Kanto or Hoenn.

ABSOLUTELY Hoenn. There is no comparison. Hoenn drop-kicks Kanto and puts it to shame!
Seriously, Hoenn is the best Region of the Franchise. The most creative, fresh and Beautiful Regionn we've been treated too so far.
It has that .. Tropical feel, it always felt like a new adventure regardless how many times you played it, Kanto got boring.
So many creative locations like Foretree, Pacifildog, Scootopolis and Route 211/13 aswell as many more.
Even Sinnoh and Isshu which are BIG Regions and well respected too get blasted by Hoenn, what chance does Kanto have? Absolutely no chance!

Not a Kanto hater at all, as an original fan I love Kanto - just finished Leaf green two days ago..
But it has zero chance against Hoenn, which destroys it with ease.
Hoenn is the best region, if they remake RSE on the 3DS or even Regular DS's then you'll see exactly what all of us are talking about! :]

Kanto is actually boring to me; I'll have to take Hoenn. Hoenn is actually my favorite region so it isn't hard for me to answer this.

Hoenn. It's tropical and beautiful and with towns like Lilycove, Slateport, and Fortree, it really stands out.

Both Kanto and Hoenn is good, but if anything Fire Red and Leaf Green (Kanto) is longer as when you defeat the Elite 4, you get an extra of the Journey on Obtaining the Ruby and Sapphire Stone's but there are less in-game legendary Pokemon to catch. Kanto has only Zapdos, Articuno, Moltres + Mewtwo. Although Hoenn has more, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Regirock, Regice and Registeel as well the starters are alot cooler when shiny hunting. If anything, get them both to experience the Regions.

For seriousness, though, Hoenn was terrible with all the water routes and random HM usage. I didn't feel at all restricted like that in Kanto, so props to it.
That, and everyone's been jumping in the Hoenn bandwagon lately, so I could care even less about it.

Hoenn for sure. I could play RSE over and over and never get tired of it. I love the contests and the various cities that are so unique and fun. There's just something about Hoenn that makes me love it more than any other region.

Lol jk about the Kanto. Kanto is very classic in every way or form and earns the plus for that. But Hoenn has a much different feel, Tropical and a great soundtrack. But it welcomes new and awesome Pokemon sprites.
Has way more reliability in the end of the game.(Battle frontier!!!!) A Wonderful and well put together story line that includes helping the one side and than the 2 sides (Team aqua+Team magma) realize that they just awoke 2 invincible beasts.

Definitely Hoenn.

Kanto is very easy to get around and Hoenn has more ocean, more diverse terrain and more interesting towns. In Kanto, everywhere you go is basically the same. In Hoenn you can Dive underwater, you have a desert, Route 114, the rainy and lush routes around Fortree (which is a cool town IMO), you have Meteor Falls, Mt. Chimney, Mt. Pyre (which I prefer to Lavender Town's Pokemon Tower), and not mention Pacifidlog Town, Sootopolis City and the Battle Frontier in Emerald (which was HUGE and had all those cool buildings).

Don't get me wrong, I love the 1st generation, but Hoenn as a region was a lot more fun in my opinion. In FR/LG the cities and routes are more plain, which is okay because they are remakes of the very first games and back then, games were simple. They couldn't really do anything to spice up the locations -- they just didn't have the means.

When R/S/E came out, games had gotten a bit more complex. Graphics improved and they were able to be more creative and add more detail with an entirely new game. Whereas FR/LG had to stay true to the originals. So R/S/E definitely has an edge against FR/LG aesthetically, and ultimately gameplay-wise because of that.

Hoenn for me I loved the pokemon and its legendaries within the story. I always loved seeing the weather change when Kyogre and Groudon fought.

The one thing FR/LG had over RSE - The Sevii Islands. Both regions work with me though.
