Good call. The guy who joined over a decade ago probably doesn't know rules and things like that.

Huh, that's interesting. Is this officially licensed by Nintendo, or is it some indie developer who randomly decided to make a Super Nintendo game without going through Nintendo first?

Join Ash and Pikachu as they travel to the Tenno Region, a region known for its advanced space program. Along their way towards the Tenno League and becoming a Pokémon Master they'll encounter new Pokémon, new enemies, such as the evil Team Planetary, and, of course, a certain trio of Team Rocket members, along with friends new and old. It's an out-of-this-world adventure!
    Check it out!

Nintendo isn't licensing any more SNES games, they're just being made. I remember hearing of at least one other released in the last decade or so. Or maybe it was Dreamcast.

In any event, my point here was really that the fact games are released for a system years after it's discontinued don't exactly mean much. Because they usually tend to be shovelware (Just Dance, the aforementioned Frozen) or things like this.

Oh, I thought you were making the opposite point, and pointing out that systems will continue to be supported long after they "die out."

You could look at it in the opposite way, I suppose. I don't really consider it support, though. But until they discontinue all current 3DS models, the 3DS is not going anywhere. And considering they just released a new one, we've still got a ways to go.

So did anyone else know if you buy a new system without doing system transfer, and you don't keep the old system's serial number, Nintendo might not be able/willing to unlink your NNID from your old 3DS? Because I learned that today.

Yeah, they need some kind of authentication to make sure you're not just stealing someone else's account

I mean, I would have thought a modern gaming company could make the process somewhat straightforward online instead of making it complex enough that I've now lost 14 years worth of over 1,000 Pokemon. Unlinking an old device should literally be a painless process - or, like, linking more than one.

So when I was about 9 or 10 I got the 3DS I grew up with for the next few years and I mainly played Pokemon games on. However, about 3 years ago, I lost it and could never find it. I no longer had access to B2 and X and it was terrible. I spent so much time on these games as well as the other games I had for it. I still wanted to Pokemon-related things so I joined this forum.

But a few days ago, I managed to find my lost 3DS! During the time I didn't have access to my Pokemon games and other games I kinda lost interest in them and I don't really feel the need to play them again, but the 3DS works perfectly fine and it was nice to open my save file and check the Pokemon and progress I had 3 years ago. I currently can't really get any of the games released in the meantime.

I've claimed Komachi Onozuka, Celesteela, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Splash Woman Stage (music)

No mention where you lost and found it?

I don't think there's a way to take screenshots on 3DS without Miiverse

I'm neutral on Miiverse being shut down. I never really used it and often forgot about its existence because of how I rarely even opened it.

I knew Miiverse couldn't last forever. But looking at the comments on Miiverse's announcement post tells me a lot of people thought the opposite...

I guess I'm going to miss seeing posts in certain Wii U games, but that's about it.

I'm also neutral. I almost never used it. It was a neat feature, but not one that I had enough interest in to use frequently.

In fact, Miiverse probably brought me more misery than most people. Back in January when that hacker got usernames and passwords from Nugget Bridge, he or someone that used those usernames and passwords after he posted them online, got into my Miiverse account and posted a bunch of very inappropriate things. ALL of my Nintendo-related accounts were banned after that. It wasn't fun emailing and calling different Nintendo customer service reps to get my accounts restored.

I wonder if Miiverse going out is a sign that the 3DS is about to end its cycle? Unless they give people some way to use social media to publish snapshots no matter the game.

We don't really have to guess - we know the 3DS doesn't have too long left. I suspect what few major unannounced releases Nintendo might have left will be released in Q1/Q2 2018, and by this time next year I suspect they will have quietly said "godspeed" and it will be in its last wheezes.

In and of itself, however, pulling the plug on Miiverse is likely just ending a little-used service that was taking up server resources unnecessarily, and doesn't signal that the system is on the way out any more than we already knew it was.
