conclusion.

I should have reworded the original debate question. Making it a little more understandable.

Thebluekid: It's Grass, Meganium and Venusaur are my two favorite Pokemon.
Which element would you rather have in a serious survival situation?
If, and only if I was a healer, Waterbending. Purifying water for drinking is pretty useful, and healing various cuts/burns would be handy. If I was not a healer, Firebending would be best for starting fires and being able to kill things in a snap.

I hate to change the subject abruptly, especially to this topic, but check my blog in my sig. I just updated it with my review on that heretical, treacherous, blasphemous film. Some of you might like my review.

Thanks, like I said before I watch too much survival shows. I would of done the negative stuff, but I felt like my post was long enough and I was lazy.

Which element would you rather have in a serious survival situation?

Earth, for many reasons one if I need to hurt or kill something rock shards. If I need water I could bend earth up in a bowl from deep underground and underground there is water. As for shelter rock shelter. And for cooking and staying warm and purifying water I could bend up some flint and use that to start a fire.
If you believe in Jesus Christ put this in your profile and don't just ignore this, because in the Bible it says, ‘If you deny me, I will deny you in front of my Father in the gates of Heaven.

    I have returned

Uhmm... could everyone who is interested in the rpg send a PM to me? I guess that most of the TLA fans are here :3 also, add if you're interested in helping making the plot and such. I have an idea for a new topic, since most members already answered to the last one:

What element is the most destructive one?
Personally I'd say Earth, since it can destroy most building with shaking the earth and such, though fire is almost pure destruction. And with water it's the tsunami that can wipe out complete settlements. For air, I think the word hurricane says enough.

So what are your thoughts? And please PM me if you're interested.

Well, I don't think I could pick just one. They all have their destructive sides. If I had to say one, probably Earth, since you can basically crush everything with it.

Earth. With earthquakes, fissures, and rock slides you can do with it.

Which element would you rather have in a serious survival situation?
I'm going to have to go with air. Because unless you're in space, you have air. You could use it to zoom to your recourses, and that's always nice. Along with blowing away opponents.

What element is the most destructive one?
I'm going to have to go with Earth aswell. Since most cities are built on land, they would be easily inflicted with earthbending.
