Because it's really just a gimmick. For most games it's not going to enhance the gameplay at all.

I played the 3ds at Best Buy. I didn't care about the 3d either but now its one of the reasons I kept the preorder. Its simply amazing.

Certainly in some games it will help. Mario is one that immediately comes to mind. It's just that for the majority it probably wont make too much difference, save games solely based off the 3D.

So basicly platforming games like Mario, Kid Icarus, Zelda, Sonic, and stuff like that. Am I right or am I too far from the mark?

Anything in three dimensions will benefit from being able to actually comprehend the third one.

I agree, although maybe Night Shadow was saving up money and maybe Night Shadow just decided to reserve it. I'm shocked that people are able to pre order the 3DS at this point since it's almost time for the US, Europe & Australia to get it and yet some places still don't have pre orders filled.

I've already preordered mine (Australia- Dick Smith). Originally it was only for the enhanced hardware and games, but since I've actually tried the machine and experienced the 3D, I have to say that it really is amazing. I'll probably turn it off, as it's pretty much a gimmick (WOW! Deep backgrounds!), but it works really well.

I'll note that some stores that usually sell Nintendo stuff in Australia are yet to put out a price for the 3DS, let alone open for preorders *COUGHkmartCOUGH*. And as a lot of guys here have said, it's so close.
So whether they'll even stock it or not is questionable.
