For the most part, information on the target system (system being transferred to) will be overwritten by the information on the source system (system being transferred from). See below for specific details, or click here for more information:

All content downloaded via the eShop on both systems (DSiWare, Ambassador games and status, 3DS Downloadable software, etc) will be combined together onto the target system.
After the transfer is complete, titles will be available to re-download from the Nintendo eShop.
Any game data that is duplicated on both systems is overwritten by the data on the source system.
The eShop balance from both systems is combined together. (Total amount cannot exceed $200 or the transfer will be canceled.)
Data associated with any pre-installed software or applications (Face Raiders, Streetpass Mii Plaza, etc). Only the data associated with the source system is retained.
    Photos, Videos, and Sound files
Any photo and sound files that exist on the target system’s internal memory will be overwritten. However, photo and sound files saved to the target system’s SD Card are still retained.
System Settings from the source system (Parental Controls, Internet settings, etc)
Save data associated to DSiWare and Nintendo 3DS Downloads
The WFC ID associated to DS online games.

So there's going to be a CPP for the 3DS XL. Nintendo did the right thing.

Possibly more pixilated than the 3DS already makes them.

How did Nintendo "do the right thing"?

None of the 3DS games really need the Circle Pad Pro, apart from Metal Gear Solid 3D: Snake Eater but really that game was not meant to be play on a portable system.

They only look pixelated when not running them at their native resolution.

By providing the same option to users of both systems, rather than leaving one out in the cold.

The DS games will be at their normal resolution on the 3DS XL, so they'll look much better than they do on the 3DS. I just hope they take away that artificial blur too. It looks good in 3D games, but pixelated games look like garbage with it.

It's not artificial blur, it's because you're running the game stretched. Hold down Start or Select when you start a DS game and it will be perfectly crisp because it's then running at its native resolution. The 3DS XL will be the exact same.

Gonna have to disagree here. Nintendo always leaves other consoles out in the cold. Hence why we cannot play SNES, N64 or GC games on the Wii U, or why we cannot play GB or GBA games on the 3DS. Technology will never move forward if it doesn't 'leave one out in the cold'. This was the perfect opportunity for Nintendo to correct the mistake of leaving a circle pad out on the Original 3DS.

The DSi never cared for DS/DS Lite users for playing GBA games, why should the 3DS XL be any different? Plain and simple, it shouldn't. It's not like adding the circle pad would have made players switch consoles anyway, it would just be a nice addition for the players who bought the more expensive console that lacks a charger.

It's not even that, the 3DS and 3DS XL are the same system. Saying that it's like Nintendo no longer supporting the NES, SNES, GBA etc etc is completely wrong.

It also sounds like the think the Circle Pad Pro is going to be built on to the 3DS XL, that is also wrong.

If bought 100 GBA games then got a 3DS then you would have to buy them again.
