    Default vs. Ohheysup (01/16/2010)

This is a random battle against Ohheysup. With his permission, I was able to reproduce this to the public eye. I have so many great battles but I was either denied permission to make warstories out of them or they left before I could ask. This battle was an interesting one. Mainly because my opponent never battled against certain Pokemon on my team before. I definitely had the element of surprise here but he had the annoyer. You'll see what I mean...

Read this through and post if you have questions about what happened. I'll answer any questions about why I did certain things and I'll try to explain why he did certain things. Comments in bold purple.

    elephantdog’s team:
    Ohheysup’s team:

    Ohheysup sent out Swampert.
    elephantdog sent out Ledian.

    vs.
    Ledian – 100%
    Swampert – 100%

Another Swampert lead. Ledian always outrun Swampert so two things can happen:
    1. The most common thing is Stealth Rock is going to come first so I can Knock Off his Leftovers on turn 1 and Encore his Stealth Rock after.
    2. He will use Ice Beam which isn't really a smart move but will screw my team up.

    Ledian used Knock Off.
Swampert lost 1% of its health.
Ledian knocked off foe Swampert's Leftovers!
    Swampert used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around the foe's team!

    vs.
    Ledian – 100%
    Swampert – 99%

Wooo! This is going according to plan! No point on switching out Ledian. It'll die to Stealth Rock coming back in. Time to Encore and then Bug Buzz Swampert to death!

    Ledian used Encore.
    Swampert got an encore!
    Swampert used Stealth Rock.
    But it failed!

    vs.
    Ledian – 100%
    Swampert – 99% (Encored)

Get scared Swampert! Will he switch or will he stay and take the hits?

    Ohheysup switched in Celebi.
    Ledian used Bug Buzz.
    It's super effective!
Celebi lost 90% of its health.
Celebi's leftovers restored its health a little!
Celebi restored 6% of its health.

    vs.
    Ledian – 100%
    Celebi – 16%

Wow...he's going to regret that. He probably thought Ledian is all defense. If that was Azelf, it'd faint by now.

    Ohheysup switched in Heatran.
    Ledian used Bug Buzz.
    It's not very effective...
Heatran lost 5% of its health.
Heatran's leftovers restored its health a little!
Heatran restored 5% of its health.

    vs.
    Ledian – 100%
    Heatran – 100%

ouch...bad prediction right there. Ledian isn't going to last any longer. The only thing is to ruin this guy's held item.

    Ledian used Knock Off.
    It's not very effective...
    A critical hit!
Heatran lost 2% of its health.
Ledian knocked off foe Heatran's Leftovers!
    Heatran used Lava Plume.
    It's super effective!
Ledian lost 100% of its health.
    elephantdog's Ledian fainted.

    vs.
    Ledian – FAINT
    Heatran – 98%

Good job, Ledian. Proud of ya. What to take on Heatran? If I send out Mamoswine, Heatran would predict Earthquake and switch in a Flying type. BUT he see me predicting that and keep in Heatran while Mamoswine uses Ice Shard that does nil damage. What to do? How about Girafarig? Not many people expect Girafarig to use Earthquake so I'll surprise this guy.

    elephantdog switched in Girafarig.
    Pointed stones dug into Girafarig.
Girafarig lost 12% of its health.
    Girafarig used Earthquake.
    It's super effective!
Heatran lost 90% of its health.
    Heatran used Lava Plume.
Girafarig lost 74% of its health.

    vs.
    Girafarig – 14%
    Heatran – 8%

ouch...Girafarig isn't going to last much longer...If there's a Blissey in that party, I'm screwed.

    Ohheysup switched in Swampert.
    Girafarig used Earthquake.
Swampert lost 16% of its health.

    vs.
    Girafarig – 14%

That did less than I thought...

    Girafarig used Earthquake.
Swampert lost 17% of its health.
    Swampert used Ice Beam.
Girafarig lost 13% of its health.
    elephantdog's Girafarig fainted.

    vs.
    Girafarig – FAINT
    Swampert – 66%

I wish I could show more of Girafarig's power but things don't always work so well...What to take out Swampert with? How about Gastrodon? One-on-one, no Swampert has never defeated my Gastrodon. You'll see how indestructible this guy is to non-Grass attacks.

    elephantdog switched in Gastrodon.
    Pointed stones dug into Gastrodon.
Gastrodon lost 6% of its health.
    Swampert used Protect.
    Swampert protected itself!

Gastrodon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Gastrodon restored 6% of its health.

    vs.
    Gastrodon – 100%
    Swampert – 66%

Gotta love Stockpile Gastrodon. I hope he doesn't switch in Celebi.

    Ohheysup switched in Celebi.

    Gastrodon's defence was raised.

Celebi restored 6% of its health.

    vs.
    Gastrodon – 100%
    Celebi – 22%

Oh crap...these are the times I wish I have Ice Beam on Gastrodon. I still rather keep to my Stockpile Gastrodon set.

    elephantdog switched in Togekiss.
    Pointed stones dug into Togekiss.
Togekiss lost 25% of its health.
    Celebi used Recover.

Togekiss restored 6% of its health.
Celebi's leftovers restored its health a little!
Celebi restored 6% of its health.

    vs.
    Togekiss – 81%
    Celebi – 78%

D= Ledian's 90% damage on Celebi is like gone down the drain!

    Ohheysup switched in Swampert.
    Togekiss used Air Slash.
Swampert lost 30% of its health.
Togekiss's leftovers restored its health a little!
Togekiss restored 6% of its health.

    vs.
    Togekiss – 87%
    Swampert – 36%

Swampert is going to Ice Beam. Togekiss can handle that.

    Togekiss used Nasty Plot.
Togekiss's special attack was sharply raised.
    Swampert used Ice Beam.

Togekiss's leftovers restored its health a little!
Togekiss restored 6% of its health.

    vs.
    Togekiss – 34%
    Scizor – FAINT

I'd think that Bullet Punch would hurt Togekiss more. Not many Togekisses run with Heat Wave but I feel it's useful on my team.
    NEXT!

    Ohheysup switched in Rotom-w.
    Togekiss used Heat Wave.
Rotom-w lost 53% of its health.

    vs.

    Rotom (Wash) – 53%

Haha! Rotom is gonna go down with the next Heat Wave. Togekiss is Special so Burn isn't going to hurt as much as if it burned Girafarig.

    Togekiss used Heat Wave.
    Togekiss's attack missed!
    Rotom-w used Discharge.
    It's super effective!

23% health left. That means Jolteon will last no more than 3 turns (I don't think he's going to use an Electric move again). Let's see if I can take out his last guy in 3 turns...

    Ohheysup switched in Lucario.
    Lucario used Vacuum Wave.
Jolteon lost 23% of its health.

Gastrodon restored 6% of its health.

    vs.
    Gastrodon – 68%
    Lucario – 40%

All this guy can do is hope that Lucario will 0hko Gastrodon with a critical hit. Even so, I can probably beat him with Mamoswine. Unless Lucario gets a critical next turn, Gastrodon will use Earth Power to end this game.

    Lucario used Aura Sphere.
Gastrodon lost 18% of its health.
Lucario lost 10% of its health.
    Gastrodon used Earth Power.

    Ohheysup's Lucario fainted.

    vs.
    Gastrodon – 50%

That's the end! The reason why I choose Earth Power over Earthquake is because Gastrodon's Special Attack is much higher than his Physical one. It's tough when Toxic Blissey switches in.

This match was a fun one. I took out the conversation but if you saw it, you'd know we had a good time, laughing at our mistakes or interesting KOs. Ledian and Gastrodon did great in this battle, as usual. Props to his Celebi. It could've outlasted Jolteon which would've ruined me. Since you saw me struggling with that Celebi, you can tell how much trouble I'd have with Blissey. Girafarig fainted way too early. Normally I save him because he's my "Blissey-killer." I liked how this guy used Wash Rotom. I've never seen anyone used him before so that was really neat. I wanted to see him use Hydro Pump on me but I guess I didn't give him to chance to. Thanks all for reading!

Yea. I tried to add a commentary but the website is a bit slow so I was afraid making it too big would freeze up the sending.
I'll try to add them now.

I've never heard of a ledian lead and always wanted to see him used. GG, or buenas juega? or even bon match.

Ledian is the only Pokemon that can get both Encore and Knock Off so that's what makes him special. He outruns almost every lead out there so his average speed doesn't matter so much.

Fully Evolved Pokemon that can get both Encore and Knock Off, listed in order by SpE, defenses are in parenthesis:
    Alakazam (55/45/85)
    Ledian (55/50/110)
    Victreebel (80/65/60)
    Clefable (95/73/70)
    Azumarill (100/80/80)
    Shuckle (20/230/230)

Personally, I would go with Azumarill, but whatever.

The warstory itself was alright, not a game breaking warstory or anything. I feel that sometimes comments weren't needed, such as during the Togekiss sweep until that miss (which probably made the battle much better, because no one wants to read about a clean sweep), or during the Celebi v. Jolteon stall. Also, that mistaken move was a lot worse than 20 occurrences of hax. People like to read about game breaking warstories of massive intelligent epicness, not battles won based on the wind's direction. =/

A good warstory nonetheless, though. I'm guessing you were running Surf/Stockpile/Recover/Earthpower on Gastrodon?

Why use Heat Wave on Togekiss when you can have Flamethrower?

I think that he was willing to take the risk of the 10% miss just to have and extra 'oomph'.

Nice warstory, good surprise attack there. I've always wanted to use a Girafarig (it's a personal favourite) in competitive, but I've been a bit worried he wouldn't perform. this fixed up that doubt, sort of.
Not sure if it's just me, but the purple and the blue text was a bit hard to read on the dragon scheme. Oh well, most of you wouldn't be using this particular scheme.

You aren't playing doubles right now are you? You can just change that when you are, or make a different team for doubles :/

Nice warstory though, I like the use of Ledian.

There are a limited number of Flamethrower/Fire Blast TMs so that's why I keep HeatWave on Togekiss.

I know on Shoddy people like to max out their IVs but is that how their team really is? For most of them, I don't think so. My Shoddy teams don't have maxed IVs. I make them exactly like how they are on the DS (except Mamoswine because Shoddy doesn't have the Custap Berry).
